Trivia:

  • The type to cling to one person to get through life
  • His twin does not have magic
  • Loves his long hair and despises the thought of cutting it
  • While not as socially anxious like the stigma of his dorm implies, he is very paranoid about the apocalypse

—————————————————

Backstory:

Phoebus has always been the anxious type. Not that he dislikes being around people, he just thinks the worse will happen. Murphy’s Law, if something can go wrong it will go wrong. It was Phoebus’ twin, Kell, that made sure to drag Phoebus out and about. They were thick as thieves, these half-fae kids.

Phoebus was the only one to get magic though. It was a tough time for them. Kell felt resentment. Phoebus just wanted to spend time with his brother. It turned into Kell always trying to avoid Phoebus, and Phoebus trailing after Kell.

When Phoebus went to Night Raven, he was alone and terrified. He tried to find people to cling to. Upperclassmen, predominantly, but a few peers as well. But jow, he’s the upperclassmen and he does not know how to deal with that!

—————————————————

LEMME ADOPT THIS BOI!! HIS DESIGN AND PERSONALITY ARE SO GOOD!!! I love the conflict of his brother not being a mage. Phoebus gives off timid vibes, yet is the stronger one out of the siblings? What an interesting scenario!

Backstory:

Jonah Craggins hails from the Scalding Sands, specifically from his Uncle Moe’s mechanics workshopand is based of Joanna the Goanna fromThe Rescuers: Down Under.

Growing up, Jonah had cogs and sprockets to play with instead of dolls and teddies, which turned him into quite a proficient little tinker.

Whether it was vehicles, coffee machines, circuit boards, Jonah watched his Uncle like a hawk and developed a proficiency for mending broken gadgets. He was often caked in oilandgrease from all the things he got up to.

One day, he and his Uncle were driving back from an afternoon of mountain bird-watching when suddenly their car’s brakes cut off. The vehicle swervedandcrashed through the bollard on the side of a cliff. If it wasn’t for Jonah’s Unique Magic – Spanner in the Workspossessing the car and shutting it off, they likely would have driven off the mountainside. Jonah has had a chronic fear of heights ever since.

o~o~o

Back on the ground, Jonah busies himself with more than just tinkering and repairs. Being an avid fan of old-fashioned Magical Wheels, he’s been working for the last few years on building a discontinued model from scratch. He hopes to be able to incorporate some modern mechanisms into it to make it go as fast as possible.

What’s more, his attention span in lessons leaves much to be desired. Jonah knows he’ll always have a job at his Uncle Moe’s workshop so his commitment to academicsisbelow par. Much to the chagrin of the teachers, Jonah hides unfinished projects all around school. When their backs are turned, he reaches under the floorboards, or behind a shelf, and cracks on with whatever he’s currently working on.

He’s been held back a few years as a result. (He also hates rock cakes from breaking his tooth on one). Mrs Downey is a hawk assistant he rescued and gave a prostheticwing.

Some Finn and Jade fluff :)

Aquamarine

Silence reigned over Mostro Lounge. It was well past closing time, and the once bustling restaurant was now empty and lifeless.

The light shining from the glass bordering the area cast a ghostly aquamarine hue over the polished wooden tables and floor, and the leather of the couches.

The neon pink, purple and blue lights danced beautifully alongside the aquatic colours, decorating the Lounge and giving it an almost ethereal feeling.

Finn Clearcove sat on one of the couches, hat and scarf placed neatly next to him, and watched the grand array of fish swimming about just beyond the glass.

It was so nice to do this after work. Sit down, rleax, and enjoy the peace. It brought about a feeling of nostalgia, brinnging him back to old times.

Surrounded by water, the current rippling his hair, the comfort of the pressure of the depths as he moved along the ocean floor. Hiding in the seaweed, chasing crabs, helping his father hunt and prep meat to sell to the Ashengrottos… a simple, but pleasant life.

The quiet was something to savour, as things were going to get loud for his birthday tomorrow.

“Still awake, I see?” Finn jolted and snapped out of his trance, spinning around to be met with the sight of Jade Leech smiling at him, sharp teeth barely visible through his lips.

