LIVE

Some bitch just called me a meth head because of my blisters from my skin disease v.v,

I tried explaining to her I don’t do meth I just have a skin disease but she was sure of her self. What an arrogant bitch! I told her she was one too.

It hurts because I knew people might of thought that ever since some guy offered me drugs . Just because my face has blisters that are painful and huge doesn’t mean I’m on drugs . It makes me want to die when people say that because of the way I look. So I guess I’m going to stay hidden until I’m cured.

My boyfriend tried to comfort me but it still hurts. He doesn’t care if he catches my disease because he loves me no matter what I have or how I look .

The blisters are so painful…

I use a benzoyl peroxide wash to help kill the infection. Also use one tea spoon of bleach with one gallon of water , spray it on my body and let it sit for 5 mins before washing off . Dr told me to do it so I’m sure it’s probably decent for my skin.

For my scars that the blisters leave behind I use :

• vitamin E oil

• grape seed oil

• safflower oil

• Aztec Secret Indian Healing clay mask.

Together they all take away my most deep or darkest of scars . It’s like I never even had them !

Personally I think chubby girls are way hotter then any other type of girl. I hate when people make blogs of “hot women” and it’s only anorexic bitches.

I know some people can’t help that they can’t gain weight but they should just be glad they look how everyone(almost) wants to look and or the way society tells them they have to look. So in the eyes of urisentric beauty they are the sexiest thing ever, but not to me. I feel bad for the skinny girls who want to be chubby but can’t and I hate the skinny girls who constantly complain about being chubby when they aren’t . I’m like hello if you think your so chubby look at me , you’d kill your self if you had my body type. I don’t like chubby girls because I’m chubby , I’m chubby because I like chubby girls . I used to be 100LB now im 130LB and everyone compliments me more, however guys don’t approach me as much but I’m ok with that lol. Sorry if I offended someone but this is how I feel , it doesn’t make it true it’s just how I feel.

That’s basically my body type but I’m sure she’s taller then me. Most women are hah ^.^ yay short club party of one☝️

My Marc Jacobs perfume came in!

I’ve been saving a long time for these . My fav is daisy love because it’s more floral but daisy is a more romantic smell. I like to spray it on the areas of my body that tend to be the hottest (ex the back of my knee, inner arm behind the elbow, neck, wrists, inner middle thigh)

I found this painting in an ally . How could someone throw it away it’s gorgeous. #recycleddecor

Sorry I haven’t been posting lately I’ve been dealing with a skin disease that will scar my face and body for the rest of my life because of the pain full blisters all over my body.

I got this illness from my exboyfriends dirty house. We broke up after he cheated on me then I was diagnosed with this illness the day after … I don’t know what I did to deserve this but I’m trying to remain hopeful that my body will heal and I can go back to normal. Until then no face pics . He cheated on me with my exfriend I told him I hated because she’s a slut and what did he do, he slept with her . Now I’m stuck living with him until I can afford to move out in febuary . He’s a constant painful reminder of the betrayal… I wish I could afford face laser surgery and be beautiful again.

I’m doing everything I can to prevent scars . Using vitamin e oil, Aztec secret clay mask calcium benotinite, benzoyl peroxide face wash, some perscribed toner, and many more products. I just hope people will still find me beautiful. My mom told me at least I don’t have to worry about people using me for my looks so I guess I’m never going to be as beautiful as I was before . And I only just realized my beauty…

Vitamins

And why you should be taking them -.-

• Vitamin A : Aids in the formation and over all health of soft tissues, bones, mucous membranes, teeth and skin.

• Vitamin B6 : A.K.A pyridoxine. Lends a hand in forming red blood cells and also maintaining brain function. This vitamin is important in maintaining proteins that are part of many chemical reactions in the body. The more you eat protein, the more pyridoxine your body needs.

Vitamin B12 : Plays a big role in metabolization, while also helping form red blood cells and maintaining the central nervous system.

Vitamin C : A.K.A ascorbic acid, an antioxidant that improves the health of teeth and gums. Aids the body in absorbing iron and maintaining healthy tissue. It is essential for healing wounds.

Vitamin D : Known as the “sun vitamin,” because it is created by the body from being in the sun. For most people - You only need 10 to 15 minutes of sunlight 3x a week to produce the right amount of vitamin D. It is hard to get the right amount of vitamin D from food. Vitamin D makes it easier for the body to absorb calcium. Calcium is essential for normal development and maintenance of healthy bones and teeth. Also it helps in maintaining the right amount of blood levels of calcium and phosphorus in the body.

Vitamin E : An antioxidant known as tocopherol that aids the body in forming red blood cells and boosting the effects of vitamin K.

Vitamin K : Helps with bruising . Some studies found it is important for bone health.

