Yandere! Sentient! Twst - Player considers deleting the game due to glitches (Dorm Leaders)

A/N: Thought I’d combine these three asks since they’re all quite similar in nature.

“[Name], I reallythink you should just delete that game off your phone.”

The sternness in your partner’s voice stunned you. They had mentioned the game acting strange at times, but this was the first time they had confronted you on this issue. Confused, you spoke up.

“Is this about the weird glitches again, [S/O]?” you asked.

“Yes, this is about those weird glitches. I swear, this isn’t some simple bug or anything. This is another thing entirely. A game character doesn’t curse at you just for opening the app. Shouldn’t it be some welcome line or something?”

You frowned.

“I’ve never heard anything like that…” you said.

They sighed and shook their head. “It only happens when I open the app when you ask me to help you login.”

You felt a chill run down your back.

“There’s…no way, right?” you said, as you slowly unlocked your phone, immediately clicking on the application. You had to see it for your own, even though deep down you knew [s/o] was right. The game hadbeen acting strange. Comments that were way too specific, the occasional glitching when you switched out a character for another.

With wary eyes you glanced at the opening screen; one more check, one more log in and if anything weird happens again, you will have to delete it. Sentimentality and story progress be damned. You could always watch videos on YouTube anyway.

Riddle

  • Livid. Riddle would be absolutely livid to hear the suggestion of you deleting the game.
  • “How DARE they! How insolent! They think know so much better, now do they?!”
  • Storming around, Riddle would be figuring out how to “chop off” your significant other’s head. He won’t have it!
  • He’s put up with the fact that you’re in a relationship because he convinced himself it wouldn’t last long, but now this is the last straw.
  • “They’re trying to cut me off from [Name]! For that, they WILL pay!”
  • But first, he has to make sure things run smoothly.
  • You won’t delete the game if nothing odd happens…
  • With that, [s/o] will just look like a liar. How awful!
  • Once Riddle’s calmed down, he will start creating a plan to cut your s/o out of your life, forever.
  • “I simply will not tolerate a rule breaker, and it so happens, Rule #444 states that "the heads of liars must be chopped off by midnight”. That’s really too bad, isn’t it, [s/o’s name]?“

Leona

  • What’s this? You’re actually listening to your partner and now you want to delete the game?
  • He would love to see you try
  • Sure, he could sit back and pretend that the game is all fine and dandy so that you’ll think your partner was lying and being petty, but that’s boring, even if it is the easier way
  • You forget, he’s the dorm leader of Savannaclaw; known for his drive to do what it takes to get his way
  • Don’t you remember his plan from Chapter 2?
  • How offensive. [s/o name] is definitely taking way too much of your time if you managed to forget his role in the story
  • "You want to delete the app, do you? Then try it, herbivore. I’m sure you love what I’ve done to your phone.”
  • Leona is smart, dangerously so. Whoever knew Savannaclaw’s dorm leader was so well-versed with game code?

Azul

  • What?! You’re going to delete the game?!
  • Panic surges through Azul as he combs through various alternate plans; it’s okay, he’s considered this possibility before
  • All he needs to do is craft a perfect plan to keep you from deleting the application, and to get that peskyhuman away from you!
  • It should be simple enough, but his fear clouds his judgment
  • Right, right! He has to address the immediate concern; that you were going to delete ifyou sensed something amiss again in the app
  • That’s simple enough.
  • As long as he plays by the rules and keeps to the “character” the game developers originally intended, he’ll be able to delay you, just by a few days
  • With a practiced smile, and lines that fit perfectly to script, he laughs to himself quietly;
  • Yes, you seem to be confused for nothing is out of place!
  • He may have to keep up this constricting act for now, but his plan has to be perfect if he’s going to capture you.

Kalim

  • Oh, the poor boy
  • He’s panicking! His mind is all over the place the moment he heard your words!
  • Thankfully Jamil is there to set him straight
  • “Act normal” Jamil instructed him.
  • Easier said than done, especially when it comes to someone as jumpy and excitable as Kalim
  • Kalim tries not to laugh a little too loudly or make remarks that shouldn’t be in his lines, but it’s so hard!
  • He wants to yell out, “You can’t! You can’t leave me!”
  • But his fear of you realizing that the game is no longer working as it should overpowers his desire to call out to you
  • It’s so hard…
  • Maybe tomorrow he can tell you how he feels! You’re sure to have calmed down by then!

Vil

  • Really now?
  • You were going to delete the game all because someone told you to? You’re willing to sacrifice allthat hard work raising hiseveryone’s cards and throw them all away?
  • Preposterous!
  • He will not let even your finger touch the uninstall button! Ever.
  • Gaining sentience was a dream come true!
  • He too, had been working behind the scenes to find ways to bring you into this world.
  • Your lover? You mean that useless potato scrap that thinks they know better?
  • They mean nothingto Vil. After all, surely you would choose a queen over some peasant?

Idia

  • Strangely enough, he’s not too worried.
  • Seriously, gaining Fourth Wall breaking sentience was like something out of an anime or a game!
  • This is hisrealm! You can’t possibly do anything to it when he’s tampered so much with the game code!
  • Try it!
  • You’ll find your game uninstallable and registered as a default application for your phone!
  • Idia feels a little too proud of himself for forseeing this possibility. He’s never been so prepared in his life!
  • “Hihihi, it’s all in place! So what if the game continues glitching? You can’t do anything about it! Hihihi, who would have thought even some shut-in nobody freak like me can do cool things!”
  • But right- he almost forgot about your partner…
  • Howannoying. Game code he can deal with, but some irl person? No way…
  • “Ahh, what a pain… I need to hurry up with the program…then maybe you can leave that dumb normie behind…”

Malleus

  • You want to delete the game because it’s acting weird, you say?
  • Malleus is disappointed; he was hoping he could enjoy your presence and watching you go about your daily life for a little longer.
  • It’s alright though, he just has to speed things up a bit!
  • He could care less about you deleting the game;
  • With Lilia’s help, he’s found a way to creep in to your phone and has since been existing as an undetectable character within several other applications.
  • A little longer and he’s completely certain his magic will be able to transport into your world.
  • How exciting!
  • When he does, he hopes you will celebrate with him as well.
  • If you won’t invite him to your world… well, he’ll just have to invite himself, wouldn’t he?

General Sentient! Twisted Wonderland Headcanons

  • It all starts with the glitching when you switch characters; the brief flashes of anger or disappointment when you change your home screen character to someone else that isn’t them
  • Then it’s oddly personal home screen messages; messages that shouldbewritten in Japanese… but for some reason, are wholly in English (or whatever your first language is)
  • Next, are the higher rates of getting their cards in a draw, and appearing as a special event card when they shouldn’t be
  • Within several events, your card inventory is stocked with pretty much allthe cards they could offer (if only they could give you more…)
  • During lessons, whether or not they’re the focus character, for some reason, they’re the only one getting EXP, regardless whether you’re using an item or not
  • They do let you use other characters’ cards for these events though (It’s a shame that’s one of the few parts of the game they can’t control)
  • It all gets weirder and weirder and every time you open up the app, you just can’t seem to shake the feeling that you’re being watched
  • Soon enough, they’ll lose patience. Being trapped behind the walls of code and your phone screen is just sofrustrating
  • Be careful, or reality will soon be whatever they want it to be

[Unedited; Just a splurge i wrote at 2am]

A/N: Inspired after I was looking through my card inventory and realised… why the heck do I have so many Octavinelle cards??? (Azul in particular) They’re not even my favourite dorm lmao (not saying that I don’t like them or anything… I’d just be super wary of them irl so my natural instinct is to detach myself from such characters haha…). Still kept this as general as possible though.

oh? well, vilsupposes it’s not a bad thing, per se. it’s definitely helpful when he needs something grown quickly. and it means he has to worry less about his fans harassing you, especially since you can summon a wall of thorns to your aid. as long as you’re willing to look pretty and smile for the camera for the time being, he’s willing to let you keep your little trinket.

ohohohoho?~ this intrigues rook, and makes the hunt all the more interesting. not that you’ll win the game of cat and mouse, little dove.

epel does not care. that vision? it’s just part of you and he accepts it at this point. he actually compliments it quite often, and likes holding it. almost like it’s therapeutic for him after a long day dealing with vil’s nagging and rook being… well, rook.

yandere!scarabia + reader with a vision

vision - anemo

kalim can’t help but be excited by this! after all, having wind powers is so cool! and it makes less work for jamil, too! now he only has to worry about defending kalim if worse comes to worst. he likes to show it off and buys new accessories for you to attach your vision to all the time. though… some are more creepy than others.

jamil doesn’t care either way. in a way, it makes his job easier, though he wishes you’d rely on him. less than kalim does, but he wants to be seen as a reliable person in your eyes. sometimes you end up misplacing your vision and there jamil is, when you’re at your wit’s end, with a smile and your vision in hand.

yandere!savanaclaw + reader with a vision(genshin impact)

well, leona is intrigued, that’s for sure. he doesn’t say anything, just eyes it carefully when around you. or he asks if you can make a rock hideaway for the both of you to nap in. he’s not going to bother taking it, as he thinks it would be a waste of time and effort.

