I am very amused about the fact that Marius and Vyn both crave the MC’s attention and time so badly, it’s just Vyn hides it really well and Marius just comes out of the gate like “PRAISE ME, CHOOSE ME,PICK ME”

Since this is actually getting notes (which I didn’t think would happen??) I kinda wanna expand on it just a tad bit.

I feel as though all of the four LI’s seek MC’s attention, it’s just in varying ways. Artem doesn’t really understand HOW to speak to MC in the ways that Vyn, Marius, and Luke can, so his most often approach is simply giving himself the option to be near and close to her physically.

This is why he goes to get coffee from the pantry instead of his office, or requires work in order to properly talk with her without outside help! While he wants to speak to MC in those situations he’s too unsure of himself and how to interact with her so he simply enjoys being near her instead OR needs work/another’s influence to properly start conversations with her.

Luke, Vyn, and Marius do not have this issue due to the fact that they are either:

A: socially adept enough to interact with the MC even outside of work settings (Vyn and Marius)

OR

B: have known MC long enough to be comfortable around her (Luke)

Vyn, while able to communicate with the MC, still has a wall between them due to his view of needing to be perfect in order to deserve MC’s attention. This is why I always feel like there is a wall of vulnerability between Vyn and MC due to this. While MC has been vulnerable with Vyn, Vyn believes that if he shows weakness or flaws that MC will not want to spend time with him anymore, and thus even plans trying to be vulnerable with her to receive comfort (Fake Tears story is an example of this).

Marius and Luke I feel have both been the most open and vulnerable with the MC, all while being able to interact comfortably with her. While Luke is more stunted on openness due to his health situation and not wanting to burden the MC, he has still shown moments of vulnerability and comfort with her. He seeks her attention due to wanting to spend as much time with her as he possibly can (especially after the second act of his Personal Story) and openly joking around and bantering with the MC in ways the other LI’s cannot due to their shared history and comfort from being childhood friends.

Marius is also able to converse comfortably with the MC, and their back and forth allows him to retain her attention for longer. The MC is also able to read his struggle with being a CEO but also it wanting to lose his passion for art along the way, despite him not explicitly confiding in her. Her opinion is one of the most important things to him, and because of that he constantly wants to know what she thinks of him and wants her praise and admiration.

This is why he is constantly vying for her attention in a similar way to Vyn. Both crave MC’s attention, but Marius simply banters and teases the MC to get her to focus on him, while Vyn projects an image of a perfect professional in order to get MC to BELIEVE he is worth spending time with him, since he thinks that he can only be worthy of attention from those he cares for by being perfect. Marius doesn’t have this self worth issue, so while their goal is the same (attention and praise from the MC) their methods are different!

Luke really didn’t think through letting you fix his board with him. Of course Luke can never really think anything through when you’re involved, but he still manages to be surprised by just how much trouble he can get himself into.

The sunlight casting over your face as you concentrate on lifting the board so he can check the truck axle for any damage has his breath hitching in his throat, and there’s only so much self control he really has before his hand impulsively twitches towards his pocket. This really isn’t the time or the place, but just the knowledge of the ring nestled inside has him feeling settled enough to look up at you again.

“You know for someone who has never skateboarded before, you sure are good at helping me fix my own board.” You scoff and he can barely smother the grin edging onto his face.

“Yeah sure, because holding a piece of wood in place is something only skateboarding experts can do.” He thinks he missed this most of all. Just talking to you, getting to ask about your day or seeing the crinkles on the corners of your eyes when you smile as you talk. The way your voice lilts as you speak, all of these things are what makes you, you. And there was only so much imagining he could do, all alone, before he started to miss seeing you in action.

“Tony Hawk only wishes he could be you~” he practically coos at you, leaning over the board to get closer as you throw your head back and laugh. He basks in the sound, something so quintessentially you, and after so long of being starved for the comfort of your voice it makes moments like these all the more special for him.

“Well alright then Sherlock,” you quickly stand up, gently pushing the board forward so he could catch it. “If I’m gonna beat Tony Hawk I better figure out how to stand on the board first.” You reach out your hand to him, and he realizes he hasn’t been this happy in eight years.

He smiles. He takes your hand.

artem was written by a woman in her thirties who has life figured out. stable job, great apartment, solid group of friends, the perfect collection of cardigans, owns two cats named sun and moon. has everything she could ever want in life, all she needs is the perfect man who has mastered the art of cooking her favorite food.

luke was written by a sweet old lady reminiscing on her first love. she keeps a picture of him in a locket hidden beneath her pillow. a childhood friend she eventually had to part ways with. and though she eventually had to marry someone else, she still thinks of him every now and again, hoping he’s okay.

marius was written by himself, because no one else had the time, energy, nor patience do it themselves. he doesn’t mind though because he could at least make himself the main character. though he has been going through several re-edits by the general public. it’s okay because he’s reedited by himself anyways.

vyn was written by taylor swift. red era taylor? reputation era? lover? folklore/evermore? an amalgamation of all of them? jury’s still out on this one. either that or a collaborative effort from a man on very thin ice and jane austen. 

rosa / mc was written by a hungover college student on the train ride home from a frat party, swearing that they’d never drink again and actually start getting their life together.