“J-Jade- My apologies I-” “No need to apologise~” Jade purred. “I am simply here to let you know that I will be locking up soon. It would be rather unfortunate if you were trapped in here.”

“Ah…” Finn flushed. “Um, thank you. Sorry, I… I get distracted by the scenery.” Jade’s smile widened just a fraction. “I know. I’ve seen you here many many times. You look so… at peace.”

“Well… yes, you could say that.” Finn giggled nervously. “It reminds me of home.” “Ah yes.” Jade hummed. “You lived in rhe neighbourhood. Your father was the butcher. It’s a shame, you were always so shy. We could never find you in the kelp forest.” “That was kinda the plan…” Finn mumbled.

He was playing with his hands and staring at his lap with flushed cheeks. How cute.

A moment of silence reigned, until the moray eel had an idea.

“Come.” Jade extended a hand. “I would like to show you something.” One year ago, Finn would have fled for his damn life ar such an offer, but now… now he knew Jade a little better. They were not simply peers. They were… friends. He knew Jade had no ill intentions. Towards him at least.

Finn took his hand and allowed himself to be led closer to the glass. “Look.” Jade pointed, and Finn had to squint and strain his already sore eyes.

He followed the direction of Jade’s finger. Past the fish, past the kelp, past the rocks and the shrimp and the coral.

There.

There was a cave. And deep within the blackness of that cave was a light. An aquamarine and green light.

Finn was not unfamiliar with bioluminescence. Hell, he was bioluminescent due to a type of algae he ate. But the shape looked odd…

It took a minute or two to click.

“Are those… mushrooms?” Jade nodded. “Indeed. After many months of hard work, I managed to cultivate a species of mushroom that cam grow underwater. Of course, neither Azul nor Floyd would let me display them, so I hid them in that cave for me to look at.” He looked at Finn. “You are the only person to know about this.”

Both a statement and a warning. Finn knew better than to tattle anyways. “Of course.” He had no idea what else to say. It was a little awkward. Luckily, Jade was there to save the day.

“Oh. I must say.” He said, changing the subject. “I must thank you for getting that little piece of information. It helped us find the student who’s been cheating the system Azul worked oh so hard to make. You’re getting close to earning Employee Of The Month.”

“O-Oh. That.” Not quite what he was expecting, but Finn laughed anyway. “Thank you. For such a proud student, he sure caved in easy to the forgettable bartender.” His lips curled up just a fraction, revealing his own pointed teeth, and as such his cute mask slipped. “It was quite… funny.”

“Mm, I can imagine.” Jade moved Finn’s hair out of eyes and stared into those gorgeous aquamarine irises. Irises that glinted with slightly sadistic glee.

As adorable as Finn was, one did not get into Octavinelle without the dorm traits, and the little cookie cutter shark was as sly as they come. His birthday was sure to bring more customers.

“Ah, yes, before I forget.” Jade handed Finn a small woden box. “This is for your birthday tomorrow. Do not open it until you wake up. As much as I’d love for you to receive it during your party, this is something more… private.” He did not elaborate further.

Finn nodded slowly. “Alright then.” He held onto the box carefully and checked his watch. “Oh my! I need to get to bed! I’m sorry, goodnight, Jade!”

Watching he small mer scramble for the exit and handle the box like glass, Jade a smile. A soft, genuine smile.

Finn’s eyes slowly fluttered open as sunlight filtering in through the window forced him awake. He met out a little groan and covered his face with his pillow.

It was his birthday.

He was not against birthdays, but at NRC, they unfortunately meant interacting with a person who was going to interview him and then shove a pie in his face.

Not a very pleasant experience at all.

Just as the dread started to settle in, he remembered the box.

Finn sat up and gently took it into his hands. There was no telling what would be inside. This was Jade Leech, after all.

He delicately hooked his fingers under the lid and lifted it off, scared to even scuff it.

Finn looked into the box and let out a cry of surprise as he picked up what was inside.

A necklace.

A nautilis shell necklace to be precise.

It was the most beautiful shell Finn had ever seen.

Blues and golds of various shades decorated it, and it wasn’t painted on. This seashell was real. Colourful and fully intact, it was a true rarity.

After taking a moment to process it’s beauty, Finn’s face exploded into a rose red as he realised what had just happened.

