What a great book… it broke me, put me back together and then broke me again….

Rufus and Mateo are so well written (especially Mateo is too good for the world). The story is heart breaking and the side characters are great!

They both die at the end made me cry and left me emotionally exhausted on a new level but I loved every second of it!

So I had to made this little fanart / alternative book cover thingy with Rufus and Mateo and I hope you guys like it as well ☺☺☺☺

Thank you @adamsilvera for making this book

Tap for better quality.

Now I’ll remember Mateo everytime I’m making my tea

Every time I go to the bookshop and see the book They Both Die At the End, I have to tell someone, anyone, how bad it hurt when they both died at the end even though I knew it was going to happen because the cover says so

they both die at the end

If you have read and enjoyed “You’ve Reached Sam” by Dustin Thao you might also enjoy “All This Time” by Mikki Daughtry and Rachael Lippincott,“They Both Die at the End” by Adam Silvera, and “The Astonishing Color of After” by Emily X.R. Pan.

All This Time: “Kyle and Kimberly have been the perfect couple all through high school, but when Kimberly breaks up with him on the night of their graduation party, Kyle’s entire world upends—literally. Their car crashes and when he awakes, he has a brain injury. Kimberly is dead. And no one in his life could possibly understand.
Until Marley. Marley is suffering from her own loss, a loss she thinks was her fault. And when their paths cross, Kyle sees in her all the unspoken things he’s feeling.
As Kyle and Marley work to heal each other’s wounds, their feelings for each other grow stronger. But Kyle can’t shake the sense that he’s headed for another crashing moment that will blow up his life as soon as he’s started to put it back together. And he’s right.”

They Both Die at the End: “On September 5, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: They’re going to die today. Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they’re both looking to make a new friend on their End Day. The good news: There’s an app for that. It’s called the Last Friend, and through it, Rufus and Mateo are about to meet up for one last great adventure–to live a lifetime in a single day.’”

The Astonishing Color of After: “Leigh Chen Sanders is absolutely certain about one thing: when her mother died by suicide, she turned into a bird. When she travels to Taiwan to meet her maternal grandparents for the first time, Leigh is determined to find her mother, the bird. In her search, she winds up chasing after ghosts, uncovering family secrets, and forging a new relationship with her grandparents. And as she grieves, she must try to reconcile the fact that on the same day she kissed her longtime secret crush, Axel, her mother was taking her own life.”

Had a weirdly productive unproductive day today. Like yes I read a new book (geez was it sad, not sure what I expected from a book called “They both die at the end” but either way, very good) and I went for a walk, and restocked my kitchen, and repotted my plants. But on the other hand I did less than half of my Latin translation oops. At least I have a three day weekend :)) hopefully filled with the sunshine

fandoms-or-life:

The reason why Mateo and Rufus lived that long is because they found each other. Rufus pulled Mateo out of his house and hence was the reason why Mateo was away from the stove for so long and Mateo always made sure they crossed the road safely. Also, don’t forget that they both died when the other one wasn’t there to see it.

It fucks me up so badly, the foreshadowing was there all along and even multiple times, but I still couldn’t see it and then at the end it hit me like a truck

two dudes met. they fell in love. they lived. that’s our story.

I just finished this book and now I can’t stop crying because, regardless of the spoiler in the title, I can’t believe they both actually died at the end

In this prequel to #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon They Both Die at the End, two new strangers spend a life-changing day together after Death-Cast first makes their fateful calls.

It’s the night before Death-Cast goes live, and there’s one question on everyone’s mind: Can Death-Cast actually predict when someone will die, or is it just an elaborate hoax?

Orion Pagan has waited years for someone to tell him that he’s going to die. He has a serious heart condition, and he signed up for Death-Cast so he could know what’s coming.

Valentino Prince is restarting his life in New York. He has a long and promising future ahead and he only registered for Death-Cast after his twin sister nearly died in a car accident.

Orion and Valentino cross paths in Times Square and immediately feel a deep connection. But when the first round of End Day calls goes out, their lives are changed forever—one of them receives a call, and the other doesn’t. Though neither boy is certain how the day will end, they know they want to spend it together…even if that means their goodbye will be heartbreaking.

Told with acclaimed author Adam Silvera’s signature bittersweet touch, this story celebrates the lasting impact that people have on each other and proves that life is always worth living to the fullest.

He once told me that stories can make someone immortal as long as someone else is willing to listen.

Too bad life doesn’t allow us to turn it’s gears, like a clock, when we need more time.

“We should get walking then. I don’t know how much life we have left but I don’t want to miss it.”

I kiss the guy who brought me to life on the day we’re going to die.

“My last message would be to find your people. And to treat each day like a lifetime.”

“I know I spent my life hiding there, but I did my best to live, too, and I want to share this place with you.”
Rufus squeezes my hand. “Take me home, Mateo.”

“But if for some reason this plan doesn’t work, we need to promise to find each other in the afterlife. There has to be an afterlife, Roof, because it’s the only thing that makes dying this young fair.”
Rufus nods. “I will make it so easy for you to find me. Neon signs. Marching bands.”

“I would’ve loved you if we had more time.” I spit it out because it’s what I’m feeling in this moment and was feeling the many moments, minutes, and hours before. “Maybe I already do. I hope you don’t hate me for saying that, but I know I’m happy.”
“People have their time stamps on how long you should know someone before earning the right to say it, but I wouldn’t lie to you no matter how little time we have. People waste time and wait for the right moment and we don’t have that luxury. If we had our entire lives ahead of us I bet you’d get tired of me telling you how much I love you because I’m positive that’s the path we were heading on. But because we’re about to die, I want to say it as many times as i want- I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.”

“Did finding each other kill us?”
“We were going to die before we knew each other.” Mateo says.
“I know. But maybe this is how it was always written in the stone or the stars or whatever: Two dudes meet. They fall for each other. They die.” If this really is our truth, I get to punch whatever wall I want. Don’t try and stop me.
“Thats not our story,” Mateo squeezes my hands. “We’re not dying because of love. We were going to die today, no matter what. You didn’t just keep me alive, you made me live.” He climbs into my lap, bringing us closer. He hugs me so hard his heart is beating against my chest. I bet he feels mine.

“Two dudes met. They fell in love. They lived. Thats our story.”