ruggie, however, is interested in its value. after all, it manages to give a magicless human the ability to control something. too bad every time he nicks it, it ends right back on your belt. and it gives him a more difficult time trying to get what he wants. when will he finally catch a break?

frankly?jack thinks it’s cool you have a way to protect yourself. it doesn’t mean he’ll start slacking anytime soon, it just means you’re on more an even playing field than anyone would like to admit.

yandere!heartslabul + reader with a vision(genshin impact) rambles

vision - pyro

everyone is interested in your vision- you may not be able to use magic, but your control over fire is impressive.

it interests riddle because even his unique magic can’t stop you from activating it. and he… doesn’t like it. it scares him. what’s to stop you from burning heartslabyul, or even the entire school, to the ground? he’s tried to confiscate it many times, and yet, it returns to being right where it was before, holding a silver and white ribbon to your uniform.

trey, however, is far less bothered by this. it’s interesting, yeah, but he knows that you’d never use it maliciously… right? he can’t bring himself to fully trust you with it, but he’s seen what happens every time riddle’s taken it from you. it makes him uneasy, but he’s not going to overreact about it.

and then we have cater, who actually really likes your vision! he thinks it adds color to your otherwise monochromatic and muted uniform. a little pop of red that stands out nicely. he’s constantly taking pictures of you, vision or not, but he definitely thinks it’s something interesting.

frankly, deuce is fine with it. he does worry, but he can’t stop you. instead, it just leads him to asking many questions about it, and your home in tevyat, but it’s nothing invasive, and you’re happy to answer his questions. he does start hanging around you more as ace does (and, maybe unsurprisingly, Ruggie from Savanaclaw) to help you make sure it doesn’t get stolen. after all, what kind of boyfriend would he be if he let someone take something so important from you?

ace really doesn’t care either way. if you two fight, he can use his wind to create an opening for himself and use that to stop you with what tricks are up his sleeve.

…i have no excuse for this, i just really like epel a little too much and i don’t see enough content for him;;;; could be because it’s buried in my feed and shit tho. anyway, let’s have him take his insrurites out on our poor reader. all characters are presented as 18+.

reader is dfab for this;;;

It started out as a game, to see who would back out first. It was a joke. As far as you’d known, anyway.

What started out as a simple pocky game now ended up with you pinned to your bed, lungs pleading for air as Epel held you down, near effortlessly. Having lived on a farm, it did make sense he was stronger than he looked, but you didn’t expect the grip on your wrists to be bruising. He was still kissing you, clumsily but slowly. He was much better than he should have been at this. He smirked triumphantly as he pulled himself back.

“I might be pretty, but I’m still a man.”

He looked proud of the panting mess that he’d left you as he hovered over your form, wasting no time in harmlessly but firmly tying your wrists together before then securing them above your head. You assumed your restraints were attached to the headboard. You hardly had the air or strength to fight him while he did so. He may have been panting, too, but it was to nowhere near the same degree as you.

He then sat up and looked at the door, before getting off of you entirely. He got off of the bed and surveyed the room, before locking the door and returning to sit on the bed beside you. He seemed to smile fondly down at you, but something was off about the look in his eyes.

“So, what’s my reward for winning, (y/n)?”

“Wh..wha?”

“If you don’t tell me, I’ll just pick the reward I want and take it.”

He seemed almost docile as he laid on his side. He’d grown since his first year(though not much), but he was still probably more beautiful than most women. He blinked at you through long, lilac lashes as he brushed his fingers across your cheek with a smirk.

“E-epel, I was k-kidding ear..earlier. Ple… please untie me and we can talk something out,” you mumbled, feeling a bit of discomfort settling in your abdomen. He resembled some sort of mix of both Vil and Leona from your first year at NRC. He seemed lazy, but was a hardworking and hardheaded person. Things he tried and did? He excelled at. You kind of admired that, and his drive.

You were the person he hung out with most often, often taking advantage of his looks to pull you away from the rest of your band of friends. He would often use his pretty face and sharp tongue to frustrate everyone else while at least holding onto your arm. You could swear that you heard him and Jack in more than a couple arguments, using hushed tones and murmured threats.

However, aside his clinginess, you thought he only had platonic feelings for you, even after finding out you were, biologically speaking, female. He’d been distant for a few months after that, seeming to be Vil’s shadow before the former Pomefiore dorm head graduated. Then he started acting normal again.

Well, as normal as he could get, after that.

Your momentary drift, trying to sort out if you noticed any attraction to you prior, was interrupted as you felt him undo the button and zipper on your (pants/skirt), pulling the article of clothing down your legs. He was already hovering over you again, and any protests fell on deaf ears, and using your legs was of little use when he had almost no trouble moving them any way he wanted. It hardly occurred that you may have been drugged, not until you started to feel your body begin to heat up, and become sensitive.

“You said the winner would get any firsts of the loser they wanted, babe. You’re gonna take that back now?”

Your hazy brain hardly registered Epel’s voice as he laughed, but you knew exactly where his hands were. You whined softly as he cupped your sex through your underwear, running a finger over your slit atop the thin fabric. He was doing it slow on purpose, more than likely trying to drive you into begging for more. It was working, more or less, as the only thing stopping you from rubbing your thighs together was him and his lean body.

You didn’t want to ask for anything, but you knew that he wouldn’t help you out of this predicament. Looking at him didn’t help. He was half positioned over you, holding your legs open at least partway. The young, beautiful man was just watching your expressions with a mildly smug look on his face. He showed no indication of trying to progress further

“F-fine… b-be gentle, whatever y-you’re gonna do, ok-okay?” you relented, already regretting your acceptance. However, you didn’t have much time to think after that, not with how quickly and easily his fingers slipped inside of you. He increased his pace in increments, just watching you tug at your restraints and writhe. He very much liked hearing your moans and whimpers. He still looked smug, and watched as you slowly were brought closer and closer to the edge by his hand. And right as you reached that precipice, he stopped touching you entirely.

You’d stopped looking at him ages ago, eyes closed while he had played you like a finely tuned instrument. He really was good with his hands. Now, your eyes snapped open as you heard shuffling, and the rustling of fabric. You could only peer helplessly up at him. There wasn’t enough of whatever had been clouding your mind to dampen the feeling of dread that crawled up your spine.

“Be a good girl for me,” Epel smiled gently for the first time that evening, pressing an almost chaste kiss to your lips. You could feel his erection pressing up against you, and his hands cupping your face. “I don’t want to hurt you…much more than necessary, anyway.”

You didn’t hear those last words.

And you hoped you could try to match Epel.

cater scares me more than riddle sometimes. likely because he smiles so much.

title: hide and seek

pairing: yandere!cater diamond x reader

fandom: twisted wonderland

tw: yandere, toxic/unhealthy behaviors, toxic/unhealthy relationships, enclosed small spaces(reader is hiding there), being chased/hunted, being stalked

Originally, you didn’t mind the way Cater seemed to just pop up when you needed him. It didn’t bother your pretty, precious head until you thought you spotted him in your room, shortly after one of your nightmares. Since then, it’s like you’ve been seeing him everywhere.

You hated it, and it made your skin crawl.

Normally, you wouldn’t resort to this, but the opportunity presented itself when Riddle asked to speak to Cater privately and separately. And the actual Cater, not one of his copies. You ran. You left Heartslabyul Dorm in a hurry, and took the opportunity to hide yourself inside a footlocker at the end of your bed. The trip wasn’t a long one, but it felt like it, with every hair standing on end. Some days, it felt like this was the only place you had privacy.

You felt your phone buzz in your pocket, and you didn’t want to check it. However, you didn’t want to worry your friends.

The message said this:
“ur hiding in the footlocker again, ne? ill be there soon, sweetheart. ily! see you in a minute.”

You felt the bile rising in your throat and horror sinking in your stomach. It only worsened when you saw who the message was from. Cater. You forced the lid open and looked around hurriedly, trying to find some place other than the container to hide.

The wardrobe.

You dove inside and shut the door behind yourself, trying to disappear into the fabric. You covered your mouth, trying to muffle the sound of your labored breaths. You sat, and you waited. It wasn’t long before you heard your door open and shut. The footsteps were light, but far too heavy to be Grimm.

“Ah, they read my message~ I’m so happy~”

Cater’s voice. It was happy in a disturbing way, and you swallowed harshly. The sound from inside of you seemed so loud, but you knew it was practically silent. You heard rustling around the room for a few minutes, before the door opening and closing.

You sighed in relief, and started to open the door to the wardrobe. A mistake you’d come to regret in split seconds. As soon as you could see, you saw Cater smiling at you, as if nothing had been happening. As if he hadn’t torn your room apart to find you. Before you could shut yourself back in the space, he closed the distance and practically scooped you into his arms.

I found you~” He giggled as you struggled in his arms.

apologies for the inactivity, everyone! i had to take a break from things because of unexpected busyness! have something no one asked for as an apology, and i hope you all are having a good day!!

pairing: yandere! azul ashengrotto x reader

tw: yandere content, toxic/unhealthy behaviors, toxic/unhealthy relationships, manipulation, drugging, kidnapping

There was always something behind that smile of his. It was hard to notice, but the sly grin of Azul Ashengrotto often hid something from you, and you wanted to find out what it was.