He had received a courting gift from Jade Leech.

A/N: So yeah I hc that merfolk give jewellery/shells as gifts to show they wish to date.

Also Finn is gonna self-destruct

Official Bio Of Finn Clearcove

Finally, this poor cookie is getting an actual bio. Meet Finn Clearcove, the shy but sly Octavinelle second year attending NRC. I have not given him a unique magic yet because that takes brain cells I am currently lacking in (though it may have something to do with disappearing/blending in ig???), he keeps itnsecret anyways haha. Right so his bio is below. Enjoy!

Bio:

Name:Finn Clearcove

Age:17

Birthday:30 December

Species:Cookie cutter shark mer

Height:156cm

Dominant Hand: He’s ambidextrous :)

Family:His father, his younger sister, and older brother

Homeland:The Coral Sea (though he lives a little further away from the town/city due to his father owning a small piece of farmland.)

Other Names: Little cookie/cookie cutter-chan, courtesy of Floyd.

Personality:Finn is introverted. Not to the extent of Idia, but he is uncomfortable with crowds and conversation. However, he is sneaky, so when it’s needed, he can hide his discomfort. He’s the same size as Epel, is quiet, and not too noticeable, so often people don’t really think about what they’re telling the waiter/bartender, so his sadistic side really comes out when they realise they’ve spilled their guts and the look to see sharp teeth gleaming in a smile. He can easily manipulate conversations, and never reveals what he truly thinks to others, unless it’s for someone he likes or for good reason.

Description:Finn is small and frail. Well, he looksfrail but appearances can be deceiving. He’s thin and pale. His eyes are aquamarine in colour. His hair is seaweed green, short and fluffy, with turquoise bangs and streaks. His teeth are sharp, but more jagged and uneven the the tweels. In his mer form, his skin is seafoam green, but his fins, scales, and tail are seaweed green with haphazard turquoise patches. It helps him blend in. Due to a type of shrimp he eats food, he’s bioluminescent as well.

School:

Dorm:Octavinelle

Class:C

Year/Grade:Second year/sophomore

Club:Well, he didn’t see the point in clubs. He also knew there would be too many people, and also people didn’t like. But then he saw Gargoyle Research Society on the listand his exact reaction was: “wtf is that???” And that alone made him join because few things make him react that way.

Best subjects: Ancient curses and art

Preferences:

Hobbies:Reading, playing saxophone (he found one as a kid and now he’s obsessed), cooking, and most of all- painting

Pet Peeves: People who are vain and full of themselves (Vil + like 90% of NRC), people who see themselves above others (Riddle + Vil + like 90% of NRC) and being looked down on for his size.

Favourite Food: Chocolate mousse. He likes it so much it’s concerning.

Least Favourite Food: Chicken. He doesn’t know why, he just hates it.

Talent:Musical instruments

……………………………………………………………………….

A/N: Here’s Finn! Shark boi ehe. Also is just me, or does the Coral Sea seem to have a very strong music curriculum?

A Treasure Found

About: A oneshot with Kalim and Yuulis for the wonderful @aulilyu!!

Link to their comic here!

The breeze in Scarabia was pleasantly cool at night, and the view from the lounge’s balcony proved serene enough to calm even the most troubled of souls.

The desert could make one feel smaller than they were from its vastness, compared to the warm community that otherwise lived within these walls; that was where having a friend came in handy, they supposed.

Yuulis rested their elbows on the railing of the balcony that opened up to the sky. Despite the earlier task of searching through the treasure room, they did enjoy how quiet it was here - it was the most serene moment they’ve enjoyed for a while.

“Thanks for the help, Yuulis.” Kalim smiled from beside them. “I didn’t expect you to be so good at finding things! If it was just me alone, I think I would’ve been there for days.”

“Well, I’m part of the NRC staff after all. Though why does that feel like I’m being associated with some type of thief?"

“Mmm, even if you were one, you’d be the nicest thief I’ve met.”

…He’s met thieves?

“I felt more like a hired bandit, maybe.”

Kalim laughed, a refreshing sound that Yuulis couldn’t fully trust. “Well, it’s not like I’ve had that much of an experience with either. I could tell you had a good eye though.”

