if you’ve never built a terrifying contraption that allows you to hook yourself up to an amalgam of ghasts and channel so much firepower into you that it literally blinds you so that in your excitement you fill the room with lava and inadvertently destroy your own machine, can you even call yourself a mad genius

Mochi was talking about Hermitcraft a bunch (a minecraft group with a bunch of pro minecraft players all playing on the same server and getting up to shenanigans) and it got me curious enough to watch a couple videos; naturally I’ve gravitated towards docm77, this delightful man who is determined to actually break minecraft

Boo shared this song with with the CoC gang as a Cthulhu!Joey song, and I got some big Prophet vibes as well, and he was like, I mean, if there’s a Joey - Prophet song, it’s this one. And then…… I thought about it……….. and did the thing where you start imagining an entire music video….. aND THEN TRIED TO MAKE AN ANIMATIC???? i got super excited and have been working on nothing but this fOR THE LAST WEEK AND A HALF,,

AAAAA LOOK AT BOO’S COLOURS… IM SO HAPPY WITH HOW THIS TURNED OUT!!

I was just thinkin about how the boys never got a proper introduction (since they’re all Bendy characters) and wanted to give them one… while also nodding to, uh, well, some of the, things that have happened!!! Also to be able to introduce them to friends who are not as familiar with Bendy; honestly I’m still just really delighted by the concept of “CoC game where we all play various employees of a 1930s animation studio.”

anyway shoutouts to Adam C Younis’ pixel art videos for the tutorial on isometric characters that I devoured in order to give me the power to attempt this, and lotovik’s twitter for having a ton of inspiring isometric work that probably planted this idea in my head.

Recently ran across some “what if the BAtiM folks escaped the Studio and were human again” pondering and then I had some thoughts which eventually devolved into Thinking About Sammy A Lot, aka Escape AU Where Sammy Lawrence Tries To Make Up For Being Terrified Of Everything Now By Being A Half-hearted Ass To Everyone. 

So many of these people murdered each other for ink-related reasons, they should REALLY not be living in the same space but the content I want is just all of these losers trying to come to terms with both a new life and each other…….

OH!!!!! ALSO!!! I made a batim sideblog to try to contain my current obsession somewhat. Will I ramble unceasingly and incoherently about Sammy Lawrence over there? Will I be way too shy for that? WHO KNOWS!! Anyway heres a Post Studio AU that exploded into my brain and needed to be drawn

fiddling around with Jack Fain a tiny bit; this is probably an amalgamation of all the other jack looks I’ve seen in fandom, but honestly leaning Jack towards a slightly more put-together optimistic chill to contrast with Sammy’s dishevelled cynical intensity is appealing to me!

Is it weird that JDS has a dedicated lyricist instead of just putting one of the writers on that task whenever it comes up? My brief googling of the job brings up folks who worked for Disney, but like…. the Bendy cartoons feel more looney tunes than disney musical, so I’d imagine a majority of Sammy’s music is background stuff that doesn’t need Jack? Though I’m kinda into the idea that Jack and Sammy are sort of a package deal at this point since they’ll put up with each other – finding “someone who will put up with Sammy” and “someone Sammy respects enough to work with well” in one person is probably, uh, a challenge.

I just love the idea that both of them kinda get each other even though they’re exact opposites in a lot of ways.

how much of this is gameplay?? and how much is canon!!!!! can Sammy actually not move quickly??? was he ACTUALLY at the mercy of every monster in the studio????? cOULD ALICE MURDER SAMMY INSTANTLY IF GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY???? ya’ll I am absolutely LOSING IT at the decision to make him sneak and hide from everyone instead of being an antagonist, I LOVE IT

anyway me and @inkyvendingmachine watched the VOD of @halfusek’s stream and at some point Alice said this and we were SCREAMING, like, I’m sure she always says this, bUT APPLIED TO SAMMY THIS IS  I N C R E D I B L E I NEEDED TO DRAW IT AND I MAY HAVE GOTTEN CARRIED AWAY

Apparently “temperamental” was a 1930s euphemism for “gay” and this is AMAZING when applied to the angriest music director

CAN I DRAW CHARACTERS WHO ARENT SAMMY LAWRENCE??? MAYBE!!! a bit more fiddling with faces for some of the BATIM cast, because apparently I can only fixate on things that do not actually appear in the game itself.

Ran across the thought “I wonder if Sammy was a happier person while he was composing music,” and it kinda hit me in the guts a bit

my friend boo finally went and got Dreams Come To Life and has been liveblogging it to me while reading it and we’ve been having a FANTASTIC TIME being equal parts angry and delighted at it. Have some barely legible scribbles of Mostly Sammy, and also some headcanons under the cut:

• DCTL makes a big deal of Sammy being weird and rude by using everyone’s first name, so we couldn’t help but notice that in the game, everyone just calls him Sammy – even Norman, who still uses “Mr. Drew” when talking about Joey in the very same audio log. While we were pondering whether this might be something Sammy himself had insisted on, Boo made the incredible realisation that…. this is probably Joey’s doing. Joey calls Thomas “Tommy” and Bertrum “Bertie”, it’S RIGHT THERE, he OBVIOUSLY met Samuel Lawrence and immediately dubbed him “Sammy,” … except, Sammy seems to have liked it enough to now use this nickname exclusively???? AMAZING????????
• I gotta wonder if Sammy’s, uh, mental breaks under stress (glances at the 1935 audio log) combined with his overly aggressive demeanour might’ve gotten him a reputation already at previous jobs for being a bit unhinged. It’d be really easy for Joey to give him the idea that JDS is the only place that will put up with/appreciate his particular flavour of mad genius, and for Sammy to think he’d struggle to get a job elsewhere despite his obvious skill, which could’ve contributed to him staying at this awful job for….. over a decade….. Anyway Tom & Allison’s convo near the end of DCTL about Joey zeroing in on people who are both talented and desperate sURE IS INTERESTING ISN’T IT.
• Every now and again I try to imagine Sammy with long hair b/c of that one twitter post bUT LIKE HIS MEMORY AINT GREAT ARE WE REALLY SURE HE REMEMBERS WHEN EXACTLY HE HAD LONG HAIR

MORE BATIM!! Some thoughts on a look for voice actress Susie Campbell, and then additional scribbles of Sammy’s hypothetical disaster of a love life where I forget how to draw everyone!! (That’s meant to be ink rather than injury but yknow either way is Not Great) 

Susieobviously crushed hard on Sammy, but did he feel the same? DATA INCONCLUSIVE. Disaster Bi Sammy is a great headcanon, but my personal favourite take is Sammy being actually Just Gay, but enjoying Susie’s upbeat company more than he would normally admit, so he plays along with her romantic affection to try to pass as straight (and throw suspicion off him and Joey). I kinda like the idea that he did lie to her, just not in the way she thinks – that he also genuinely liked her. Didn’t stop him from kicking her off the part for Joey though
