I was going to watch this movie ever since the scandal in 2016 – when the whole story about “La-La Land” and “Oscar” happened and everybody was so angry about it I thought that probably should watch the winning film too and see if it’s as bad as everybody’s saying. I’ve watched “Moonlight” and no, it’s not that bad. It’s not bad at all, but I guess, I can understand why people, who don’t appreciate representation didn’t like it. It’s not very interesting. It’s boring. But it’s very beautifully shot – all those scenes, plans and cuts. Mahershala Ali was very good and I totally do understand why he got an “Oscar”. I was also happy to see Janelle Monáe! Never saw her in movies (yes, I didn’t watch “Hidden Figures”) and find out that she’s not only a cool singer but a good actress too. I hope that we will move to some point when movies including various representation will be not only representative and beautiful (art-house) but also interesting for a simple audience member (like me).
