Okay so I just got inspired by a video by the youtuber Dramamaster and their most recent video and wouldn’t it be cool if there was an MBTI like personality typing system for Kdrama watchers? What drama watcher personality type do you have? I’m an OFBJ

Watcher type 

O- Ongoing Watchers (Drama fans that watch dramas as new episodes are released weekly)

L- Late Watchers (Drama fans that don’t start the drama until the last episode has premiered and all episodes are available on a streaming service to binge in one go) 

Q- Quitters (Drama fans that try to get through dramas but usually end up quitting the drama when it starts to lose steam and drags out towards the end/ Drama fans that take long breaks between episodes and go back to the drama after) 

Reactions 

F- The Over- Feeler (Drama fans that find them selves crying after every emotional scene)

A- The Angry Fan (drama fans that find them selves getting genuinely angry with the character/ the characters actions/ the treatment of the character by the writers of the show) 

I- The Indifferent Fan (They don’t get too invested with the emotions of the drama and they don’t let it affect them as much as others)

Support (who are you rooting for?)

M- Main Lead Lovers ( Drama fans that actually enjoy when the main lead ends up with their main counterpart, typically enjoy the predictability of dramas and like seeing the two mains relationship blossom)

S- Second Main Lead Lovers (Drama fans that often root for the underdog and root for the main lead to end up with the second main lead, often has second male lead syndrome and roots for them even though they’re well aware that they may never get together)

B- Bromance Lovers (Drama fans that are honestly there to watch their to experience the friendship and often enjoys scenes between the main character’s and their best friends rather than their love interests)

C- Content creators (After the drama ends they keep the drama alive in their hearts and everyone elses’ by sharing the drama and creating posts and reviews about to share with the public)

Descendants of the Sun (2016) A love story between Captain Yoo Shi Jin, Korean Special Forces, and Doctor Kang Mo Yeon, surgeon at Haesung Hospital. Together they face danger in a war torn country. (really cute and funny)

Good Morning Call 1 (2016-2017) Nao has to share her new apartment with the most popular boy in school and no one can know they live together. (involves a mini love triangle and is super cute)

Good Morning Call 2 (2017) - Nao and Uehara are now in college and are neighbors, Uehara’s new best friend slowly developes feelings for Nao as Uehara’s new boss starts to like him.

Overprotected Kahoko (2017)❤️ Is too much love really love? Shielded by her parents, Kahoko grew up completely pampered. She is 21 years old and about to start working for a company, but she has never slept away from home, had a part time job, chosen her own clothes, or even ridden a train alone.

My Mr. Mermaid (2017)⭐️ the story of competitive college swimmers and a rookie reporter’s comedy love story. This is such a sweet and charming show, the male lead is always worrying about her and making sure she’s ok. it’s just the cutest thing ever. plus his best friend and mom are hilarious and high key ship it.

Meteor Garden (2018)⭐️ Dong Shancai is determined to excel at her dream university, where she encounters an elite clique of dashing, popular high-achievers – and finds love. (the Chinese version of Boys Over Flowers but a little different, I actually like this adaptation more)

Attention, My Love! (2017) ❤️ A long time ago, two best friends each had a child. One named his son Li Zheng, which means “attention,” and the other named his daughter Shao Xi, which means “at ease” in military terminology. They are destined to be together.

I started watching Kdramas barely in 2018 and at first my all time favorite had been The Heirs. I fell in love with Lee Minho and watched all his leading role dramas. Suddenly I came across Whats wrong with Secretary Kim and I couldn’t get over it! It had then become my all time favorite Kdrama. Fast forward to 26 K dramas later and I felt like Whats wrong with Secretary Kim remained undefeated. 

I kept wondering what romcom drama I should watch next that would make me get the same feels that The Heirs andWWWSK gave me, but it didn’t seem possible. Many came close but never quite perfect. My friend mentioned many times that one of her favorite K dramas was Secret Garden and she somewhat told me the premise of it, but I wasn’t that interested in the fantasy elements of it, and it sounded old and boring. I WAS curious about it though, especially because I’m a huge BIGBANG fan and I had watched their parody of it. 

As I was looking for my next drama, I was also slightly curious about Memories of the Alhambra but once again the fantasy elements turned me off. Since Crash Landing on You was being talked about a lot I decided to give it a shot. At first I didn’t really think Hyun Bin was THAT good looking, he seemed average. But I really did enjoy the drama overall. It gave me cute feels and it was charming and funny. The finale left me hanging though and Hyun Bin’s charm got to me. So i decided to look at his list of leading Kdramas. I had not realized he was the lead in both Secret GardenandMemories of the Alhambra! So I was debating which one to go with first. I decided to give Secret Garden a shot.

*cue tiktok*….and it went like………

I FELL IN LOVE!!!!!!Not only with Hyun Bin but with the show!!!! Its not a perfect kdrama, but the relationship was what I was CRAVING!!!!!!!

I was so depressed when i finished it, and I immediately bought the dvd set on ebay. 

I am now watching Memories of the Alhambra….but omg, Secret Garden stole my heart.

Its negative points from me are basically just that they spent too much time on the secondary characters, which were interesting but it left me craving more from the lead characters. Another issue was the no s*x scene. It did hint at one so i guess for an older K drama I should be satisfied XD 

I saw negative reviews about the drama because of the way the male lead would grab the female lead and they saw it as har**sment, but to be honest….I loved it. Obviously its not for everybody, especially because of the new woke culture…..but for me it got my blood pressure going ;)

I’ve mentioned before the tropes that I look for:

-jealous guy
-stalkerish
-hard-to-get female lead
-cheesiness….

and just like the heirsandwhats wrong with secretary kim,secret garden excelled in this and pleased my soul! NOW i don’t know if I will find anything better than this. 

Oh well, at least I have a couple more of Hyun Bin dramas to get through to quench my thirst!