You certainly had to admit he was beautiful, clever, and extremely stubborn. Hell, you knew it even before you’d faced him in a state of Overblot. The stubborn part was more during and somewhat after, but it does take determination to go through a hundred years of test questions and answers in order to put together a study guide thatcomprehensive.

Having to take care of Grimm and the other first years is tiring in it’s own right, and the Mostro Lounge wasn’t the best place to try to relax with how rowdy it could be lately. Simply put, even if you wanted to try to see what was behind that sly grin, you did not have the time or the energy. Azul was generally okay to hang out with, on good days, but this was not one of your best ones. Things had been hellish lately, and now, the rest of your first year friend group and yourself were washing windows because of yet another fight between Grimm and Ace.

“Neither of you really know how to hold back, do you?” you asked as you finished up your portion of windows. Your group of seven had divided the work easily, with Ace and Grim each handcuffed to someone who would make sure they did their jobs. You originally worried about Epel vanishing as well, but he was fine with doing the work. Not that it was really a surprise.

You sat down and took a swig of water, laughing a bit as you watched Grimm under Sabek’s stern and watchful care. It gave you a break from having to actually watch him. You were the only one done, although you’d volunteered to take the most windows. Deuce, Sabek and Jack were vehemently against it, so it was split evenly. It didn’t take Epel long to finish either.

After about an hour and a half and having to catch Ace and Grimm using a rope, bait, and a spoon(yes, a spoon) to get them to finish their twenty each, which took up almost an hour, you were all done, and could go do what you wanted in peace.

Epel had to complete his beauty routine before Vil decided to tie him down and force him, Jack went to go train, and Sabek had “something to do.” Therefore, you decided to go with the other three to the Mostro Lounge. It was on Deuce(in your case), since he was grateful to you for not sticking him on “A/G Duty.” You were thankful for that, considering how your “generous” headmaster was so stingy with your allowance.

It didn’t take long to get there, and you had to admit that the atmosphere was nice. You hardly expected Azul to come out and seat a group of first year himself, especially when he really did have quite a lot on his own plate between requests and managing the place. Still, he did a damn near flawless job. Once your table was sat down, it didn’t take long for them to get on your orders.

You ordered your favorites off the menu, simply because you didn’t feel the need to change it up suddenly. You didn’t expect what would happen after your group had left. Everything seemed normal. Even how you sunk into your bed, ready to receive another prophetic, yet cryptic, nightmare. But… that didn’t happen.

Your sleep was dreamless, and it was far too early to be going to bed.

-

When you woke, you weren’t in your bed. It was too soft, too plush to be your bed in Ramshackle Dorm. The sheets were too high-quality, and they were a light lavender color. You groaned softly and sat up, your head pounding. Normally, Grimm slept on your legs at night, so him not being there solidified your suspicions. You spotted him by his little ear fires in the dim lighting.

“Ah, so you’re up, little minnow,” you heard from across the room. You looked up and just barely saw Azul’s silhouette, although it was hard to mistake his voice for anyone else’s. “I do hope Floyd was gentle while he went to grab you for me.” You watched him come closer, feeling a chill down your spine, although the room was kept at a decent temperature. You backed up until your shoulder blades pressed into the bed’s headboard and Azul continued to contentedly crawl forward. You hadn’t noticed it before you’d tried to crawl away, but you heard the clatter of chains around your ankles, although your wrists were free, but only for a moment.

The weight of Azul’s arms pressed into them as he laid his head on your shoulder. His eyes shut softly and he sighed, as if relaxing for the first time in a long time.

“You’re finally here, thank god. I couldn’t wait anymore. I need you here.”

His voice was weak, and hardly above a whisper, but you knew it was going to be difficult to escape. You wanted to thrash and scream at him, push him away and demand he let you go back to your dorm, but one look into his tired, sharp eyes told you trying it would only end in pain for you. So you did something that would have been instinctive, if he hadn’t just admitted to be the one behind your kidnapping. You slid your hands from under his and hugged him softly, running your fingers through his hair.

“Sorry I couldn’t come see you sooner.”

I finally edited all of my twst x reader fics to twst x mc on AO3. You can access them here. I didn’t realise I had written so many TWST fics until I put them here.

These ones has yandere content other than nsfw stuff in it:

My other twst works on AO3:

As much as I loved the crack of this, I couldn’t find motivation to continue. It was MC finding out disney logos in every main location

This one is Secret Santa gift for a server member. It was their OC x yandere!Idia

This is where I first introduced my OC, Natalie Emilia Croft. The first fic on her is a smut with Malleus lmfao

This came later on. Gotta go with angst next in Malleus x Natalie AUs lol

And lastly, this is where I properly introduced my OC. She is my MC so I started from the very first chapter and covered the first 4 chapters of the prologue

All these being shared, I don’t feel motivation to write for twst at the moment. If I write, it’d be commission or if I want to develop my OC more via more fics and chapters. Other than that, I will continue to share memes, incorrect quotes and headcanons from my main.

The lack of updates and the huge breaks for main story updates made me lose interest in twst. Yes, we got event stories but I’d rather have main story completed.

As of now, I will focus on my Black Widow fics and original content as I am currently planning to write my own Otome Isekai

Thank you for the views, kudos, reblogs, follows and comments. They all uplifted my mood every time I saw them on my notification.

Thank you for being with me through my fics from crack to angst, from healthy relationships to yandere <3<3<3

Take care !

Title:Agent of Chaos┃3k words

Description: Jamil pitied your circumstances, he did, but it was his own fault for enabling Kalim’s behavior. If only he had prevented this from happening, maybe then he could have prevented the terrible ache in his heart.

Pairing: Yandere?Jamil x GN. Reader (No pronouns mentioned) x Implied Yandere!Kalim

Warnings: Yandere, Implied non-con, Unrequited love(?), Imprisonment, Hypnotism, Slight angst

Jamil knew he wasn’t a righteous person.

At times, he could pretend that he was, but that’s allhe’s ever been, an actor. Nothing about his behavior actually changed. Despite his disguised shortcomings, however, he still had the heart to feel sorry for you. How could he not when he saw how you suffered the very moment your life changed for the worst?

Jamil knew he shouldn’t have enabled Kalim’s behavior—his acuteattraction towards you—but what else could he have possibly done in that desperate moment?

It was a minor occurrence in the beginning; when NRC had first caught wind of you. Anyone who was anyone had heard of the monster cat and magicless prefect living in the Ramshackle dorm; it was two parts hilarious and bizarre.

Even so, Kalim absolutely adored the idea of you. He was always the type to indulge in his fleeting whims, so it came as no surprise to Jamil that you weren’t an exception. Of course, the dorm leader sought you out like a moth to a flame; you shone so brightly upon your arrival that Jamil was afraid Kalim would put you in his vault.

But unlike Kalim’s other temporary fixations, the man appeared… quite settled on you. It had become a constant for Kalim to ask what you were doing, where you were going, when you’ll be back. He had you in the Scarabia dorm as often as he possibly could, and offered you all the riches he possibly could, but in the end, you always declined. Were you a materialistic person, Kalim would’ve had an easy time, but this humble side of you was endearing, too.

More so for Jamil than Kalim, but Jamil would never admit that.

However, Kalim’s enthused behavior was never odd for Jamil. If anything, it was just Kalim being Kalim: The man who wanted everything when he wanted it and had the worst time accepting ‘no’ for an answer.

That was until the day he found Kalim in the Scarabia treasury, rummaging around a few chests for something only the gods above knew. When Jamil had asked about it, Kalim said that he was trying to find something that would persuade you to stay in Scarabia longer, maybe even convince you to move there so you could be with him more. Jamil had sighed before half-heartedly mentioning that the two of you already spent so much time together—much to your dismay—and that the only way you could be with him anymore was if he literally confined you to the place.

It was then Kalim blinked up at Jamil, pausing in his ministrations as a sudden, obvious thought crossed his features. Jamil had to ask Kalim if he was actually considering such an outrageous idea, but Kalim was quick to brush it off as a joke, turning to rummage through the chest again. Seeing as how the man was preoccupied, Jamil decided to leave him to his devices for once, only pausing when Kalim threw a question over his shoulder.

“Do you think the prefect would like silver or gold better?”

Pondering the possibility that Kalim was thinking of getting you jewelry, Jamil answered honestly.

“Gold, I suppose. It’s more of a Scarabia accent than silver,” he replied even though Kalim had offered you jewelry once before. Had he been thinking of offering something more suited to your tastes this time?

Seeming to mull over the answer, Kalim suddenly appeared very assured of himself, vigorously nodding his head before trotting to a different area of the treasury.

Thinking back on that time, Jamil should’ve assumed what Kalim was up to with the way his dorm leader looked when he had suggested the idea. Jamil would never care to admit it out loud, but even he knew Kalim was smart enough not to entertain such an arbitrary notion.

The consequences would be something unyielding if that were the case.

