GUYS GUESS WHAT I JUST REALSIED.

So I don’t know if I’m super late to the party of this discovery but…

But Netossa and Spinerella are wearing each other’s necklaces!!!!

She ra characters as videos lol (I have too many videos that I need to show the world)

Adora like all the time:

Battle of the Brainwashed

I was in my feelings this season about the overwhelming ANGST of these scenes.

There is something just so uniquely horrible about the concept of being forced to fight the person you love the most, hurting them, watching them suffer, all the while knowing that they might never come back to you. And all you can do is beg them to remember who they are and tell them you love them.

She Ra flipped the script on the history of painful acceptance of “subtext only” relationships for queer rep.

Noelle subverted our expectations for romantic arcs. Normally in like literally every single other show I’ve ever seen, queer relationships are subtextual or have the characters appear very close but won’t go out of their way to be like “yes this is romantic.” Bare minimum the queer relationships are an afterthought.

But this show??? It had THREE canon LGBTQ relationships share an onscreen kiss, declare their romantic love, show affection, and end up happy together. And all of the het ships (if we can even call them het because a lot of the characters give off bi vibes and it’s she ra) are the ones that are “implied” !

Like it could be argued they are together. It could be argued there are feelings there maybe. But it could also be viewed by some as just close friendship, partnership, admiration, platonic intimacy, or sibling dynamics, and that’s normally all the queer characters are taught to expect and accept.

I just was so wowed by that intentional shift in normalizing romantic queer relationships in children’s tv.
