emstantinople:

It’s as good a time as any to announce a new comic project: an adaptation of Gawain and the Green Knight, one of my favorite Arthurian stories. I’m working on it slowly but surely, and I’ll be releasing the whole thing online as a webcomic - but in the meantime here’s the cover and the first two pages!

Oh gosh, this is SO relevant to my interests!!

A new series of paintings I’m working on, based on the medieval romance, “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight”. Using watercolours and gouache and painting them in the style of medieval tapestries! Here are the first three all together.

I read “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight,” (a medieval poem) last year and was inspired by its beautiful verses and how visually descriptive the language was. I’m using Marie Boroff’s translation to paint a series of illustrations in the style of medieval tapestries! Will share some sketches soon!

brookreader:

I think the main problem with a lot of Morgan le Fay characterizations is that they focus too much on the angst and not enough on the Wile. E. Coyote-esque schemes

Morgan:Even now, my servant, the Green Knight, goes to challenge my brother’s men. But once they lop off his head, he’ll just pick it up and walk out of the room! MWA-HA-HA!

Sebile: Weren’t we trying to kill Guinevere?

Morgan:Yeah, and when she sees this, she’ll die of a heart attack.

Sebile:

Sebile:Okay?

I finished this commission quite a while back. “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” a silly little tale concerning a challenge between a big green weirdo and a young knight of King Arthur’s court. I hope you enjoy!

What could express seasonal renewal better than a bloke with no head on a big green horse?

Happy New Year!

Not entirely happy with this, but I did some experimenting with things in these so at least it was a learning experience.

Illustrations done for an assignment, re-imagining a modern Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. I love the idea though, so I might work on this as a short comic in the future :)

If this was made into a short comic I would totally buy/read it.

pendragoth:

For our final printmaking project, we were told to make a print series based on the prompt ‘fear’. So, naturally, I did my series on Sir Bercilak, a.k.a. the Big Mossy Boi from Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, because who doesn’t love a good old medieval Christmas story full of beheadings? Anyways, this piece is called “Bercilak Awaits”.