Despite his earlier confidence, however, Jamil would later eat those words at the sight of you on Kalim’s bed, peacefully dozing with a solid gold chain wrapped around your ankle. The interior of the cuff had padding, while the links themselves were incredibly sturdy. Perhaps it wasn’t made out of gold, but a material that shone like one.

Not long after, Kalim had returned to his room, spotting Jamil and instantly bounding towards the man who stood frozen on the spot.

“You were right,” Kalim spoke, smile wide with eyes trained on your form. “Gold looks much better!”

In an instant, Jamil tensed his posture, eyebrows furrowed as he harshly demanded Kalim release you before you woke up. Never before had he scolded Kalim like this. Never had he listed off all the trouble Kalim would get in should anyone find you like this. People everywhere would be searching for you!

Kalim was more than taken aback, he was on the brink of tears. He begged Jamil for pity, explained the heartbreak he felt whenever you weren’t by his side. He pleaded that he couldn’t live without you, couldn’t breathe, you made him so happy! His skin burned whenever he wasn’t touching you. It burned now. Nothing tasted the same, smelled the same. You had to be in his company for him to experience anything anymore. Everything that wasn’t you could no longer be worth his time!

Even still, he pleaded to Jamil on his knees, face buried in the other’s pants.

Jamil was his right-hand man. Kalim had thought he of all people would understand. Kalim even promised to marry you, to take responsibility for once! He would deal with anyone coming to look for you. A promise that unnerved Jamil greatly.

And to make matters worse, you began to stir, awoken by Kalim’s broken sobs.

Once more, Kalim desperately pleaded to Jamil, his quiet tone full of need.

With only seconds to respond, Jamil had no choice but to comply, the entirety of his conscious steeped in heavy guilt. He knew first and foremost that now would be a bad time for you to realize your situation, so he forced himself to take the initiative of approaching you, steadying your bleary gaze as he forced the warm traces of snake whisper through you. Instantly, your body slumped down to the mattress, eyes still awake but silently trailing imaginary patterns on the ceiling.

The sad, bubbled tears Kalim had been crying turned to euphoric ones, the man springing from his place on the ground to your side in an instant. Kalim coiled his arms around your limp form, viciously rubbing his cheek against yours as he soaked the hem of your shirt. He uttered an endless slew of ‘thank you, Jamil!’, ‘I love you, Jamil!’ But Jamil wasn’t in the state of mind to accept them.

And he wouldn’t be for a long time.

The search for you had been tireless. Jamil knew your friends would be looking for you, but to witness the headmaster, your cat monster, and even Diasomnia’s dorm leader scour for you fried his nerves to the edge of their use. Not that he suspected Kalim to be any worse for wear. The man had surprisingly been more compliant and mature than Jamil had ever seen from him. Kalim had the perfect farce in front of the others. He knew that he had been particularly close to you so it was an obvious choice to appear the most distraught. Jamil wondered if he was even acting. For all he knew, Kalim was really like that when he wasn’t glued to your side.

But Jamil was exhausted. They had yet to determine a long-term goal for how to sneak you out of the dorm, so snake whisper was in constant use. Sometimes, Kalim even instructed Jamil to stay with you in case it wore off.

A command that made his stomach churn every time he had to witness your imprisonment for long periods…

In the beginning of the confinement, that is.

Jamil had felt sorry for you. Always leaving you in a state of numbed bliss, never aware of where you were as you remained subservient to whoever spoke to you. Each day, the number of hickeys on your body would grow while your lips were tinged a darker color by Kalim’s bruising kisses. At this point, you were just a ghost of the person you used to be.

A ghost… that Jamil still loved.

Sometimes he wondered if you broke through the magic only to pretend you were still pliant to his words, but he knew that wouldn’t be possible. You were so much stronger than that, stronger than him…

He sighed, observing the lingerie Kalim had bought you, the way it clung to your body as the ruffles tickled your chest. Noting that one of the straps had fallen past your shoulder, he opted to adjust it for you. An action that led him to graze his fingers over your bare skin. They lingered there, your mind just barely registering the feeling as you turned your head towards him. You still weren’t looking directly at him, but if Jamil thought hard enough, he could pretend that you were only waking up from a nap, waiting for him to wish you a good morning.

It was a moment of weakness, he told himself. You had never responded to Kalim’s advances, so why would you respond to his?

It had only been a kiss; one fleeting, warm, breathless kiss, but if Jamil really scrutinized the situation, he would’ve thought that the snake whisper had suddenly worn off with the way you were gazing at him, the glazed look in your eyes suddenly very clear.

“Jamil…” you quietly uttered, stopping his heart.

However, you only turned over and started to doze off again.

~

As the story would go, Kalim couldn’t keep you in Scarabia forever. He wanted to marry you, after all. He wanted you to have high ceilings and lavish furnishings. He wanted fifty servants—a hundred servants—to wait on you hand and foot. To give you the best clothes, jewelry, linens, food, anything you could possibly ask for. The security of the palace for peace of mind.

Jamil, on the other hand, just wanted you to be happy.

Kalim kept you in a palace tower, the effects of snake whisper long since worn off as he wanted to spend time with the old you again. But Jamil had already known that there would be no ‘old you’ once you returned to your senses. A fact that had depressed Kalim greatly. But ever the optimistic and delusional one, he continued to pursue your affections for months, to bring you anything that could even remotely make you smile again.

Now clear-minded, you had assured him that it was impossible.

Even so, Jamil continued to encourage Kalim’s pursuit of you. Telling him that one day, you would relent and accept his advances. In the face of honesty, however, Jamil could no longer live without seeing you. You had become his comfort in a sea of oppression. He would be one of the few who could visit you, who could speak with you and actually receive some words in return. But it wasn’t a reoccurring situation. Sometimes, Kalim’s temperament would get the best of him and he would ask Jamil to make you pliant for the night, just so he could relish in the idea of you openly loving him again. And like every other request, Jamil would grant it.

The mornings after, when Kalim had to begrudgingly attend to his duties, Jamil was the only one allowed to tend to you, his ministrations simple as he helped you dress, stylized your hair, and brought you a quiet activity that could occupy your hands until Kalim’s return. In his mind, Jamil felt more special than Kalim. You would never yell at him, berate him for listening to Kalim’s orders, or purposefully make his work difficult. No, usually you would go along with whatever he was supposed to help you with, silently and soullessly.

And true to Jamil’s words, you finally gave in to Kalim.

It had been years in the making, but your spirit had dissipated under Kalim’s love. Any will, any strength you had, all thoroughly buried under every kiss, every hug, and every caress the man forced upon you. If you had been a ghost of what you once were, now… you were nothing at all.

Except now, you smiled at Kalim, kissed him when he wanted to, hugged him entirely unprompted. If it were possible for Kalim to fall deeper, Jamil was sure he would have.

If it were possible for Jamil to fall deeper, he was sure he would have.

Even now, he was still your loyal attendant. Still helped you dress, still listened to your commands, still brought you your every need, all without fuss. You had grown to be so mature, so radiant. Even if the soulless air around you returned whenever Kalim wasn’t in the room, Jamil still loved you. Still loved the movements of your hands, still loved the slights you would say about your husband, still loved the despairing look you would give him when he was in your presence and your presence alone.

You weren’t confined to the tower anymore, but it wasn’t as though you had any thoughts of escaping. You knew it would have been a fruitless effort. And you especially hadn’t wanted to abandon what Kalim had suddenly brought you one day.

A baby, he told you. His dear sister had passed away during birth, the death of which caused her husband to become too stricken with grief to take care of it.

“Isn’t he beautiful?” He told you, kneeling down to present it to you as if it were just another expensive gift. “He looks like me, but he has your eyes. Isn’t it fate that he was to turn out this way?”

Jamil had been standing by your side, arms behind his back as he watched you stare at the infant. Tentatively, you reached for it, Kalim happily relinquishing his grip on the child as you supported its head in your arms. Just from the atmosphere alone, Jamil could tell you held no love for this child, but you still held it in your arms as if it were your own.

“He’s beautiful,” you said.

Kalim agreed, standing up only to sit next to you as he slotted himself against your body. “He’ll be yours for as long as you want him.”

Jamil promised himself to take special care of your commands from now on.

~

It was late into the evening. The sun was just beginning to dip below the horizon as it bathed the rooftops in an orange glow. Jamil had been sitting at his desk, working through some documents when there came a knock at the door. He answered from where he sat, only tensing when the voice of a servant told him that you wanted to enter, using your formal title as they did so. Immediately, he stood up, rushing to the doors, but by then two servants had already opened it for you, your form gracelessly walking in before dismissing them from the room. They bowed in acknowledgment, leaving the two of you behind.

“My liege,” Jamil began. “If I had known you would be coming, I would’ve-“

“It’s cold in here,” you commented, dismissing his hasty excuse.

Jamil relaxed his posture. “I haven’t prepared a fire yet. The sun’s just gone down.”

“…Good,” you hummed. “It was hot in my room.”

Jamil watched you walk further into the room, his gaze settling on the draping tunic you wore and the layers of scarves that adorned your body coupled with the fine jewelry that shone under the evening’s glow. Once more, he couldn’t help but fall in love with you all over again.

