Our last night in Yosemite and we finally made it to Glacier Point! On our way down that evening we saw a wildfire in the distance who’s smoke the next morning would fill Yosemite Valley. As we drove out we could not see the views that we saw when we drove in due to the smoke. This fire was the fire that ended up closing Yosemite National Park for several weeks. I feel lucky we were leaving when we did and that we got see everything before the smoke blocked out the views!

Imogen Cunningham (1883-1976) and Twinka Thiebaud (1945- ) photographed by Judy Dater (1941- ) in Yosemite National Park in 1974. The image was published in a Life magazine special bicentennial edition (“Remarkable American Women,” 1976), the magazine’s first full frontal nude. 45 years later, tumblr routinely censors it.

In the summer, Juls and I had the chance to explore Yosemite National Park along with a few friends. Though we only had a few days, we made the most of every minute going on adventurous hikes, walking alongside beautiful deer, driving through the windy roads, enjoying an amazing philly cheese steak and we were lucky enough to stay at a gorgeous house right in Yosemite.
We loved it so much that the moment we left we already had a yearning to come back even though we still had a 3 month adventure ahead of us across europe, and so we did in the winter of 2016.
