LIVE

Okay so I just got inspired by a video by the youtuber Dramamaster and their most recent video and wouldn’t it be cool if there was an MBTI like personality typing system for Kdrama watchers? What drama watcher personality type do you have? I’m an OFBJ

Watcher type

O- Ongoing Watchers (Drama fans that watch dramas as new episodes are released weekly)

L- Late Watchers (Drama fans that don’t start the drama until the last episode has premiered and all episodes are available on a streaming service to binge in one go)

Q- Quitters (Drama fans that try to get through dramas but usually end up quitting the drama when it starts to lose steam and drags out towards the end/ Drama fans that take long breaks between episodes and go back to the drama after)

Reactions

F- The Over- Feeler (Drama fans that find them selves crying after every emotional scene)

A- The Angry Fan (drama fans that find them selves getting genuinely angry with the character/ the characters actions/ the treatment of the character by the writers of the show)

I- The Indifferent Fan (They don’t get too invested with the emotions of the drama and they don’t let it affect them as much as others)

Support (who are you rooting for?)

M- Main Lead Lovers ( Drama fans that actually enjoy when the main lead ends up with their main counterpart, typically enjoy the predictability of dramas and like seeing the two mains relationship blossom)

S- Second Main Lead Lovers (Drama fans that often root for the underdog and root for the main lead to end up with the second main lead, often has second male lead syndrome and roots for them even though they’re well aware that they may never get together)

B- Bromance Lovers (Drama fans that are honestly there to watch their to experience the friendship and often enjoys scenes between the main character’s and their best friends rather than their love interests)

After

C- Content creators (After the drama ends they keep the drama alive in their hearts and everyone elses’ by sharing the drama and creating posts and reviews about to share with the public)

J- Jokers (Drama fans that keep the drama alive by constantly quoting inside jokes from the drama that really only people that have watched the drama understand)

H- Memory Holder (Drama fans that constantly rewatch the drama over and over because they just love it)

“Alarme do amor ”

O celular toca

e vibra, pulsante,

mais do que o próprio coração.

Numa distopia assustadora

Jojo & Sun Oh | The one that saves me

overhyped kdramas

Note: I am not here to criticize any actor, or director/writer, but sharing my personal opinion on these dramas.

Crash landing on you - brilliant cast with great bromance and chemistry amongst all characters. At some point, their romance felt hopeless because of where the two are from, but it’s your typical romance storyline, so of course they find a way. This is definitely an excellent drama that depicts life in North Korea (acclaimed by many refugees) but was too hyped.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Start up - since reply 1988, I’ve never had a worse second lead syndrome. The drama opened up really strong with lots of backstory and then it went downhill from there. The highlight of this drama was the relationship between Ji-pyeong and halmeoni (grandma won-deok).

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Itaewon class - accurately captures the privileges (or self-righteousness one has) that comes with your social status. Aside from a great diverse cast and meaningful messages, we know how the story will unfold because it follows the typical kdrama troupe of revenge.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The King: Eternal Monarch - whenever stories involve time travel, it usually gets messy and complicated (unless you’re the writer of back to the future or the avenger movies). I was expecting so much because of it’s talented acclaimed scriptwriter, Kim Eun Sook. I think this was a big flop due to it’s slow and confusing plot (and let’s not get started on it’s product placement). PS. I love you Lee Minho and Woo Dohwan.

K-Drama Review: Love Alarm

I had just finished watching Descendants of the sun and I was not ready to move on from my post-kdrama-depression, so I figured I’d watch a lighthearted drama. Bruh, I was not prepared for this roller-coaster of emotions. I literally started watching it last night around 11:30pm thinking I was only going to watch 1 episode…BIG MISTAKE.

In hindsight, a way to describe this drama is as ‘The Heirs’ on crack! It had overall a feel very familiar that I’ve seen before in kdramas and of course it included the technology theme plus hot surprises that I rarely see in korean dramas.

As I was watching episode 1, I didn’t find that leads that attractive. I found Song Kang to have an attractive body and beautiful lips…but nothing special. And usually when I can’t find the leads attractive, I don’t get invested in their romance. I was also super sleepy since I had only planned to watch one episode….and halfway through episode 1, nothing exciting had happened so i contemplated in going to bed instead……well i didn’t, and when the final scene occurred, suddenly I didn’t know what sleep was!

DIVING INTO IT:

In episode one we get introduced to these 2 guy best friends. Sun-oh immediately finds out that his best friend is IN LOVE with this mystery girl. Why on earth does he start pursuing her then??? He knows how deeply his friend feels as he watched him stalk the girl. Then he goes on ahead and kiss her? That was really effed up! As the episodes go on, we are showed how good of a friend Hye-yeong is towards Sun-oh, which only intensifies my annoyance on what Sun-oh did. The only thing that kind of redeemed Sun-oh (I guess) was that he never hid it from Hye-yeong, he told him straight up that he kissed her. On the last episode though, Sun-oh is upset that Hye-yeong wants to pursue her…like how DARE HE!!!!!!! After what HE did.

Furthermore, the love story... even though what I said above has me livid, the way the romance emerged had some themes that are truly my guilty pleasures. We have some stalking, dominance, jealousy and cheesiness. All which I loved in The Heirs and which Sun-oh did VERY well. When Sun-oh and Jojo went to the alley and the first thing he said was “do you wanna kiss” I GASPEDDDDDDD. The way he said her lips were beautiful and didn’t care that she had a boyfriend……ahhhhh……it had me more excited than i care to admit. One of the best scenes I see played out in episode 1 of a kdrama! Usually the boys hide their interest in the girl for at least 3 episodes before they start acting on it, but Sun-oh went straight for it and it had me weak in the knees! Overall it kept me begging for more.

Side notes:

  • -The theme about su***de scares me a bit, especially because its being portrayed more than once…but hopefully they’re able to give helpful advice on it in season 2.
  • -the bullying when it came to jojo and duk gu …and even the lgbt boy had my heart break.
  • -this drama has me super stressed and on the verge of tears when I wanted it to be lighthearted and cute.

Season 2

  • It appears to be delayed and it scares me that they will not come through it. Hopefully they do, because I’m left on a cliff hanger and not sure where to go for comfort .
  • Predictions: Well, not really predictions but what I hope happens:
  • Jojo to date Hye-yeong for like 2 episodes because he deserves it. However, in the middle of it, for Sun-oh to start stalking jojo and aggressively kissing her(sorry thats what i’m in to), I wanna see Sun-oh act like he did on episode one, only more passionate. I want Hye-yeong to find love elsewhere and be happy. And of course, I need a Sun-oh/Jojo endgame! (Is a se* scene too much to ask?)

Send me Kdrama recommendations!

PS: I now find Song Kang HOT AFFFFF.