let me get “the reason ur thinking of” out of the way immediately because yes, yes this scene is so hot to me because Hands and Mouth and please, im a simple guy, i see my favorite character and Hands and Mouth and i am satisfied! and here luke is, putting on his gloves while biting the other, I AM SATISFIED!

however, what really got me here was the other things he did. or rather, the stuff he used for it. because this scene has me blown away. cuz like

ive already freaked out about this before but i will Do It Again. he meows. he MEOWS. not just in the jp dub, but in s-cn dub too, and i hope this is also true in the other 2 language dubs cuz POV: LUKE PEARCE MEOWS AT A STRAY CAT TO PSPSPSPSS IT TOWARDS HIM!!!

yes yes he was meowing to cats for Investigation reasons but DAVIS in the Fieldwork function says that he sees luke often preoccupied with stray cats, so even for non-investigation purposes, hes gonna be meowing at strays. hes gonna be crouching to the ground with a can of cat food and meowing and all the stray cats of south stellis have pledged their loyalty to this strange man who has the vibes of a dog and constantly hangs around a bird but is also very kind to cats

the animal population of stellis city has undoubtedly decreed luke pearce as the Goodest Boy. and u KNOW thats when a dude is top tier

luke pearce, hand in marriage now. i told my girlfriend about this bit and she agrees that this is the hottest thing ever, and we’re both right. and idk how im supposed to explain this further, it’s HOT. IT’S SO HARD PUTTING SHEETS ON A BED (OR MAYBE I JUST SUCK AT IT) AND LUKE PEARCE DOES IT EASY PEASY NO PROBLEM.

luke pearce may be absolute shit at cooking, but he DO THE CLEANING, he DO THE BED MAKING, he DO THE CAPTURING OF MY WHOLE AND ENTIRE HEART!!

It’s been two years, and even then, Luke thinks that you’re the most beautiful person he’s ever laid his eyes on. 

You’d finally taken and passed your senior attorney exam, and your co-workers took it upon themselves to throw you a celebration. He watches as you, along with your new, golden badge neatly pinned onto the lapel of your jacket, laughed along with Kiki and Celestine. Out of nowhere, Artem and Marius pop up from the crowd, the younger male seemingly having just arrived. Luke figured that was the case, as he handed you a neatly wrapped package along with a tight hug, one that you surprisingly welcomed and returned. 

“You know, you could go and talk to her right now.” He gave a small smile of acknowledgement to Vyn, who joined him in leaning against the function room’s back wall.

“I could, but should I?” Seeing you, happily mingling with your friends was definitely a sight to behold for him, so much so that even from the distance, he could feel the warmth your presence emits. “She looks happy.”

“Both you and I know she’d be happier with you around.” Turning to look at the newly arrived person, Luke’s wide irises met Marius’ surprisingly soft gaze. “It’s been confirmed that you’re fully cured already.Be selfish for once,Sherlock. Their happiness has always been entwined with yours, it always has been, always will be.” 

Distracted by the two men’s constant attempts to convince him, he didn’t notice you frantically navigating yourself through the crowd. As much as he’d tried to disguise himself, you’d always recognize him. How could you not, really? After all those years of being with him, you have already memorized his familiar build, from the tufts of bright hair sticking out from the haphazardly-placed hat to his unconscious habit of fiddling with scraps of metal he -for some reason- carries around.

“Luke! Luke… is that you?” 

His head snaps up in record time, frantically looking around before his eyes finally settled on your heaving form. It was like time stopped outside the little bubble enclosing the two of you, the other only focusing on the other’s presence. After months of longing, of wondering how the other was doing, of thinking about how it would feel like to embrace their beloved once again— if only for a moment. But now… maybe now that if only could finally happen in reality.

“I… I’m sorry.”

He had so many words to say, yet that was all Luke could really say. You stood there, motionless for a while, before walking closer and taking his arm, bringing him to a more secluded area. As soon as you got there, he barely had time to prepare himself before you slapped him. Hard.

Luke closed his eyes, letting you release all the pent-up anger you felt towards him. It’s what I deserve, he thought. All the while, your hits eventually become weaker and weaker, and only then does he realize that you’d been sobbing uncontrollably. He engulfed you in a hug, ignoring your protests that were growing weaker the closer he held you, until you eventually gave up playing tough and held onto him for dear life, with him doing his best to quell your tears as he dealt with his. You may have an anger towards him for disappearing on you for the second time, but your love for your Sherlock was greater.

Three minutes later, two hushed voices were heard from the area.

“You’re an asshole.”

“I know.”

“You could have told me about everything.”

“I know.”

Another bout of silence.

“I love you.” 

The confession rings in the air, and while you had your ear pressed to his chest, you could hear the rapid beating of his heart. If you craned your head up right then and there, you would have been greeted with the sight of a flushed Detective Luke Pearce, and even with his tear-stained eyes and messy hair, he still looked as stunning as ever.

“And I, you, my Watson.”

He knew the both of you had a lot to talk about, and he knew that he needed to earn your trust back bit by bit, but he knows your longstanding love can handle more than that. He’s faced death way too many times to count on one hand, and a few days ago only did he escape his latest encounter, but with you by his side, he’s never felt more alive.