Yuulis looked thoughtfully at the pair of clips in Kalim’s hand, shaped like triangles with soft curves and a delicate surface of diamonds. “I might, but I still can’t tell what those are supposed to be.”

Seeing as they were able to help find the hair clips, Kalim assumed they meant that in a decorative sense. “They’re cat ears! See?”

Kalim holds up the clips to his own head to demonstrate, earning an unconvinced look from Yuulis. “Um… Not really.”

He huffed lightly, gesturing for them to get closer. Kalim reached towards Yuulis to nimbly clip the accessories onto their head, adopting a self-satisfied grin. “There! That’s how it’s supposed to look.”

“…Kalim. If they’re on my head, I still can’t see them.”

“Oh. Right.” His smile barely wavers before he thinks of a new idea. “I’ll just take a picture then!”

…Well, if it was only just the two of them here, Yuulis supposed that’d be fine. If need be, they could simply delete it from his gallery later on.

The moment quieted as Kalim found his phone, trying to get a good angle as he walked around Yuulis. They considered for a moment that aside from his otter-like demeanor, Kalim was quick on his feet. They were sure that if he wanted, he could mask the sound of his footsteps to sneak about.

Perhaps in another life, he would’ve made a good thief. Not that Yuulis minded the current Kalim that much.

“There, see? It looks cute on you!”

A little smile made its way onto their lips. The sight of cat ears was… “I guess it does. But aren’t you worried I’ll just walk off with these without returning them?”

“Nope, these are for you, after all.” There was the brilliant smile he has when hosting guests.

For a split second, Yuulis found themself at a loss for words - he’s kidding, right? There were at least four dozen diamonds on these things!

“I… Are you sure?”

“Of course! I’ve always intended to give you something. When I saw them the other day I got reminded of you… so here we are! Sorry for needing your help searching for them though, I didn’t expect someone to move things around!”

“It’s no problem…” Yuulis touched the clips on his hair, looking at Kalim curiously. “These are definitely expensive though, even for a special gift. Just what kind of life do you have back home?”

It wasn’t confrontational - Yuulis knew to phrase their words in a softer way these days, especially with students. The staff members were still fair game though.

“Mmm, we have quite the lively household. I have a big family, after all. But because I’m supposed to inherit everything, I guess I was raised to be hospitable?” Kalim smiled, though the energy in the air had quieted to a more serious tone.

“Did you like it, growing up?”

It suddenly felt as if Yuulis could see through him - oddly enough, Kalim wasn’t too offset by that. He chuckled, more hollow than usual. Like he was remembering something. “Everyone treated me well, it was only sometimes during parties when this group of adults… I guess they were just interested in me.” He shrugged. “In the business sense. Whispering wasn’t unusual, but the way they glance at you - it can be kind of unsettling. Though I’m sure they don’t mean any harm.”

They waited for him to continue, glancing at the faraway look in his eyes.

“…Once, they offered me a new servant. One to replace Jamil.” Kalim’s gaze darkened. “They said this one would be ‘better trained’ and ‘more fitting’. I said no, of course. How could I ever think of replacing him?

“I never told Jamil though. I thought I was protecting his feelings, I guess.“ He laughed, though it felt empty. "But looking at things now, I should’ve done more.”

“Why tell me something you never told your best friend?” Yuulis couldn’t help but ask.

Kalim smiled, looking up towards the sky, the stars winking like diamonds.

For a moment, it felt safe to say it.

“I guess you feel like a person I can confide in?” The air grew lighthearted again. Kalim looked down at his hands on the railing. “You don’t feel related to the picture back home. Maybe that’s why I ended up telling you.”

Out of the corner of his eye, Kalim spotted a familiar sight under the balcony. Its golden tassel peeked out from the darkness, making him shift his arms to rest differently on the handrails. He was suddenly reminded of the sky above them, even more vast than the desert they were looking over.

“Hey Yuulis, have you ever tried chasing the stars?”

Before they could offer him a response, Kalim raised himself to peer over the balcony, teetered, and leapt. Not a moment later while Yuulis almost had a heart attack and rushed forwards, Kalim’s figure floated up, cross-legged and sitting on the magic carpet they recognised from the treasure room.

