The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004) dir. Garry Marshall
There was another novelization of Princess Dairies 2 but the book was laid out like it was a picture book and that’s all I can remember. I woke up thinking that it didn’t actually exist but it should.
You try living for 15 years thinking that you’re one person, and then in five minutes, you find out you’re a princess. Just in case I wasn’t enough of a freak already, let’s add a tiara!
THE PRINCESS DIARIES (2001) — directed by Garry Marshall
The topic of those movie makeovers where the nerdy character gets her curly hair straightened and loses her glasses and magically becomes hot came up and I remembered how much I hate that guy in The Princess Diaries who broke Mia’s glasses for shits and giggles. “My flimsy hairbrush couldn’t handle your hollywood white girl curly hair so it’s okay for me to violate your autonomy and destroy something you fucking need to see” SHUT UPPPP. Rip to Mia but if I was a princess and some entitled jackass broke my glasses I’d simply break his nose and get my grandma to make him pay for a new pair.
Someone sat on us again! This week, after our unplanned mini-break, Maggie and V are back with four tales of New York City girls who are some stripe of American royalty and experience miracles to great soundtracks. V is bringing you The Princess Diaries book series and 1999’s Annie, while Maggie reps A Little Princess and the 1982 Annie. Plus, Paul Rudd is the sexiest man alive, Maggie’s love Jon Bernthal was lighthearted in King Richard, and V does not spoil Eternals or Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