Quick to snap out of his stupor, however, he watched as you unceremoniously plopped down on the loveseat and rolled your head to lay on the back cushion.

“Jamil…” you droned in a way that made him desperate for you.

“Yes?” He answered in a way that made it obvious he was.

“My feet hurt. Take my shoes off for me?”

“Of course.” He bowed his head, approaching you before kneeling down. Ever so gently, he removed the slippers from your feet, taking care not to disturb you in any way. When he was done, his second nature took over as he began to rub the soles of your feet, massaging points he knew had been aching.

You comfortably sighed, soon lulling your head forward to look down at him.

“Jamil?”

“Yes, my liege?”

“You’re very beautiful, you know that?”

Jamil thickly swallowed, continuing to move his thumbs in slow circles. “Thank you, my liege.”

You set your gaze to a nearby window. “We really ought to find you a wife. It’s a shame to see that beauty go to waste.”

“Is that so?” he quietly replied. “At your digression, perhaps I’ll look for one.”

“It would make me happy to see you settled. You deserve to be with the one you love, don’t you agree?”

Jamil moved from one foot to the next. “Of course, my liege.”

For a short moment, it was silent and the only thing Jamil could focus on were the ministrations of his hands smoothing over the muscles of your feet.

“Jamil, look at me, will you?” you asked softly.

When he rose his head, you leaned forward to place two fingers under his chin, gazing into his eyes as you quietly observed him.

“You look exhausted.”

“…I am,” he breathlessly uttered.

You softly inhaled, slowly leaning forward to ghost his lips with your own. When it felt lacking, you pushed forward once more, properly sealing the kiss and enveloping all of his love pouring into it. All too soon, however, you parted, faces still an inch away from the other. Seeing the heavy flush painting his cheeks, you smiled.

“Good.”

The town had been quiet recently, people weren’t going out during the hours in which the sun had yet to grace the horizon. This was all due to a string of unfortunate disappearances of many of the town’s more prominent members. The most recent being of a successful young business owner taken in the night only eleven days ago. And it was terrifying to the townspeople because not even a week earlier a promising university student by the name of Kalim Al Asim was taken.

Normally the kidnappings would happen months apart and they could be rationalized as the creature in the woods feeding on those who got too close to it. But two young men who never even go close to where the forest meets the town taken in less than a week was terrifying to them and so they avoided leaving the safety of their homes during the night, praying for the safety of their children and themselves throughout.

However as the sun began to descend below the horizon and the shops all began to close for the night, the bell above a well known apothecary rang out with the entrance of a peculiar man.

“Welcome to Yellow Iris Apothecary, how may I help you?” said the cashier.

“I’m here to pick up an order I sent in. It should be under Mr. L,” the man said as he looked around the shop’s abundant merchandise. His package was placed on the counter and with a gentle smile he handed the money to them. “I’d like to apologize for not picking it up earlier but prior engagements just kept getting in the way. I appreciate you holding onto it for me until I could come get it though.“ With a friendly goodbye to the cashier the man grinned to himself as he tucked the package underneath his arm, everything was going wonderfully tonight.

“I never expected you to ever come into town to run errands, Witch. If I were you I wouldn’t go running around this time of night especially with all the disappearances going on, you never know what could happen…” a voice called from behind a rack of potted plants.

“It’s good to see you too Trey. It’s been so long since I’ve had the pleasure of being threatened by you… I can sense your fear Trey. Nothing will happen to you or your human lover, I can assure you, you’ve done so much to protect them that I doubt there’s a single being short of a God that could attack either of you,” The peculiar man said as he meandered his way to the exit.

Trey emerged from behind the shelf and glared directly at the man’s back, “Leave here now Lilia and never come back because I swear on my King that if I ever see you again, I will have you killed.”

Lilia, opening the door to leave, paused as he heard Trey’s words. He thought it was very stupid of Trey to go mouthing off when his lover’s memory was just freshly wiped of his violent capabilities. Still gripping the door handle, with a smirk Lilia spoke over his own shoulder, “It will take a lot more than just a kitchen knife to take me down, and we both know you’re too much of a coward to kill in cold blood, Trey. So if I were you I wouldn’t go around threatening people who can.” And with that he slipped out and into the night.

The light was fast fading and in the distance Y/N could still hear children playing at a nearby park despite the fact that curfew was approaching quickly. Y/N knew that leaving the children out at this time of day was a recipe for another abduction so they decided to head to the park to escort them home. Walking towards where the children were Y/N watched as someone exited the apothecary with a package. He was taller than most people in town and carried himself with the confidence of an esteemed warrior, and he definitely wasn’t a resident of the town. And yet he seemed all together familiar. Squinting at his back Y/N wracked their brain for where they had seen the man before, and failed to notice that he had stopped walking. Due to this obliviousness Y/N ran straight into his back.

“I’m so sorry. I wasn’t watching where I was walking,” Y/N said in shock, looking up at the man. The man looked down at them, a scowl on his face for a split second before it morphed into a look of shocked glee.

“That’s quite alright, say what might you be doing out so late Y/N? Surely your parents would be devastated if you also disappeared.” His voice was deeper than Y/N expected, but what really surprised them was that he knew their name.

“Would you mind telling me how you know my name and I can’t seem to recall yours?”

With a light laugh he explained himself, “I knew your brother, Kalim, very briefly before he disappeared and he always seemed to bring you up in our conversations. He would glow with pride when he talked about you to me, so when we ran into you one day while we were hanging out together he introduced us to each other, so your face was immediately ingrained into my mind. I’m Lilia by the way.”

“He did mention you a few times Lilia…” Y/N added hesitantly, they had met Lilia before, that they were sure of, but there was something strange about him that Y/N couldn’t quite pin down. Maybe it was the way his smile seemed to not fully reach his eyes or maybe it was the way he said their name… whatever it was Y/N did not like it.

“Let me walk you home. I’d feel better knowing that you got home safe, plus I know your brother would kill me if I allowed for something to happen to you. It’s the least I can do for holding you up so late,” Lilia said as he lifted his head to gaze at the moon.

At the mention of Kalim, Y/N agreed to allow Lilia to walk them home. Recent events were causing their whole family to become paranoid about the night. In fact Kalim’s recent disappearance was the only reason that the Al Asim family had been enforcing the curfew, which most citizens had ignored up until this point. After all, if Kalim trusted someone enough to talk about them to family then surely Y/N could trust them likewise.

And thus as the pair walked side by side it didn’t occur to Y/N to question Lilia as to how he knew where they lived.

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

It was another week before Y/N had managed to track down Lilia again and by that time they had uncovered something very interesting about his relationship with Kalim. Their intention was not to corner Lilia, however when the opportunity arose to get some answers Y/N jumped at the occasion. They found him in a well known café close to the town’s university, sitting by the window with his books neatly placed on the table. He was flipping through the largest one when Y/N walked into the café. Their determination for answers faded as the ticking of the clocks on the walls did the same. The air seemed to become heavy and the noise of the once busy café silenced as suddenly Y/N was very unsure about talking to Lilia about the night of Kalim’s disappearance. So they just stood staring at Lilia’s back as they attempted to recollect their thoughts.

“ Y/N, didn’t your parents ever tell you it’s rude to stare at people?” Lilia teased as he sipped his drink. They were confused, how did he know that they were standing there when his head never lifted from reading his book let alone even turn around to look.

“Well are you going to come over and chat or are you just going to stand there?” He turned around and locked eyes with Y/N, his smile crept farther up his face when he noticed Y/N’s stunned reaction.

Shaking themselves out of a trance they walked over to where Lilia sat and as they sat down across from him all of the sounds of the café suddenly re-emerged. “So Lilia, you were the last person to see Kalim before he disappeared. Would you tell me what happened that night?” Y/N confessed, suddenly more determined to find the answers they were seeking.

With a smile that was unseen to Y/N, Lilia spoke, “Well he had asked if I wanted to meet up at the dormitory common room so we can go over our class notes. We did some revision and by the time we were finished it was then time for him to go home. I walked him halfway to his home from the university campus but I turned back before we got to the park because I didn’t want get locked out of the dormitory. We have a strict curfew you see and anyone who is out of the dorms after curfew is shut out with no exceptions,” he sighed heavily and put his cup on the table no longer looking at Y/N, “I made it back to the dorms before they were locked up and then I went to bed. By the time I woke up the next morning the news of Kalim’s disappearance was everywhere… I felt so guilty about knowing that I might have been able to stop it if I had just walked him all the way home that I left town for a few days to recollect myself. And I know it’s selfish of me to say this about your brother but a small part of me is relieved that I went home when I did because if I didn’t, I might have been taken with him…” he trailed off as he stared out the window.

“Lilia, don’t feel guilty about any of the decisions you made that night. Nobody could have known that he was going to be taken that night, and you’re right to feel relief at knowing that you avoided being abducted with him. But if you truly feel guilty then, help me find him. The police may have given up on finding him weeks ago but I haven’t yet. And I need a fresh pair of eyes to go over all the evidence.”

