Oh, Catra should hate Glimmer. She should hate her stupid shiny glittery outfit. And for that matter, her stupid shiny glittery hair. So why did she want to kiss her so bad?

It was dumb. It was so dumb. But Catra couldn’t deny that maybe on the ship, they’d had something close to… a connection. It wasn’t the same sort of connection that she felt with Adora. That had stretched for years, and had left her constantly feeling betrayed and left behind. But with Glimmer, Catra felt evenly matched in some way. Matched in wit, matched in raw power (well, the power that she’d used to have), matched in how fiercely they felt things. Catra never thought she would be attracted to things she saw in herself, because to be honest, she didn’t even really like herself. But when it came to those things in Glimmer, she could see the fire and the spark that lit her up even when she was beaten down. Catra wanted to live up to that.

When she was going to bed on Hordak Prime’s ship, Catra would grab the pillow and pretend, for a moment, that Glimmer was there with her. Maybe she only felt that way because Glimmer was the closest thing to another life she’d had nearby. Plus, she didn’t want to deny her feelings for Adora by having these thoughts. It was sick, and confusing. Catra didn’t understand how you could love two people. It was a traiterous thought.

So even after everyone had been saved, she kept those thoughts to herself. She watched Glimmer reconnect with Bow, and she connected with Adora. And it was wonderful and pure. But she still had those feelings, against her will and better judgement. There was always a part of her that was yearning.
