You held your breath as you fought the urge to cry and scream after your pinky toe caught the corner of Stephen’s desk. His eyelids twitched in his sleep and you feared he would wake but he merely mumbled something incoherent before turning his head away. A small snore fell from his lips and it was then you noticed the spell book you were after was currently being used for a pillow.
You were in desperate need of the book but it was restricted to the Sorcerer Supreme and a handful of other senior spell masters, something you were not. Deciding the risk was worth the reward, you carefully lifted your boyfriend’s head up and slipped the book from its place, sliding a third edition spell refraction in its place. You slipped from the study silently as your toe ached painfully and sighed with relief as you made it back to your room unnoticed.
“Hand it over.” Your scream was silenced with a wave of his hand and you looked at the floor ashamed as Stephen stepped through the portal from his study and into your room. “You could hurt yourself performing spells beyond your control.”