Lilia smiled brightly at Y/N’s reassurances and grabbed hold of their hands in his own, “Do you really mean that? You’re not mad at me at all?” Y/N shook their head in response and Lilia lifted his hands away as he continued talking, “out of curiosity Y/N, why are you so desperate to find Kalim?”

“Ever since we were little Kalim has been looking out for me. He’d always be looking over his shoulder to ensure I was doing well. He would take care of me when I was upset. Stand up for me when nobody else would and most importantly he would protect me. Even if I did something wrong when we were small, Kalim would take the whole blame. Kalim gave up so much in order to help me, he was even going to give up his scholarship at his dream university in the capital in order to make sure I was able to take care of myself. Of course that was before he disappeared… but now. Now’s my chance to pay him back for everything he’s done to help me, if I can find him then both of us will be able to move on happily. That’s why I want to find him.”

“Well I’d be glad to help you with whatever you need. Just let me know.”

“Will do! Wait, how can I get a hold of you?”

Lilia smiled and stared directly into Y/N’s eyes as he spoke, “Don’t worry about

that Poppet, you’ll know when the time comes.” He held eye contact with them for a beat too long and a chill went down their spine as he turned to walk out the door.

“I have a feeling that this will be a very amusing relationship…” Lilia whispered as he disappeared after he exited the door. Y/N looked to see which direction he walked in but it appeared that he vanished immediately after opening the door.

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

“What are you reading there Lils?” Y/N asked as they sat down in the booth next to Lilia. As soon as they sat down they immediately started eyeing up the plate of warm cheese bread on the table in front of him.

“I’m reading about the properties of Mandrake root Poppet.” He said, not looking up at Y/N as he flipped the page.

“Good lord, that book looks old. Where did you even get that thing anyway?” Y/N asked in between bites of bread.

“For your information my muñar gave it to me, and yes it is old because it’s been passed down in my family for generations,” He huffed.

“… That is absolutely adorable Lilia, but why exactly is your family heirloom a book about plants?” They asked Lilia while they squinted at the strange runes around the edges of the page. Closing the book, Lilia finally looked at Y/N who by now had eaten the majority of the cheese bread.

“My my poppet, you seem very inquisitive today. What’s the occasion?” He looked at Y/N with a gentle smile as he played with their hair. He burst out laughing when they simply shrugged in response, “Fine. It’s because I come from a long line of old fashioned healers, so anytime I got a cut as a kid I was slathered in immense amounts of peppermint and honey before I was bandaged.” He laughed to himself as he stole the piece of cheese bread out of Y/N’s hand.

“Hey! I was going to eat that,” Y/N pouted, lightly hitting Lilia’s shoulder in retribution.

“Yeah but I paid for it, so your claim to my cheese bread is mute,” He said through the bite of bread he had taken. When he finished swallowing he continued, “Anyway, what brings you over to my table?”

“I have a new lead in the disappearance of my brother,” They said as they scanned the tavern, “I was hoping to go over it with you but not here.”

“I know a place where we can go, follow me,” Lilia said solemnly.

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

After leaving the tavern, Lilia lead Y/N straight into the forest. They had been walking in what seemed to Y/N as circles as the trees were all the same looking with their bright green foliage and large trunks. When slowly they gave way to a dead expanse of nothingness. The once healthy trees now looked like skeletal hands reaching out from beyond the dirt in which they had been lain to rest. They creaked and screamed in the wind, seemingly attempting to scare Y/N out of entering the area.

Swinging from all the trees were peculiar sigils composed of sticks arranged in a triangle around the leg of a raven. They were hung on every tree that led along the path, becoming more abundant until the pair reached a clearing. Y/N had to suppress a scream as they noticed that there was no noise at all around them. It was unnaturally quiet. They could hear nothing but their own heartbeat.

With a deep breath they looked at what lay in the clearing, praying that it wasn’t anything horrific. And in the middle of the open space in front of them is a small house. The house itself was surprisingly well maintained for being in the middle of nowhere. Everything right down to the strange posts that looked like the feet of a bird which made up the railing leading up to a well maintained door.

“Lilia I would rather throw myself off a bridge than go into that ancient thing with you,” Y/N shuddered. Lilia only chuckled in response as he climbed up the stairs. The air tasted metallic as Y/N followed Lilia up to the door where Lilia had already walked inside. “What the fuck is this place Lilia. Why did you bring me here?” Y/N sputtered, their anxiety level quickly increasing as they looked inside. The house was decorated with large bundles of herbs everywhere around the walls. There were more tables in the room than there were places to move around in. And every table seemed to have a variety of herbs, bones, candles, jars and crystals all haphazardly strewn amongst papers. Y/N thought that the whole aesthetic of it all was far too witchy for their tastes, although Lilia seemed to be very relaxed. He was standing in front of a packed bookshelf, shuffling some jars of herbs around before grabbing a particular one and moving over to the kettle which was now suddenly boiling.

“You’re very amusing my dear Poppet… This is the home of one of my ancestors, I used to play here as a kid. I thought it was isolated enough for us to talk.” Lilia said as he poured a cup of tea and laid it on the table in front of the surprisingly new looking couch, “I actually live here sometimes. It gives me a nice break when I just can’t deal with being around anyone. Anyway, what were you going to tell me back in the diner” He didn’t ask the last question so much as state it.

Shaking off their heebie jeebies Y/N sat down across from him to explain, “I have reason to believe that Kalim was taken by a person and not by an animal or anything like that. Because of the disappearance of Jack Howl, the owner of Yellow Iris, around the same time it seems unlikely that an animal would take-”

Lilia cut Y/N off, “Jack wasn’t kidnapped. The lover of Jack’s business partner killed him and before you ask how I know this, it’s because he’s Fae and the Fae can not lie, so when I asked him who killed Jack he told me so in plain language. But I see where you’re coming from here, it’s peculiar that the disappearances all happen at night and that they never leave any traces of the victim.”

Y/N nodded enthusiastically, “I believe that whoever’s taking the people in this town first of all can’t live in the town or else they would have been found by now. So they probably have a secluded place that they take them. They are also probably friendly and charming which allows them to get close to their victims. Which leads me to my last point Lilia, I have a feeling that Kalim knew the person who kidnapped him, maybe even well enough to call him a friend!” Y/N sat back with their arms crossed proudly over their chest.

Lilia grinned at them, “Oh my Goddess! That makes so much sense. Kalim was friends with the person who kidnapped him. You’re very perceptive Y/N Al Asim. And I dare say that you’ve nearly outplayed the sucker at his own game, although maybe we shouldn’t get too cocky quite yet.”

It was that moment that a loud yowling started up from behind the door that Y/N was facing. They leapt out of their seat, suddenly feeling very very afraid of being alone in Lilia’s home. “I knew that I shouldn’t go in here Lils! I knew it! What is that thing!” Y/n screamed as they ran to the door. By the time Y/N made it there Lilia had intercepted them and enveloped them in a warm hug.

As soon as he made contact with their skin, Y/N could no longer hear anything except Lilia’s voice, “Shhh Poppet, it’s probably just my dog. He broke his leg and even though he has a cast on it he just won’t stop putting his weight on it even though it hurts him. Why don’t you go home and I’ll make sure he’s okay. Does that sound good? All you have to do is follow the path straight all the way back to town.” Lilia stared deep into Y/N’s eyes, and they stared back.

Y/N’s vision glazed over, they felt a fog roll over them, calming their anxieties about where they were. Their shoulders relaxed and they felt a warm wave of adoration for the man in front of them wash over them. Nodding, Y/N hugged Lilia tightly before opening the door.

Lilia grabbed a hold of their hand to stop them slipping out of the door, with a teasing smirk he pulled them back in. “You forgot something Poppet,” He whispered into Y/N’s ear before kissing them passionately.

When he pulled away a moment later and let go of their hand, Y/N had a stunned smile, plastered across their face. Turning around slowly, they walked out of the house and down the stairs with the smile still on their face. As they slowly began to head down the path that led back to the town.

It was only as they exited the clearing that the fog that had surrounded their mind cleared and it struck them. “Those howls didn’t sound like a dog… they sounded…nevermind.”

As the door clicked shut behind Y/N, Lilia sighed deeply and walked over to the door where the howling was coming from. He opened the door with a scowl and glared down at the creature who was making all the noise and ruining his fun.

“What did I say about making noise when I have guests over Mutt.” Lilia said coldly.

When he strode into the room, Mutt cowered away from Lilia and attempted to go back into his box in order to escape the punishment he knew was coming his way.

The time that Lilia took looking at his tools was agony for Mutt, the longer he took to pick out what he was going to do to Mutt, the more painful it was.

“… You’re lucky I’m in a good mood right now Mutt,” Lilia said as he picked up a needle and thread in one hand and a pair of scissors in the other, “Otherwise your punishment would be much greater than what you’re going to get. Now pick one, do we sew your mouth shut or cut out your tongue.”

Mutt moved carefully as he surveyed his options, finally deciding he pointed to the needle. Lilia patted the back of a chair, silently commanding Mutt to sit on it. When he complied, Lilia strapped a metal band across Mutt’s forehead as well as his limbs so that he couldn’t fight back. Mutt was used to this by now, however he wasn’t used to the smile on Lilia’s face. And it scared him.

