msogyny:

I don’t care about convincing every cis person to drop their prejudices against trans people I care about taking away their power and ability to act on those prejudices in ways that harm us

queenconsuelabananahammock:

Me loving Laverne Cox and thinking she’s beautiful or wanting to be an influential speaker like her one day does not magically cure me of my transmisogyny. Wishing that Amiyah Scott would be my wife/personal stylist does not magically cure me of my transmisogyny. Screeching like the fangirl that I am when Janet Mock oh so casually spills tea on Twitter does not cure me of transmisogyny. And that goes for every other cis person out there too. Let’s not act like captioning a pic of Laverne with “YAAAAAAAAAAAAAS” means that we will never again have to be self-reflective and examine the ways in which we may contribute to large scale transmisogyny. :/

YOU hate JK Rowling!

While I’ll admit that this post is funny, to me most of the comments are not. If anyone dare to say something as mild as « I don’t hate JKR", they are being answered with « Then you are terrible and you should die ». I’m not even exaggerating. Why should I care ? Because this is making anyone who wants to take a stand against JKR and protect trans rights sound like the immature angry caricature of « woke » that the conservatives are desperately trying to paint us as to make us irrelevant and laughable. I don’t “hate” JKR :  I disapprove her opinions, I oppose them, I’m being vocal about it and active in my support of trans people. I boycott her work. If I stoop down to her level with stupid internet hatred of anyone who refuse to join the stoning I’m sure as hell not helping the community.

its important to me as a detrans woman to be vocal about it. its important to me as a detrans woman who initially only had radfems to talk to about detransition, because i couldnt find a single trans inclusive detrans person for over a year, to make sure other people know they have options.

radfems arent your aly if you’re questioning your gender. they dont have your best interest at heart. they dont care about helping you explore who you are, theyre only interested in sucking you in to be another transmisogynistic pawn for their violent ideology.

if you’re trans/nonbinary now, but are wondering if it isnt right for you, know that you have options. you can talk to me. there are people who have not done a 180 into bigotry who are here to support you.

please reblog, do not just like, this post.

i dont have a large platform. i want this to get spread. i want to remove terfs from the forefront of detrans/reidentification awareness & support. they cannot continue to be the first contact for questioning people.

i am begging you, yes you personally, to please reblog this, and comment or reply in the tags if you’re a safe, trans-inclusive detransitioned or reidentified person to approach.

The trans community often talks about supporting exploring gender identities, but we shy from talking about how inevitably that exploration will result in some people confirming that they are cis, or they want to detransition, or even that they’re nonbinary when they thought they were binary trans, or vice-versa. We have a responsibility to support these people.

Baby Trans, listen to me, a 34 year old.

Hi, I’m Trans. I was AFAB and I transitioned, now I just look like a short cis guy.

Here’s the thing: I didn’t transition until I was about 27ish. I didn’t even know I was trans until I was 25.

Don’t let anyone tell you to “not bother transitioning after 19”

That’s a load of shit. People barely know who they are at 19. Personalities change and develop. Shit I didn’t really know who I was until I was about 27-28ish.

You can transition at any age. If you don’t feel ready in your teens, or your 20s, take your time. If you are unable to transition at 19 due to medical or economical reasons, you have plenty of time. The clock is not ticking. Take this at your own pace.

You’ve got a whole long life ahead of you, take one step at a time.

I’d like to point out that actual studies have linked trans suicides to constant misgendering as a cause (one of, I should add), whereas affirmation of gender is known to do the opposite. So intentionally misgendering trans people is pretty much legit trying to kill them.

In other news, water is wet.

Where the study/source?

I’m uber busy at work and I don’t have the time to pull up the specific spot it’s discussed. But, look up the work of Dr. Ry Testa. He’s a trans man tackling these issues.

Someone who knows how to navigate resources and has the spoons and time try and find the paper, save trans momma the trouble.

Sounds super legit though. Being misgendered almost always causes some dissociation and social withdrawal form me since it belittles my identity. I don’t get suicidal thoughts but I could sure as hell see how someone who does would be affected by that.

Hiya!

I’m hoping I could help somewhat.

This is all the work Dr. Testa’s done.

Development of the Gender Minority Stress and Resilience Measure.

Effects of violence on transgender people.

I think this is the one though; The relationship between gender-based victimization and suicide attempts in transgender people.

Misgendering a trans person is a violent act. It’s an emotional abuse that cuts deep into who we feel we are at our core. We have enough to deal with internally, adding external voices to that can destroy us.

@TERFs who insist misgendering is just ‘hurt feelings’

“stop blaming (TERFs) for anti-trans violence, we’ve literally never hurt trans women!!!”

Yeah. About that.
