using javascript on tumblr pages – how to ask support for permission
✧ What is happening?
As of early May 2022, you might have gotten this message when trying to save edits on your custom pages or when trying to install new ones:
“Looks like you’re trying to add some Javascript or invalid html to your page. You’ll need to contact Support if you’d like to use Javascript.”
✧ Why is this happening?
Tumblr is preventing potential malicious uses of javascript and decided to ban any form of javascript on your pages, and for now the only way to re-enable it is to “contact Support”.
Just “contact Support” is vague enough in itself, so here’s a quick guide on what to write in your request to them so you can get approved asap. Please note that it may take some time for them to process your request. This exact method isn’t guaranteed, but here’s what I did that got me approved within a week.
2. In the Category option, choose “Customizing your Tumblr”.
3. In the message box, list out all the blogs you want to use custom pages on. Then, give a brief description of what you use those blogs for. You only need to state the blog names, *not* each of the custom page urls, or the javascript file links. Here’s a template:
(Remember the please & thankyous! Staff are flooded with requests right now so be mindful).
4. Skip the Attachmentpart.
5. For the Relevant Blogoption, pick your main blog (the very first blog you created on your account)
6. For the Account Email, enter the email you use to sign in to Tumblr
7. Complete the Captcha and wait for the tick ✓ to show
8. Click Next.
9. You’ll reach the “Does any of this help?” screen. No, it does not. Scroll to the bottom and click “No, send my thing”.
And done! You’ll receive a confirmation email from staff that they’ve received your request. They will not send you a reply if your blogs have been approved for javascript usage. You need to check your custom pages every few days to see if you can save any edits, or if you can install new ones.
✲ edit: they do send you a reply, but you might’ve already been granted javascript usage approval *before* they send an email back!
To everyone that has been affected by the new security update and can no longer edit and save changes on their pages due to JavaScript within the code, you have to contact support for them to reenable it on your blog.
All the information is copied and pasted below, and can also be viewed in the source link. In the meantime, the only way around it is to remove any Javascript from blog pages(tooltips, filters, tabs, pop ups, etc.)
Hello, Tumblr.
We’re tightening security on blogs to prevent bad actors (such as spammers) from using malicious JavaScript on Tumblr. These changes likely won’t affect many of you, and no action is required on anyone’s part, but we wanted to be clear about them. Here’s what’s happening:
Javascript is not allowed at all in blog descriptions. If we detect it, we’ll simply remove it when the blog is viewed.
Blog pages cannot have JavaScript as well. If we detect it, we’ll remove it when the blog is viewed. If you try to edit a blog page that contains JavaScript, you’ll see an error message that reads: Looks like you’re trying to add some Javascript or invalid html to your page. You’ll need to contact Support if you’d like to use Javascript.
JavaScript in your custom theme code or installed theme is still fine and is not affected by these changes.
Hey wait. I’m doing [cool and not malicious thing] with JavaScript. Can’t you make an exception?
For sure. We love when people do cool and not malicious things on Tumblr. If you need to use some JavaScript on a page or in your description, reach out to Support and we’ll get it sorted out for you.
Following EA’s rebranding of the Sims 4, almost all existing images or graphics of the series are no longer supported. This, in turn, affects the wonderful blog icons @ohmysims404 made for use around Simblr. So, I ended up updating the existing code & replacing the old images with the new icons. I plan on keeping them up to date, so feel free to revisit this post when a new pack releases!
(via the original post) HOW TO USE:Click here to see the code. Copy the code and delete the line which has the name of EPs/GPs/SPs you don’t have & paste it into your theme HTML. If you own all of the EPs/GPs/SPs, etc. you do not need to edit the code. Since every theme has a different layout, paste it where it is applicable to you. In most cases, pasting the code into the description section of your theme via edit mode works best.
this theme is made to be a fansite/network theme but it’s got a ton of options and is very customizable so if you wanna use it as a regular theme feel free! all the boxes can be toggled on/off
only the affiliates and events boxes need to be edited in the code, everything else can be changed in the customize panel!! if you want to move around any of the sidebar boxes or any of the menu sections you’ll need to do that in the code too (contact me if you need help)
more info and all the features are listed below the cut!

these sections will only show up if there is something written in the subtitlefields

the header image is the full width and almost the full height of the window so any excess will be cut off, the image will automatically readjust to the size of the window
i recommend using a large HQ image
the header text box includes your title and whatever you put in the custom description
*auto scroll down:
if you enable this feature whenever your blog loads it will automatically scroll past the header to your posts

stats & links boxes:
these boxes are the same as the stats and links sections in the slideout menu!!
the title for these boxes will be subtitle two and three
moving boxes/menu sections:
if u want to put a sidebar box on the left side instead of the right or vice versa, copy the entire section and paste it within either the left sidebar or the right sidebar
same goes for the menu - if you want to move a menu section to the left or right sides, copy the entire section and paste it within the left menu or the right menu
in general tumblr’s customization window is buggy:
make sure you toggle all the options on and off when you first install the theme
certain features will look different/not work in the customization window, save your changes and see how it actually looks on your blog before sending me an ask
Made some more Tumblr banners in case you want a blog refresh! As with my other icons, banners and dividers; feel free to use them on your profile or on any posts if you want to, but please comment or reblog if you do.