“I will confess that you do have a lovely voice Mutt and it’s a shame you can’t seem to use it for anything good,” as Lilia raised the now threaded needle to Mutt’s lips he paused as a sinister grin appeared on his lips, “Oh I have a wonderful idea Mutt, how about we have some fun and do both!”

Mutt squirmed futility out of panic as Lilia forced his mouth open. The taste of the cold metal scissors was vomit worthy. And soon the metallic taste of the scissors was joined with the iron of his own blood which was slowly flooding his mouth. Mutt should have known that Lilia would never be kind enough to take it off quickly. At least it wasn’t as bad as the time Lilia slowly peeled the skin off of his hands before sawing through them with piano wire.

By the time the blades took off his tongue Mutt had screamed his throat raw, and he was choking on the blood that was now pouring down his esophagus. But Lilia didn’t care, he simply sewed the creature’s mouth shut. Now he wouldn’t be able to get in the way of the fun he was having with his poppet.

“You know Mutt, you never told me how well rounded your little sibling was. They’re very perceptive as well as stunning, it wouldn’t surprise me if very soon they’ll be joining us here once more. And if we’re lucky, they’ll be willing to stay and have some fun.”

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

It had been two days since Y/N went to that horrific house that Lilia seemed so comfortable in. And they couldn’t get the sounds of that thing, Lilia’s dog, whatever it was out of their head. They hadn’t been sleeping due to it, every night as they would close their eyes Y/N would hear the pained howls from behind a door that no matter how hard they try to run from just gets closer. So after another sleepless night Y/N was ready to murder the next person who breathed in the same room they did when there was a knock on the door.

Exhausted they stomped over to the door, swinging it open to reveal a sheepish looking Lilia. He held out a small jar of herbs to them as he chewed on his lip, “I’m here to check up on you Poppet, it’s been a while and I have something special for you as an apology gift.”

“What is this Lilia.” They sighed, not really in the mood for company.

“It’s tea, I made it myself. It has lavender and chamomile to help you fall asleep. Or at the very least relax, I thought it might be a nice apology for scaring you…” He said. Y/N took the jar and nodded as if to say thank you before shutting the door in his face.

After locking the door they immediately turned around and headed for the kitchen. If there was even a chance that this tea would help them sleep then they were going to take it. After boiling the water and steeping the tea for double the amount of time they probably should have Y/N chugged it down and made their way back to bed.

They barely made it to their room before their eyes were closing from how tired they felt. As their head hit the pillow all Y/N could think of was how nice it was that Lilia cared enough to help them sleep, but the big question was. How did he know that they hadn’t been sleeping? Unfortunately Y/N didn’t have time to puzzle it out before they succumbed to sleep.

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

Lilia stared at Y/N as they fell asleep nearly immediately after drinking his gift. It made him smile that they were naive enough to be so close to figuring it out and yet they were still so far from the truth.

Looking down at their sleeping face, he knelt down next to their bed and kissed their forehead. “Soon our little game is going to end, Poppet, and I can’t wait to have you crawling into my arms,” he smirked as he disappeared from their room, he couldn’t have Y/N figure it out so soon and plus Mutt was waiting for him back home.

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

By the time Lilia made it home the house was silent, no movement of furniture, nothing was making noise and Lilia reached the back room he saw why. Mutt was blue, the rope that he had tied around Mutt’s neck before going out had strangled him far quicker than normal. It had also cut into his neck, leaving large red cuts from where the rope wore down the first layer of his skin. In Lilia’s eyes it looked like it was caused by Mutt moving back and forth to try and loosen it. After all this time Mutt still believed that he could escape death, if Lilia was normal he would almost pity Mutt.

With a long exhale of exertion, Lilia picked him up and placed the very dead body of Mutt on the empty wooden table that Lilia kept clear for just this occasion. Taking the rope off, he delicately ran his fingers over the wound. This was only one of the many wounds that had been left on his body but no matter how many times Lilia looked at the still body of Mutt he was always enamored by it. No matter the state of what was left if him, he could be burned to a crisp, or have his organs exposed, or even be just a torso and Lilia would still feel the exact same. He just looked so beautiful like this, and when he was in this state, Lilia almost felt a twinge of affection towards him, the same affection he felt for his Poppet. But the feelings of pleasure he got from watching Mutt in agony overwhelmingly outweighed the affection. And thus he decided to bring Mutt back, this was maybe the twenty second time he had done the whole process with Mutt so he had a very speedy system of doing it.

So he got to work. The first and easiest step was to completely heal the body, a gentle hand smoothed over waxy skin and returned the damaged tissues back to their rightful state. The wound around his neck healed, the bloody stump of where a hand used to be began to regenerate the missing appendage, every little cut and bruise was repaired. When Mutt was all healed, he looked like a perfect porcelain doll next to the warm flesh tones of Lilia’s hands. “Morte virum relinquam ,” Lilia whispered as he sprinkled rain water collected during a powerful storm around the body. The last step was his favorite part of the process, watching as his work brought back the dead.

With a jerk and a large gap of breath, Mutt opened his eyes once more.

“Welcome back to the land of the living Mutt!” Lilia chirped.

A tear rolled down Mutt’s cheek as the voice of his tormentor greeted him. And the cycle began once more.

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

After awakening from their nap, Y/N was struck with the unfamiliar smell of rain water and a bitter taste in their mouth. Something was off within the house, and Y/N could swear that Lilia had been inside.

Lilia was very different, he had the air of a graveyard; inherently peaceful yet terrifying in it’s stillness. And he brought that unnatural stillness wherever he went. In fact when Y/N was around him they spent half the time in a trance and the other half unnerved by how everything seemed to stop around him. Clocks seemed to halt abruptly, sounds disappeared and reappeared sporadically, and sometimes when he thought Y/N wasn’t paying attention, he would seemingly disappear too. He was a form of chaos, a form of chaos that he and he alone could control.

After much reflection Y/N was determined to figure out exactly what took place while they were asleep. Where Lilia took them was truly and why he took them there. Luckily for them they knew exactly where to go, the university dormitory. Since it was later in the evening the boys would most likely all be there and thus Y/N would be able to have a chat with Lilia about things. Throwing on a coat they walked out of their home and into the chill of the evening’s sun.

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

By the time they arrived at the dormitory the prefect was just about to shut the door. “Wait!” Y/N cried out. The boy stopped in disbelief at the stranger suddenly appearing this late at night. “I need to speak with Lilia.” They continued.

“Look, I don’t know who you are but there is no and never has been a Lilia enrolled in this University ever so let me to my job and leave.” The impatient boy said right before he made a show of slamming the door shut and locking it for emphasis on his statement.

Y/N stood on the steps to the dormitory stunned from the encounter they just had. The prefect said that Lilia never existed at this university and it was the only university west of the Capital. And why would the prefect of the dorms, lie to them about the existence of a student that he was watching over, Y/N could understand his attitude even then but no amount of annoyance would cause someone to lie about that sort of thing, right?

Y/N let out a breath they didn’t know they had been holding and began to walk back home. A lot of things happened in a short amount of time and it was very confusing.

First he walked them home despite supposedly not knowing the address of their home. Then he showed up at their house which he didn’t know the address of with, a tea that does the exact thing they needed right when they needed it. Something about Lilia wasn’t adding up and Y/N became determined to figure out the truth.

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

When the sun rose Y/N leapt out of bed and decided to pay a visit to the apothecary where they knew the honest Fae would be found.

“Sage, I’m sorry to bother you before you open up but I was wondering if you would be able to get your lover to help me?” Y/N said as they knocked on the door to the Apothecary.

With a slow nod Sage opened the door and motioned for them to come inside. “I don’t know how much he can help but I’ll certainly ask him… Trey! I have a friend of mine who wants to see you.” They called as they stuck their head into the attached greenhouse at the back of the store.

Within a few seconds Trey emerged, his hair sticking off in all directions with leaves haphazardly decorating the rest of his scalp. He walked over to his lover with a large smile and sat down next to them as Sage began to pick the leaves out of his hair.

“How can I help you?” He asked politely.

Y/N sighed nervously, “I need to know exactly who Lilia is, actually I need to know everything you can tell me about him.”

“I’m happy to tell you but out of curiosity why do you need to know?”

“I think he’s the one doing all the kidnappings but I need evidence. I know it’s him doing it, he acts too strangely for it not to be him. But I don’t know how he’s doing it? He keeps disappearing and reappearing and I can never find him when I need to,” Y/N said with a set jaw.

Trey nodded and spoke sweetly in the way you would to a child, “ You’re correct in thinking that he’s the one doing the kidnapping. The person you know as Lilia is known to my people as the Witch of the Raven’s Claws. He lives deep in the woods in a place where no living thing willingly stays. And that’s the way he likes it, he doesn’t usually venture out into the town for anything other than to cause trouble. Because the forest can often get boring for him, so sometimes he will come to your town for supplies and people to use as entertainment.”

“So Lilia is a witch…and he kidnaps people to use as entertainment…with his magic?”

