Kiba. He’s probably the best kind of possessive in that he understands that you talking to some guy doesn’t equal you flirting or you taking an interest in them. But he will wait until later and maybe give you a few little visible bite marks just to make sure anyone around you knows that you’re taken.
Hidan. I feel like Hidan is all or nothing; he’s either on you 24/7 and will shove (or stab) anyone who tries to hit on you or he’s done with you. If he is possessive, he is overly so to the max. Doesn’t like you talking to anyone who isn’t a wrinkly old lady.
Shikamaru. Will not admit to it at all, he thinks even feeling this way is troublesome but he can’t help it. He’s probably the last one to act on it but if you watch him closely when anyone talks to you his eyes are on you dissecting the entire conversation.
Deidara. Once you’re his he might be misinterpreting you talking to any guy. “You didn’t have to ask him for directions.” Might need to have a conversation about this early on before his possessiveness really becomes a problem and he gets huffy if another guy is even around you that is “threatening”.
Kakuzu. (This is a little insight into the story I’m working on for him.) His possessiveness doesn’t come out right away. At first you can come or go for all he cares. But you finally worm your way into his life and you two strike a balance that he’s never experienced before. After you’re attacked and he uses some stitches to fix you up, something changes. Unlike when he’s stitched up his other teammates, this feels like a marking. You’re his now. He’ll run his fingers over the stitches and become a lot more protective and possessive (but have fun trying to get him to admit it).
It happens completely by chance. He is coming over to check on your cat since you were gone on a mission. He had mumbled about it being troublesome but you knew he was growing fond of laying on your couch with your cat curled up on his stomach. It was to the point where he came over more often than he admitted when you were gone.
From down the street he sees a flicker of someone leaping down from the rooftop, grabbing the railing of a balcony to swing their body in and land on yours underneath. It’s dark but he’s sure he sees the flash of a white mask.
He hightails it up to your apartment and takes in the scene. The balcony door is left open, a tanto and other various weapons left in a heap next to the chest where you kept your weapons, and your cat meowing pitifully at the bathroom door.
He can hear the shower running when he gets closer, then a pained grunt and the shower curtain rustling.
He gently knocks on the door, putting the pieces together. Unless you gave someone in ANBU permission to use your shower….
He barely hears the “come in” and he opens the door, your cat rushing in and perching in his place on the counter.
Shikamaru doesn’t say anything, instead takes off his clothes and joins you.
You’re badly bruised all along your side and your shoulder looks like it may have been popped out and back into place recently.
Shikamaru is a smart man, he knows when to bring something up and when it can wait until later. He just helps you clean up and gets you into bed, putting your mask and weapons into your chest and closing the balcony door before finally joining you.
You two can talk about it later. He’s just happy you’re home safe.
You wake up in the hospital and see Shikamaru in the chair in the corner. At first he looks asleep but when you move his eyes shoot open and he straightens up.
His frown is deeper than normal and he looks caught between worry and anger. Hard to figure out while your mind is still swimming through pain meds and playing over what had just happened.
The mission wasn’t even one you would have normally taken, but your immediate boss was out of the village and the team was desperately in need of a translator; the only reasons they let a chuunin on such a high-ranked mission.
You are both silent for a minute before he finally gets up and comes and hugs you, mindful of injuries. He will awkwardly lean over your hospital bed and keep hugging you so tight until he thinks the little lump in his throat has finally passed and he can talk again.
“They didn’t know who made it back when they told me the team had been attacked.” He’s looking down at his feet until you grab his hand and tug him to sit on the edge of the bed.
“I’ll be fine. I’m sorry for worrying you.”
“Do you want to tell me what happened?” He thinks he can feel his heart dropping when you look away and shake your head.
“Not yet, but maybe later.”
He won’t push you to talk about it until you’re ready, and will be helping you with anything and everything you could need u til you’re back to 100% again.
Will become 1,000x more protective of you going on missions again after this. Might come across as possessive but he has just lost people before and can’t stand the thought of losing you or seeing you in a hospital bed again.
But if you catch him right after a shower or he’s been gone on a mission that took longer than he expected (and he ran out of cigarettes a few days ago), sometimes you can catch something else.
He smells a little like an old book, maybe a little dusty but comforting and warm. A little hint of fresh ink.
When he cooks the smells tend to linger on his skin and hair, especially something warm and spicy.
Shikamaru would totally be into shotgunning with you when he smokes. You cannot change my mind about this. Will grab your chin and blow the smoke into your mouth, might let his lips brush against yours if he wants to tease you a little more.
(This may become a part 2 to the Shikamaru oneshot about smoking because this man does this to me.)