I swear to–

Kalim burst into laughter at the offended look on their face. “Pfft– Wait, I’m sorry! Yuulis,” The carpet flew around to interrupt them from leaving. “Yuulis, I’m sorry.” When they crossed their arms to stare at him expectantly, he offered them his hand, outstretched.

“I know I’m not the most responsible person, but do you trust me to bring us back in one piece?“

Yuulis regarded him for a moment, before sighing and accepting his hand to pull themself up. "You better not kill us both, Kalim.”

“Haha, that’s the spirit!” Despite their reluctance from earlier, Yuulis had to admit that feeling the wind on their face was addicting. “When it’s dark out, we can go as fast as we want without the Sun stopping us!”

“I didn’t think the sunlight would stop you,” they commented.

“Well, if you want to do this again in the day, I wouldn’t mind.” Kalim guided the carpet higher. “I wasn’t that great of a host today with entertaining my friend, so you can come back anytime for a re-do!”

His eyes brightened as they reached an altitude just right for gliding through the sky. “It’s just that at night, I guess I like how I can see everything at my own pace? There’s no glare to mar my sight.”

Hmm… “In that case, you’d probably hate having my bangs.”

Kalim blinked, raising a hand to brush the strands near his forehead. A hearty chuckle escaped him. “I guess so! Though you seem to see things quite clearly regardless.”

Yuulis supposed they did. Though it wasn’t always to their own credit; some stories had to be heard from a person, not read from a book. Like one of a boy with garnet eyes, and the blessings of an oasis in his smile.

Grim arched his back as he let out a groan, trying to cure his boredom by walking around the library – it was hardly a fitting place to relieve boredom especially when paper full of words, words, and more words were more often a trigger for falling asleep than keeping someone entertained. NRC’s library barely contained any entertaining books. Most of them were research literature and textbooks used for studying. It was expected from a prestigious school like Night Raven.

But, if there was one thing the library was good for, it was the hushed gossip that could easily be overheard by others because of the dead silent atmosphere it gave. So when Grim caught Yuulis’ name being mentioned behind a nearby shelf, he had little choice but to follow his growing curiosity – curiosity killing the cat meant nothing to him, he wasn’t a cat after all, or so he liked to claim.

Two voices – seemingly older than both Yuulis and he. One opened their mouth, a gruff voice coming out, “That kid, the Ramshackle prefect, they’re too full of themselves. they think they’re so great, but in reality, all they do is halve the headmaster’s paperwork. If I were Crewel or Trein, I’d kick them out of the class for sure.”

Grim froze, his hands forming fists as his nails dug into his skin – anger bubbling inside the pits of his stomach as he continued to listen in to their conversation. The other person replied, “right? Where have you ever heard of a case like that? They’re bound to tarnish our school’s prestige at this rate.”

It took Grim everything in him to stop himself from barging into the middle of their conversation and throwing a few punches here and there. But rationality pulled him back to reality when he realized that by doing that, he’d just be making things worse for the both of them – and he’s already had enough of the badmouthing from the students, what more when he found out that faculty also thought the same as them?

He felt terrible now. It was like the whole world was against them – being a special case meant that you were an outcast, and being an outcast meant that people will talk about you – good and bad. He decided to go out for fresh air to keep his mind out of the unpleasant chatter he subjected himself to. Ignorance was truly bliss in this case.

He found himself wandering into the botanical garden after recalling that Yuulis would be there after Professor Crewel gave them the task of looking after the plants that needed special attention during the summer in preparation for the next semester’s classes. Sure enough, he found them there in a lab coat covered in dirt and leaves as they dug up a fiery red plant and placed it in a cart.

Grim walked over casually – his ears perking up upon seeing the unusual plant. Though he’s had enough of curiosity for a while, especially when looking at Yuulis was enough for the conversation he eavesdropped on to remain fresh in his memory. He decided to give them a nudge with his foot, “Minioooon, let’s get some snacks or something from Heartslabyul or Octavinelle – Riddle was called to the faculty today so it would be easier to sneak in than usual!”

Yuulis glanced back at him, letting out a small sigh while they dusted the dirt off their gloves, “if you’re so bored, maybe you would be interested in helping me out instead – err, wait, I take that back. You can go on ahead without me. I’m busy doing tasks.”