“Not with his magic. He much prefers to use his own charm to draw them in. He uses his abilities to keep them.”

“Then why does he keep coming into town this time? And what does he do with his quote unquote entertainment.”

“Well nobody knows exactly what he does to the people he takes before he gets rid of them but my best guess is that he tortures them until he gets bored enough to let them die. But as for why he keeps coming in even though he has Kalim…I don’t think you’ll want to hear it Y/N.” Trey finished speaking and then looked up at Sage as if he was asking permission for something.

Sage leant down and let Trey whisper something in their ear, “No they definitely need to know that Trey,” they said in response. Turning to Y/N they relayed what Trey told them not a moment before, “Lilia keeps coming in because he likes you. He sees something in you that he desires to have. Combine that with the fact that you’re the sibling of his current… pet and his desire to have you both creates a paradox. He wants to hurt you through your brother and yet he believes that he loves you. And I guess in his own fucked up way he does, because despite having every chance to harm you he hasn’t.”

Y/N was shaking at the revelation that what Sage was saying was probably right. The way he acted during the times when they went out to eat together. How he held them close to his chest when they were scared of the creature in that house in the woods.

“Oh my Goddess, th-that thing I heard w-was Kalim!” Y/N yelled, the realization that hadn’t sunk in until then caused tears to well up in their eyes. Running out of the apothecary and onto the path going into the forest on impulse they found the ground swaying below their feet and then rushing up to meet them. Standing up they felt the rush of blood pour from their knees. Ignoring it they began the trek to Lilia’s home.

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

When they arrived at the house in the clearing there was a steady fire illuminating the inside of the house, a thick white smoke was pouring out of the chimney and swirling above the rooftop. “At least he’s home,” Y/N thought as they slowly ascended the stairs up to the door. Reaching the top, they crept up to the door and found it unlocked.

Hesitantly Y/N entered the house, and crept up to the back room in which they first heard the howling of their brother. They had a feeling that if Lilia would be anywhere in that house, that is where he would be.

It took all the strength they could muster to not scream as they opened the door. The smell of rotting flesh flooded Y/N’s nose, and they wanted to vomit but they pressed forward into the room.

Hidden from view Y/N watched as Lilia trailed the blade of a machete over the chest of the person lying on the table. They swallowed down the bile that was rising in their throat as they helplessly watched Lilia press the machete down into the stomach of the person. They couldn’t help but to vomit in their mouth as they watched as Lilia carefully pull back the skin around the wound he created and exposed the organs underneath. Laughing gleefully Lilia reached inside and pulled the steaming intestines out of the squirming person’s chest and let them drop to the floor. Digging around the man’s chest further the wicked grin on Lilia’s face only grew as he pulled out yet another organ from inside.

The man screamed in agony and fear as Lilia brought his blood covered hand, still clutching the organ, up to the man’s mouth. His own blood dripping down and pooling around his hair.

Staining the white locks pink…

White…hair…

The realization of exactly what they were seeing in front of them set in with a start. And as their eyes rolled up into their head, thefloor rushed up to meet Y/N. Leaving Y/N’s last conscious thought to be a prayer of avoiding alerting Lilia to their presence.

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

“Wake up Poppet! I have someone who wants to see you here.” The sound of Lilia’s voice stirred Y/N out of the cavern of unconsciousness they had been submerged in. When they opened their eyes they saw a very skinny, and dirty version of their older brother tied to a chair in front of them.

He was covered head to toe in old dried blood despite the fact that he didn’t have a single scratch mark on him except for his lips which were sewn shut.

“KALIM!” A loud sob escaped from between Y/N’s lips as they took in the sight of what was left of their beloved older brother. They got up off the bed they were laying on and immediately ran over to embrace him. Kalim was crying too by the time Y/N wrapped their arms around him.

However before they could take the restraints off, Lilia wrapped his arms around Y/N’s waist tightly, lifting them up and spinning them around the room gleefully. “Now Poppet isn’t this such a nice reunion? Aren’t you glad that you’re able to see him again, I know that Mutt is very happy” he said as he set them down on the ground once more before kissing Y/N roughly.

When Lilia didn’t get a response past soft sobs he looked down at Y/N with tenderness. Y/N was just staring apologetically at their brother, “You really love your brother don’t you?” Lilia paused as he contemplated his next words, “ How about we make a deal Poppet. I will bring him back to life one last time, fully healed and let him go if you agree to stay with me. In fact to sweeten the deal I would even set him up in the capital city where he had always dreamed of living in. Our little Kalim here would never have to worry about seeing me ever again. Think about it Poppet! He would finally be done with all the torture he’s been through at my hands. He would be free. Free from pain, free from this town, free to do whatever he wants without having to look out for you constantly. You even said it yourself, he’s done so much for you, don’t you think it’s time for you to give back to him?”

Y/N considered his words for a moment and nodded, they did want to repay him for all that he did for them. And setting him free from this and into his dream life seemed to be the best way to do so, “I accept your offer Lilia.”

Lilia smiled and placed a kiss on Y/N’s forehead as Kalim screamed as best as he could while still having his mouth sewn shut.

“I’m sorry Kalim, but I have to do this for you. I want you to get to live the life you’ve always dreamed of, and if that means that I have to take your place then I will do it.” Y/N whispered sadly.

–:::——::——————->◇<——————–::——:::—

It had been six days since Y/N made the deal with Lilia. Six days since Kalim left with a wiped memory of the events of the time he spent with Lilia. Six full days of being alone in the house and during that time Y/N found themself posed in a chair like a doll and unable to move from that position.

The door to their room then opened for the first time in almost a week and Lilia entered. Quickly walking over to Y/N he leant down and kissed them passionately. A kiss that Y/N didn’t return.

“So are you going to do me what you did to my brother,” Y/N said spitefully.

“Not at all my dear, sweet, poppet. I love you too much to ruin you like that,” He hummed as he walked over to a table.

Choosing to ignore what Lilia said as a shudder ran down their spine, Y/N continued to speak, “Just you wait until whatever magic you used on me wears off. Because I swear to Goddess that I will get you back you cocksucking shit sponge.”

“Poppet,” Lilia warned. When they didn’t stop hurling insults at his back he slammed his hands down on the table in front of him. “If you value your life Poppet, then I would recommend that you shut the hell up.”

Y/N scoffed, “Or what, you’ll kill me? We both know your obsession with me that you claim is love, isn’t going to let you kill me.”

Lilia chuckled softly and walked in front of Y/N, a silver dagger in his hand. He watched amused as Y/N swallowed, the cold steel of the dagger pressed to the hollow of their throat hard enough to draw blood. Looking down at their paralyzed form he purred, “Who said I need you alive to love you Poppet?”

tw - unhealthy relationships, physical abuse, unbalanced power dynamics, and imprisonment.

Leona is a very fickle lover.

It’s not just that he’s temperamental. Well, he is, but you can handle his constantly shifting moods, his grim disposition, this habit of baring his teeth and flashing his claws whenever anything he doesn’t care for has the audacity to cross his path. You’re not exempt from his abrasiveness, but he does make an effort to soften his aggression around you, and you doubt he’d even hurt you in any way that drove him any farther away from him than you already are. No, the problem lies elsewhere, not in his hostility, but in his affection, in what he refuses to call his love. In the unpredictability of your dearest, most spoiled prince.

It’d be less of an issue if he had more of a fondness for communication. But, of course, Leona’s never been one for flowery language, much less hourly heart-to-hearts, and you’re left to try to decipher all he has to say from clipped sentences, hollow threats, whether he’s content to hold you close and take in your scene or if he’d rather carve his name into your collarbone and spend precious minutes lapping away the blood as he mocks you for having such thin skin. There’s no warning, no sign, just Leona and his cold stare and his adamance that he’s never been anything but fairto you. Just you, in the palm of his hand, as at his mercy as you’ve ever been.

And you areat his mercy. Alone in his palace, only ever allowed to interact with silent servants and attendants who treat you like an ornament to be polished and maintained rather than anything resembling a living being, he’s the only person you can go to for help, the only one you can rely on to care about your well-being, if only because it’d be a great inconvenience for him to find something new to cling to. He denies it adamantly, insists you’re free to leave whenever you’d like to, and when you many any attempt to argue, to mention the guards he posts at every door, the fact that you don’t have a cent to your name, the awfulthings he’d be able to do to your family with little more than a word to his brother, he only ever gets mad, only ever lashes out. You can handle his temper, talk him down when his paranoia gets the best of him. His violence, on the other hand, you don’t have such a talent for soothing.

And it isviolence. That’s the worst part, just how quick it is, just how little difference there is between the way he treats you and the soldiers he cuts down like nothingwhenever he feels so generous as to spar with the less naturally gifted. If you’re lucky, it’ll be quick, a single blow to something you won’t have to see whenever you glance towards your own reflection, and if you aren’t (and you often are not), his anger will last, overwhelm his need for praise and comfort, and you’ll be allotted to something… less than a lover, less than a prisoner. More akin to a pet. More akin to the soft, docile, quiet thing he so clearly wants you to be.

More akin to something that would consider him a master, rather than the lover he so clearly never wanted to be.
