Within the stillness of meditation, we see the unreality of thought.

Understand that it is not the individual which has consciousness; it is the consciousness which assumes innumerable forms.

— Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

No matter what your emotional, physical, or mental state, let it be as it is and don’t wish it to be otherwise. If you want it to be different from what it is, you’re not abiding; you’re picking and choosing and trying to control your experience.

— Adyashanti

I want to let you in on a little secret. There are no problems. There are no problems. There never were any problems, there are no problems today, and there will never be any problems. Problems just mean that the world isn’t turning the way you want it to. But in truth, there are no problems. Everything is unfolding as it should. Everything is right. You have to forget about yourself and expand your consciousness until you become the whole universe. The Reality in back of the universe is Pure Awareness. It has no problems. And you are That.

— Robert Adams

What if you let go of every bit of control and every urge that you have, right down to the most infinitesimal urge to control anything, anywhere, including anything that may be happening with you at this moment? If you were able to give up control absolutely, totally, and completely, then you would be a spiritually free being.

— Adyashanti

I am now 74 years old. And yet I feel that I am an infant. I feel clearly that in spite of all the changes I am a child. My Guru told me that child, which is you even now, is your real self (‘swarupa’). Go back to that state of pure being, where the 'I am’ is still in its purity before it gets contaminated with 'this I am’ or 'that I am’. Your burden is of false self-identifications—abandon them all. My Guru told me: 'Trust me. I tell you, you are divine. Take it as the absolute truth. Your joy is divine, your suffering is divine too. All comes from God. Remember it always. You are God, your will alone is done.’ I did believe him and soon realized how wonderfully true and accurate were his words. I did not condition my mind by thinking: 'I am God, I am wonderful, I am beyond.’ I simply followed his instruction, which was to focus the mind on pure being, 'I am’ and stay in it. I used to sit for hours together, with nothing but the 'I am’ in my mind and soon peace and joy and a deep all-embracing love became my normal state. In it all disappeared—myself, my Guru, the life I lived, the world around me. Only peace remained and unfathomable silence.

— Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

The important thing is allowing the whole world to wake up. Part of allowing the whole world to wake up is recognizing that the whole world is free—everybody is free to be as they are. Until the whole world is free to agree with you or disagree with you, until you have given the freedom to everyone to like you or not like you, to love you or hate you, to see things as you see them or to see things differently—until you have given the whole world its freedom—you’ll never have your freedom.

— Adyashanti

lifeofdai:

Life is like arriving late for a movie, having to figure out what was going on without bothering everybody with a lot of questions, and then being unexpectedly called away before you find out how it ends.

— Joseph Campbell, Creative Mythology

A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.

— Lao Tzu

The real spiritual progress of the aspirant is measured by the extent to which he achieves inner tranquility.

— Swami Sivananda

The central problem is not that
you think to highly
of yourself
nor is it that
you think too lowly
instead, it is that
you think constantly
of yourself.

Wu Hsin

The idea of time is only in your mind. It is not in the Self. There is no time for the Self. Time arises as an idea after the ego arises. But you are the Self beyond time and space. You exist even in the absence of time and space.

— Sri Ramana Maharshi

It is like being in the desert. At first you listen to the absence of sounds and call it silence. Then suddenly you may be taken by the presence of stillness where you are one with listening itself.

— Jean Klein

Spiritual awakening is about discovering what’s true. Anything that’s not about getting to the truth must be discarded. Truth isn’t about knowing things; you already know too much. It’s about unknowing. It’s not about becoming true; it’s about unbecoming false so that all that’s left is truth.

— Jed McKenna

Give up defining yourself—to yourself or to others. You won’t die. You will come to life. And don’t be concerned with how others define you. When they define you, they are limiting themselves, so it’s their problem. Whenever you interact with people, don’t be there primarily as a function or a role, but as the field of conscious Presence. You can only lose something that you have, but you cannot lose something that you are.

— Eckhart Tolle

You get something when it’s time. You lose it when it’s passed. If you are content with the time and abide by the passing, there’s no room for sorrow or joy. This is what the ancients called ‘loosing the bonds.’ If you don’t loose yourself, things will bind you.

— Chuang Tzu

Hope is what keeps you going, but hope keeps you focused on the future, and this continued focus perpetuates your denial of the Now and therefore your unhappiness.” — Eckhart Tolle

Truth, like gold, is to be obtained not by its growth, but by washing away from it all that is not gold.

— Leo Tolstoy
