ok was scrolling through my star wars tag on my main and i got to a post giffing victory and death and like. Man there is just something about the fact that it’s ahsoka who takes off rex’s helmet to reveal that he’s crying. something about the intimacy of being unmasked by the only person on this ship on your side, who’s been through countless battles with you and fought side by side to save your life just as you’ve fought to save hers. the gentle hands of the person who won’t let you hide your pain, who has at least an inkling of the agony you’re undergoing, but it’s just that. only an inkling. he’s being laid bare by the person who’s simultaneously a victim of this situation, just as he is, especially because she’s literally not even a jedi anymore, but ahsoka is also the person who unleashed maul to save herself at the expense of the 501st. it’s just such a quiet, vulnerable, difficult but beautifully done moment in an otherwise very loud and explosive episode.
