Happy birthday to Lucifer and Me! (I’m 21 finally)
My birthday happens to fall on the same day and Lucifer’s so hey, I decided to draw a 21st birthday celebration for me with Lucifer there too! Someone had a little too much fun with being able to legally drink for the first time and some others had some fun with the two passed out birthday boys.
(Yeah the shading is a little rough I know but this was last minute Bc of work)

We can’t believe 21 years have gone by since a small group of us got together and made big plans to form GALT! But here we are, turning 21 this May. Please help us celebrate by joining us on May 1st, 2022, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at Doubletree Ranch Park for our birthday party! Tickets are only $10 and include all the bottled water you can drink, birthday cake for both humans and hounds, and free beer with the purchase of a $10 beer cup. Proceeds from ticket sales will also go to help the hounds so be sure to get a ticket for you and a friend here today. You are also welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park.
Our birthday party entertainment includes:
- Charcoal portraits by long time GALT artist, Mary Beth Gibson, one dog for $25 and two dogs for $35 within the same portrait;
- Greyhound Spa Nail Trims for $10 on a first come, first served basis;
- Reiki by certified Reiki master Suzanne Burke for $10 for 10 minutes by appointment;
- Animal communicator sessions, 15 minutes for $25, walk ups welcome or email [email protected] for an appointment in advance;
- Shopping new merchandise including collars and t-shirts at the GreytStore and LePope Designs;
- Volunteer Recognition;
- Fun contests including a hound costume contest (held at the end so they don’t have to be dressed up all day);
- Great raffle drawings and prizes, raffle tickets are $5 for three tickets; and
- Live Auction!

On Turning 21
I turned 21 a week ago. Now, it’s more of a “remembering to not panic around alcohol haha that’s weird” thing. But years to months to weeks before, it was the panic that ensues for many, if not most disabled people and/or their families when they turn 21.
21 means no more IEP.
21 means no more pediatric specialists for your pediatric disorder.
21 means no more pediatric “special needs” services— and a dearth of adult ones.
21 means transition.
21 means voc rehab and higher ed, waitlists and internal dread.
21 means your diagnoses after this point are no longer developmental
21 means uncertainty.
21 means what comes next?
21 means adulthood.
21 means independence.
21 means fear.
21 means shit this is real life now.
21 means how the fuck am I going to navigate these systems.
21 means I’m doing it.
21 means remember the world isn’t built for you.
21 means remember the world doesn’t want you.
21 means it’s your time to challenge these standards in unprecedented ways.
21 means I’m scared and don’t want to.
21 means but this is how it is now.
21 means you can do it.
21 means how do I do it.
21 means only you can figure that out.
21 means you will.
21 means you will forge a path for yourself in this confusing and scary world.
21 means you will help others along the way.
21 means you will find meaning.
21 means no one knows what the future holds.
But
21 means that you hold it.

OMG my boyfriend got me a late birthday present because it was so expensive. He got me a pearl necklace . With one real pearl on it *.* it’s so pretty . I’ve always wanted a pearl . He gets the best gifts!
I need to get us some matching shoes for his birthday. It’s gonna be vans that are colorblock with blue, yellow, green, and red. I know he will love them and so will I. Plus there’s this matching shirt I totally want .
He hates when I take photos of him . Lol also forgive the trash we moved in a while ago but don’t know what to do with all these boxes full of crap I want to throw away. But that’s not our call….
And that’s cornstarch . Our baby bird ! He loves screaming . Just all the time and right in the ear.
