Okay so I just got inspired by a video by the youtuber Dramamaster and their most recent video and wouldn’t it be cool if there was an MBTI like personality typing system for Kdrama watchers? What drama watcher personality type do you have? I’m an OFBJ

Watcher type

O- Ongoing Watchers (Drama fans that watch dramas as new episodes are released weekly)

L- Late Watchers (Drama fans that don’t start the drama until the last episode has premiered and all episodes are available on a streaming service to binge in one go)

Q- Quitters (Drama fans that try to get through dramas but usually end up quitting the drama when it starts to lose steam and drags out towards the end/ Drama fans that take long breaks between episodes and go back to the drama after)

Reactions

F- The Over- Feeler (Drama fans that find them selves crying after every emotional scene)

A- The Angry Fan (drama fans that find them selves getting genuinely angry with the character/ the characters actions/ the treatment of the character by the writers of the show)

I- The Indifferent Fan (They don’t get too invested with the emotions of the drama and they don’t let it affect them as much as others)

Support (who are you rooting for?)

M- Main Lead Lovers ( Drama fans that actually enjoy when the main lead ends up with their main counterpart, typically enjoy the predictability of dramas and like seeing the two mains relationship blossom)

S- Second Main Lead Lovers (Drama fans that often root for the underdog and root for the main lead to end up with the second main lead, often has second male lead syndrome and roots for them even though they’re well aware that they may never get together)

B- Bromance Lovers (Drama fans that are honestly there to watch their to experience the friendship and often enjoys scenes between the main character’s and their best friends rather than their love interests)

C- Content creators (After the drama ends they keep the drama alive in their hearts and everyone elses’ by sharing the drama and creating posts and reviews about to share with the public)

J- Jokers (Drama fans that keep the drama alive by constantly quoting inside jokes from the drama that really only people that have watched the drama understand)

H- Memory Holder (Drama fans that constantly rewatch the drama over and over because they just love it)

This year I probably watched like 10 korean dramas already thiswhathappenswhenyougetyourheartbrokenbut I thought I got inspired to make outfits. They honestly dress on point no matter what they wearrrr.

Happy Pride Month! ✨

To celebrate this year, I asked for my instagram followers to give me 6 lgbt+ characters to make fan art of. I got a lot to choose from and I chose not to repeat the same characters that I did last year.

1st batch:

Angel (Pose), Vanya Hargreeves (Umbrella Academy), David Rose (Schitt’s Creek), Jamie (The Haunting of Bly Manor), Jesper (Shadow and Bone), and Garnet (Steven Universe)

2nd batch:

Lady Hideko (The Handmaiden), Hedwig (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Sarawat (2gether Series), Loki (Marvel), Ma Hyun Yi (Itaewon Class), and Anne Lister (Gentleman Jack)

Itaewon has become famous with a hit K-drama Itaewon Class 이태원 클라쓰 (2020 JTBC), but the current situation in Itaewon is a real mess.

When South Koreans believed that the corona virus crisis is almost ending here in South Korea, an IT office worker popped out of nowhere and was turned out to have infected almost 2000 people during last week’s golden holidays.

The 29-year-old man went to five gay clubs in Itaewon over a night (May 2, 2020) without wearing a mask, and was confirmed to be positive a few days later. He seems to have infected nearly 2,000 people there. So far about 40+ confirmed patients have been infected by this one super spreader.

Korean CDC simply announced that he went to ‘clubs’ that night, but some conservative Christian media immediately reported that they were all gay clubs. This can be seen as a kind of accumulated conflict exploding. So far, Christians had been condemned by the public as well as the leftists as a hotbed of the epidemic after the mass infection of Sincheonji cult church of Jesus in Daegu city. The conservatives including Christians have complained that the government was not cracking down on nightclubs at all while shutting down churches, schools, and gyms.

Anyways, as a result of the media report, almost every infected people from now on will be outed as a gay to their family, neighbors, or workplace. Moreover, it seems to be difficult to find them. it was compulsory for the clubs to get their guests’ name and contact numbers in front of the club’s door, but almost 1,300 of the 2,000 guests have left fake numbers. Of course general public got mad and criticized them as selfish idiots for not wearing a mask in the clubs and leaving fake numbers.

The mayor of Seoul is a liberal leftist. He took a strong stance toward conservative churches and forcibly seized the list of the Shincheonji church members in the name of “For public safety”. I don’t know what he would do this time. If he does the same thing, it will be criticized as a serious violation of the privacy of homosexuals who are actually his political supporters. If he doesn’t, he will be criticized as a hypocrite.

overhyped kdramas

Note: I am not here to criticize any actor, or director/writer, but sharing my personal opinion on these dramas.

Crash landing on you - brilliant cast with great bromance and chemistry amongst all characters. At some point, their romance felt hopeless because of where the two are from, but it’s your typical romance storyline, so of course they find a way. This is definitely an excellent drama that depicts life in North Korea (acclaimed by many refugees) but was too hyped.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Start up - since reply 1988, I’ve never had a worse second lead syndrome. The drama opened up really strong with lots of backstory and then it went downhill from there. The highlight of this drama was the relationship between Ji-pyeong and halmeoni (grandma won-deok).

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Itaewon class - accurately captures the privileges (or self-righteousness one has) that comes with your social status. Aside from a great diverse cast and meaningful messages, we know how the story will unfold because it follows the typical kdrama troupe of revenge.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The King: Eternal Monarch - whenever stories involve time travel, it usually gets messy and complicated (unless you’re the writer of back to the future or the avenger movies). I was expecting so much because of it’s talented acclaimed scriptwriter, Kim Eun Sook. I think this was a big flop due to it’s slow and confusing plot (and let’s not get started on it’s product placement). PS. I love you Lee Minho and Woo Dohwan.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️

Must watch kdramas

Mr. Sunshine - powerful messages about women empowerment, identity, and patriotism. A story about a woman’s unwavering belief in protecting her country, and three men and a lady who are united by a common goal to protect her and help accomplish her goal.

“Gun. Glory. Sad ending.”

Rating (out of 5): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Prison Playbook - personal stories of redemption, silent suffering, bullying, drug addiction, and hope. The drama shows life within the prison walls and it displays that not all people are inherently bad, but their current position in life threatens them to make certain decisions.

“I wanted to give up hundreds of times every day… but how could I give up?”

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hi Bye Mama - a story about learning to let go. When faced with difficult decisions, there is no easy answer, no easy way. Slow plot but that’s exactly what makes this drama unlike the others. The agonizing wait of what is to come builds up as the main character makes her final decision.

“Perhaps the most beautiful thing we can feel in life is telling someone that we love them and thanking someone whom we’re thankful for. I realized it’s a great joy to give and that you end up feeling sorry if you always receive.”

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Reply 1988 - part of the reply series, but this one emphasizes on the familial relationships between the characters which is an important aspect of this story. The ending will either satisfy you or disappoint you but you know what they say, can’t please everyone. PS this is how I fell in love with ryu junyeol ❤️‍

“Time will always flow. Everything will pass by. That might be why youth is beautiful. It shines, blindingly bright, for just an instant. But you can never go back to it.”

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo - a story about the power struggle within the palace walls. The plotting and betrayals will lead to dire consequences. Once you have lost something, there is no going back in time, once you have lost someone, you can never bring them back. There is no second chance.

“A place that’s hard to enter and even harder to leave. You end up dying if you trust anyone. You’ll live if you remain alert and wary of those closest to you. It’s a place like that.”
