from up on poppy hill become my favorite ghibli movie on the day I watched it, I really like this movie, and I think it’s extremely underated, idk why it’s not on anyone’s top.. it’s really beautiful, also the soundtracks are so relaxing and cute, my favorite one is sayonara no natsu..
You know, The Cat Returns is a movie that I think often gets forgotten in Miyazaki’s library. But then again, I also kinda can’t help but think that one of the reasons its my personal favorite (despite me knowing its probably not the best work Ghibli has done) is because it reminds me so much of my childhood. When I was a kid I kept journals where I drew crappy pictures of cats and cat people having odd adventures in different lands of people and cats alike. I think there was a whole world in those journals that as an adult I can’t comprehend but as a kid made all the sense in the world. So in a lot of ways I can’t help but feel like The Cat Returns is my childhood innocence come to life.
I know its silly. But I guess that film just holds a personal sort of nostalgia for me.