“Haah!? What’s that supposed to mean!?” Grim stomped his foot against the ground, pouting at the prefect before declaring, “the Great Grim can take care of those stupid plants no problemo!”

“Wait– Grim, no!” Before Yuulis could stop Grim from touching the plant’s bud bare-handed, he leapt towards it and grabbed it in a manner that could be potentially disastrous for everyone. Once Grim wrapped his hand around the red bud, he let out a shriek that could shatter glass in a matter of seconds – Yuulis could only shake their head as they covered their ears.

“What the hell was that…!? Why was it so hot!?” Grim cried out, clutching his hand close to himself before Yuulis bent down to wrap a cold cloth over his burn.

Igni Fatuus or simply a flaming flower. Its bud is extremely hot and should be handled with care, though once it blooms the heat transfers to the petals which set it aflame – earning it the title of the flaming flower. It requires experienced hands to grow it in a controlled climate or else everything might burn up if left to the wrong hands.”

“Why is there such a dangerous plant here in the botanical garden!?”

“The fire on its petals dies down when the plant itself suffocates and there are multiple remedies that include this plant as one of the key ingredients – so people often keep them inside a box until it dies and dries out. Its own fire kills itself. Ironic, isn’t it?”

Grim scurried about outside of Ramshackle, the light and haste footsteps managed to reach those who were inside the building thanks to the thin walls of the rickety building. The ghosts who nested in the dorm peeked through the window curiously, eyes darting to wherever little Grim went next with his hands full.

“Curious, curious – what is that little cat up to?”

“Didn’t both of you just finish up slaving away in the garden?”

Yuulis could only sigh as they closed the book in their hand. Their muscles are somewhat sore after a day of doing odd jobs around the school – “I’ll clean up after his mess tomorrow, I’m beat.” The two ghosts circled Yuulis, their gazes demanding answers until the third ghost came in and snickered to himself.

“I don’t think you’ll have to worry about anything, prefect.” Nosy as the ghosts were, the two immediately floated over towards the new arrival. Muttering to each other like housewives who got their hands on the juiciest gossip in town – Yuulis can’t help but overhear fragments of their conversation as they went on. “That little racoon… job as boss…”

It was hardly proper to eavesdrop on someone’s conversation, even if they were ghosts – Yuulis could only raise an inquisitive eyebrow, putting aside the suspicious feeling clawing on the pit of their stomach. “Suspicious…” they could only mutter as they glanced at the window where they watched Grim from.

Night fell and it was hardly the proper time for someone to barge into someone’s room whilst dragging them outside – but ’outsiders’ were a little strange in Night Raven College. Grim had little to no regard for whether or not Yuulis was preparing to go to bed early and dragged them out to the back of Ramshackle’s building. Where there laid a picnic blanket and a grill, something you’d see on special gatherings and occasions.

Vegetables lay on the small table beside the grill. It felt a bit strange to Yuulis especially when they think about how much Grim likes tuna – but there wasn’t a single piece of fish, much less meat. Grim grabbed a knife, his bandaged fingers wrapping themselves around the handle as he started chopping the vegetables one by one albeit a bit clumsily. “Sit down, sit down! The chef isn’t going to be done any time soon, you’ll get sore just standing like that.”

“Oh! Ah, y-yes. You’re right.” Grim snapped them out of their trance, unable to believe that Grim was indeed chopping vegetables without making a complete mess. His actions were messy yet endearing – as if watching a child do something for the very first time.

“When~ all the veggies are fried~ add water and then simmer~ over medium heat.” Grim hummed rhythmically as if he came up with an easy nursery rhyme to remember the steps to cooking a delicious meal – Yuulis could only muster a grin as they relished in the way Grim’s tail waved back and forth along with the beat. “Once the squash is cooked thoroughly~ add coconut milk~ and the rest of the veggies into the mix.”

“… Stir this in… and done!” Grim put a portion of his cooking into a plate – his measly attempt of making a fancy plating making it all the more adorable when it spills. He presented the dish in front of Yuulis who was waiting eagerly. “Behold! The great magician Grim’s summer vegetable curry!”

