I’m really interested in exploring the culture of the Vanyar. I see them as highly devout and I was musing about how that would play out with those who had Vanyarin lineage in Middle Earth. How did they feel about being exiles of Valinor? So many head canons….so little time.

You know those old chemistry sets from the 50’s? The ones that were SUUUUPER concerning in retrospect and were like “Make explosions in your back yard without even the barest presence of safety equipment! Mix random chemicals and see what happens! Ok I’m not saying that the Noldor would have things like for their kids but also I’m totally saying the Noldor would have stuff like that for their kids.
Adding this to my headcanon that Vanyarin children have unlimited supplies of stuff like these

Whatever they bring home from the woods/beach, of course!
They would totally have craft kits for shells, and I think they’d have the kinds of “ocean in a bottle” toys that I used to love as a kid

In Tolkien’s universe the Vanyar are the fairest and most noble of the High Elves. They are the smallest of the three clans of the Eldar, and were the first to arrive in Aman and then never left it (excepts the War of Wrath).
There was a fair lady of the Vanyar, Indis of the House of Ingwë. She had loved Finwë in her heart, ever since the days when the Vanyar and the Noldor lived close together. In one of his wanderings Finwë met her again upon the inner slopes of Oiolossë, the Mountain of Manwë and Varda; and her face was lit by the golden light of Laurelin that was shining in the plain of Ezellohar below. In that hour Finwë perceived in her eyes the love that had before been hidden from him. So it came to pass that Finwë and Indis desired to be wedded, and Finwë sought the counsel of the Valar….

Vanyarin Portraits: Ingwë, Indis, Elemmírë, Elenwë, Amarië, and Idril.
Alrighty, it’s time for the Vanyar! Their designs are inspired by old tea gowns, with the frills and poofy, flowing sleeves and occasional frilly collar. The colours can range from pastel to dark, but I went with more pastel-y here XDD
As far as I know, Elemmírë’s gender is unknown, so I’ve decided to go with the headcanon that they’re bigender, both male and female! Also, I know Idril isn’t a full Vanya, but I wanted to keep the portraits at an even number, so I added her in to keep Elenwë company loll Her dress is a mix of frilly Vanyarin and streamlined Noldorin fashion, and I imagine she’s the type to stay moderate on the fancy embroidery XDD
