I’m so happy that @mattelcreations and scary-talented @rebecula13 finally brought us back our ghouls in all their glory! I made this fanart months ago. As soon as I heard the rumors about the possibility of releasing collector’s MH dolls inspired by two fantastic movies “It” and “The Shining”, I had to make my version of Grady tweens. I was inspired by so many details from the movie and the scenes where Grady tweens appeared. Can you spot them all? ‍♀️

To reserve your spot, please register by calling the Information Services Desk at (706) 821-2615 or by emailing Ms. Jordi, our YA Librarian, at [email protected]. Celebrating National Scholarship Month

November is National Scholarship Month! Join Ms. Jordi, our YA Librarian, as she shares with you helpful resources that the library offers and more to assist you in finding free money to pay for college.  Even if you’re in middle school, it’s not too early to start searching for scholarships if you plan to attend college in the future.  In fact, the sooner the better!

Join us for a relaxing craft at Headquarters on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 as we create beautiful fall-themed string art. You’ll learn how to create string art by using a wooden board, embroidery thread, a hammer, and nails. For safety and convenience, the boards will already be nailed in advance with several fall-themed templates that you can choose from. Because supplies are limited, please register to reserve your spot by calling the Information Services desk at (706) 821-2615.

If you enjoy reading spooky tales, join Ms. Jordi as she gives several YA book recommendations for middle and high school students that you can check out at the library.  But be warned:  Read if you dare!

Happy October 1st everyone! Join us on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Headquarters for a crafternoon of painting ceramic pumpkin banks that you get to take home while enjoying pumpkin spice refreshments. Because supplies are limited, reservations are required. Please call Ms. Jordi (our YA Librarian) at (706) 434-2036 or the Information Services Desk at (706) 821-2615 to reserve your spot.

An important part of adulting is taking care of one’s mental health. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, join Ms. Jordi as she shares several YA and Adult books (fiction and nonfiction) that you and your family can read that discuss the importance of mental health and self-care.

Today is Mental Health Action Day! If you haven’t done so, you can take action by registering for the “Mental Health Awareness for Teens: Reading Challenge” at https://arcpls.beanstack.org/. When you register by this Saturday, you’ll be entered into our weekly prize drawing. This week’s prize pack contains a DIY journal (you can decorate the cover), a self-care calendar for tweens/teens, coloring pages, crayons, bookmarks, a Ryan Clark Scholarship stress ball, an ARCPLS tote bag, and more.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Ryan Clark Scholarship and Community Service Award, it is in honor of Ryan Clark, a 2002 Lakeside High School graduate, who was set to graduate from Virginia Tech in 2007 when he lost his life after he went to the aid of a fellow student. To find out more about the scholarship, go to: http://cccc4kids.org/ryan-clark-scholarship/

To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month, join Ms. Jordi as she shares how to create your own stress balls using a balloon, water beads, and a water bottle. For May, we have limited take and make kits for this craft that is included with our tween/teen self-care kits.  Pick up a kit in the YA area next to the Information Services Desk on the 2nd floor or call (706) 821-2615 to pick one up via curbside service.  Kits are available on a first come, first serve basis.