“Oh, how nice.”

“Is that all you have to say about it!?”

“Let me taste it first and then we’ll see.” Yuulis scooped a spoonful of curry – making sure to get enough of the broth and the vegetables into the spoon before putting it inside their mouth and swallowing. “Impressive, you actually managed to make it taste good!”

“Nyohoho… Who do you think you’re talking to? Of course, it’s only natural for someone as amazing as me!”

“Where did you manage to get the ingredients for this, though? You didn’t steal them, did you?”

“Well–! I got caught smuggling these veggies by the cafeteria ghosts, but they were nice enough to let me go and teach me how to make this curry. So… technically it wasn’t stealing?”

“Grim.”

“Relax~! The rest I dug up myself from the botanical garden, it’s no biggie.”

“Grim!”

“Ah-! No, wait! Don’t pull on my ears like that–I’m soooooosorry!”

The fire coming from the grill flickered until it eventually burned out and disappeared, the smoke it released into the cool night gradually disappearing. Yuulis sat on the picnic blanket alongside Grim – a half-eaten piece of grilled vegetable laid beside them on a clean plate.

Silence took over the atmosphere as Grim fiddled with his fingers awkwardly while Yuulis looked towards the sky – their golden eyes making out an expression that no one can really put a finger on. Grim followed their gaze as he stared at the sky, some stars shying behind the clouds as the moon shined brightly upon them. He sighed dreamily, “the stars look really beautiful tonight, don'tcha think so?

"There.” Yuulis points towards the sky, “those stars there are Deneb, Altair and Vega; they make up the summer triangle.”

“Huh, really?” Grim crossed his arms.

“Right next to it is Pegasus, and above it is Cassiopeia.”

“That really bright star is Spica. that means Virgo is somewhere nearby” Yuulis trailed off. “It’s a little hard to make out, but right over there is…”

Grim stared at the Ramshackle prefect, his mind wandering to the times he’s spent together with them – from the very first time they met, the time they got chased by a dwarf gnome along with Ace and Deuce, the first Halloween they spent together, and everything else that came along after it that lead them to where they are right now. It was peculiar how Grim felt like his whole life only started upon meeting them. It was as if it was a strange play of Fate that made him feel like his current world revolves around them.

His ears twitched – since when did this happen?

“Where did you learn the names of those stars, minion?” Grim asked after a moment of complete silence upon realizing they stopped talking a few moments ago. Yuulis could only sigh. Followed by a few short seconds of deafening silence accompanied by the crickets near the forest. Melancholy – their expression spoke volumes.

“… It’s what we call them back in my world.” Grim felt his ear twitch a little upon hearing those words fall from their lips. His lips were slightly agape at the mention of their world when they never really talked about or mentioned it before. It was an undeniable sign of trust between the two – a silent pact between the two halves. Yuulis looked down, and they sigh, “now that I look at them closer, they look a little different from the ones back at home. It seems not even our stars are the same, how pitiful.”

“Sometimes I still can’t believe that I’m in a different world,” Yuulis fiddled with their fingers – unable to look at Grim in the eye just yet as they glanced up to the sky once more, “the more I find little things like these that seem impossible, the more I feel lost… and the more I feel like I don’t belong here. I’m an anomaly in Twisted Wonderland, aren’t I?”

Grim’s ears drooped down, the fire flickering out slightly, the feeling of frustration and sadness finally making itself known. For once, he couldn’t bring himself to speak as he stopped eating his food –his mind wandering to the conversation he heard in the library earlier. He clenched his fist.

“Grim,” Yuulis called out his name and Grim’s tail drooped down completely as if it lost its life. “Compared to the hell I lived through I had back then, being here feels like a dream come true. But… someday, I’ll be gone. And when that time comes, nothing good will ever happen in my life again, and…”

“…You won’t be in it too.” Yuulis’ voice cracked ever so slightly – something that couldn’t be heard but felt instead. And Grim felt like the words lodged in his throat were thorns pricking him endlessly as he struggled to get them out. Yuulis rubbed their eyes like getting the dust out, and they finally managed to smile, “when that happens, you have to promise me you’ll be the greatest magician in the world, ‘kay?”

'Stop talking,’ he wanted to shout out. The fire in his ears fully went out and the atmosphere was dead silent as he felt the hole in his chest get bigger with every passing second with Yuulis staying silent. Tears pricked the corner of his eyes, trying to pull himself together as he finally managed to get words out. “Who… who says I’ll be gone?”

“Huh…?”

“Partners are supposed to stick together, right, Yuu? What kind of partner would I be if I just left my minion on my own?” He tried mustering out a laugh, his confident mask crumbling when he barely managed to hold in his sniffles. “If you choose to stay, then stay by my side 'til death parts us… But if you choose to go back,” he took their hands with his, his eyes pearly from the tears he was trying to hold back desperately. “I’m fine with leaving behind everything to follow you.”

Yuulis could barely hold in their shock, their mouth wide open as they tried to piece the jumbled pieces together. They looked at him sternly yet pleading, “Grim you… You shouldn’t leave your home… I’m not worth sacrificing your dreams for.”

He finally let out a small laugh for the first time tonight. “Who do you think you’re talking to?” Grim smiles, “when I’m with you, I feel like I can accomplish anything and so much more. That just means I’ll have to find a way to achieve that dream by your side.”

He paused, tightening his hold around their hand, a fond smile taking over his expression. “Home is when we’re together – where I can feel the warmth of your hands against mine… Just like this.”

'My home is with you,’ he wanted to say.

“That’s why,” he smiled cheekily, “you don’t have to feel alone anymore, okay? The great magician Grim will dispel all your troubles!”

Yuulis could barely let a word out. Their lips were parted from each other yet not a single coherent word could come out of their mouth. As if they were afraid that one more word from them would cause the already fragile Grim to break even further – his heart would shatter into a million pieces. Instead, they laughed. Laughed as they wrapped their arms around Grim as if they wanted to joke about anything and everything like it was any other day.

But laughs turn into silent sobs that they couldn’t hold back any longer – the warm droplets rolling down their cheeks as they hugged Grim even tighter, drowning in his embrace as they dug their face into his chest. 'Don’t leave me,’ they wanted to plea no matter how pathetic it might sound. It was a childish wish yet, to them, it was of importance that no one could really comprehend. For what right does anyone have to gauge someone’s endless loneliness?

Grim could only stay silent as he shed a few tears himself, telling himself he can’t break down right now or else they might feel worse. So he bit his lip, trying to comfort the downhearted prefect… his partner. He could only wish selfishly from the bottom of his heart that the time they have to go back to their world may never come – he was pretty sure of himself that they felt the same way. But what did Fate think of the two anomalies? That was the question that scared them to no end.

They sat there, embracing each other under the moonlit night with only the stars and the moon as their witnesses.

And on that night, for the very first time, Grim was the one to tuck them into bed. All while sending prayers to whoever listened up above:

“… Don’t take them away from me just yet.”

I finally edited all of my twst x reader fics to twst x mc on AO3. You can access them here. I didn’t realise I had written so many TWST fics until I put them here.

These ones has yandere content other than nsfw stuff in it:

My other twst works on AO3:

As much as I loved the crack of this, I couldn’t find motivation to continue. It was MC finding out disney logos in every main location

This one is Secret Santa gift for a server member. It was their OC x yandere!Idia

This is where I first introduced my OC, Natalie Emilia Croft. The first fic on her is a smut with Malleus lmfao

This came later on. Gotta go with angst next in Malleus x Natalie AUs lol

And lastly, this is where I properly introduced my OC. She is my MC so I started from the very first chapter and covered the first 4 chapters of the prologue

All these being shared, I don’t feel motivation to write for twst at the moment. If I write, it’d be commission or if I want to develop my OC more via more fics and chapters. Other than that, I will continue to share memes, incorrect quotes and headcanons from my main.

The lack of updates and the huge breaks for main story updates made me lose interest in twst. Yes, we got event stories but I’d rather have main story completed.

As of now, I will focus on my Black Widow fics and original content as I am currently planning to write my own Otome Isekai

Thank you for the views, kudos, reblogs, follows and comments. They all uplifted my mood every time I saw them on my notification.

Thank you for being with me through my fics from crack to angst, from healthy relationships to yandere <3<3<3

Take care !