Biotin : Assists in metabolizing proteins and carbohydrates/ the production of hormones and cholesterol.

Niacin : A B vitamin. Helps in the up keep of healthy skin and nerves. At high doses it has cholesterol-lowering effects.

Folate : Works with vitamin B12 to aid in the formation of red blood cells. Needed for the production of DNA that manages tissue growth and cell function. Pregnant women should be sure to get enough folate or it can cause birth defects like spina bifida. A lot of food is now fortified with folic acid.

Pantothenic acid : Essential for the metabolism of food. It also plays a role in making hormones and cholesterol.

Riboflavin : Vitamin B2 , teams up with the other B vitamins. Important for growing and regeneration of skin and the making of red blood cells.

Thiamine : Vitamin B1, helps cells change carbohydrates into energy. Having the right amount of carbohydrates is extremely essential while pregnant and breastfeeding, and for heart function and exquisite nerve cells.

Choline : Aids in the function of the brain and nervous system. Having a choline deficiency will cause swelling in liver.

Carnitine: helps the body to change fatty acids into energy.

My glam bag arrived! I switched to Boxycharm because IPSY didn’t have good customer service and wouldn’t let me buy stuff . I was like please take my money. But I’m glad I canceled it because this month I’m getting BOXYCHARM! It’s so much nicer and way more helpful! And the questionnaire it way more extensive so they get a better idea of what you want in your box. The only down side is they don’t give you a cute bag each time but it’s basically the better version of IPSY . I will miss those bags though…

Also carful with cheap sheet masks. These Jayjung ones where good but I got a 1$ one from target and it literally ripped off a small piece of my face! I hope it doesn’t scar :/ .

Can’t wait to post about my boxycharm! Theses subscriptions are literally the cheapest way I get makeup and skincare. The skincare lasts me 2 months and each item is so luxurious at only 35$ a month! I end up saving money on all natural skincare while also creating new routines each month . I do rebuy items I love like Cake anti frizz cream, Jayjun masks, Herbivore CBD Oil, skinwarrior anti pollution repair cream, and TonyMoly Moisture Boost Gel Cleanser.

So basically if you get one you’ll save a ton on beauty products and get to try new things as well as save a ton on makeup . I literally have 7 eyeliners . My fav is by Skone. It doesn’t dry out as fast as KVD (I hate her eyeliner) and tarte( pretty decent eyeliner dries out in 1 month though)

Favorite Blush And It Doesn’t Cause Acne!

NARS Blush Shade Angelica

It looks peach in this lighting.

It’s always best to go for powder blush if you get cheek acne, because liquid blush can pool in enlarged pores.

I fell in love with this shade when Sephora gave me a free sample size. It compliments my pale ghost like skin tone so well. Giving me a warm lively look. Another reason is it doesn’t give me acne unlike the Bobbie Brown blush does.

Also pink is like my top fav color so this perfect light pink color really matches all my pink clothes.

New Skincare routine

I feel as though my old routine just doesnt work anymore. Its been 2 weeks of acne hell so i thought id change things up a bit.

I bought a few new things to help with my acne, dark spots, and uneven texture. Also my skin barrier is terrible . My skin peels off so easily when I GENTLY pop a zit . So I’m trying to get that fixed. I’m also tryin to lessen my cigarette intake. I went from 10 cigs a day to 5 and hopefully I’ll quit all together when my life gets more stable. Also if anyone wants to recommend products to super strengthen my skin barrier that’d be great!

- Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream

• Deeply penetrates skin to regenerate surface skin cells, hydrate, and diminish wrinkles and fine lines.

• I think it also exfoliates or something’s because it has a light burning sensation that resembles the feeling of an AHA and BHA exfoliant.

Sensitive Skin Warning!

Be careful not to use more than one product containing phenoxyethanol in a 6-12 hour time frame!

Phenoxyethanol is a preservative, an anti-bacterial, and a stabilizer found in many products. Its a great alternative to parabens.

Products containing 1% or less are deemed totally safe by nearly all countries, however when using multiple products, each containing 1%, it adds up leading to over exposure of phenoxyethanol. So be cautious not to layer too many products with this ingredient at one time on skin. Over exposure can cause hives, rash, anaphylaxis, and dermatitis on adults, as well as animals and infants { causes nervous system damage in infants ages 3 and younger}.

Here’s a quote:

◇"Most of the concern stems from recorded incidents of bad skin reactions (on adults) and nervous system interaction in infants.“- Healthline

Phenoxyethanol Free Products:

◇ Caudalie VineActive Vitamin C Anti-Wrinkle Serum

◇Belif True Cream Moisturizing Bomb

◇Olehenriksen Goodnight Glow Retin-ALT Sleeping Creme

◇Herbivore Prism 12% AHA 3% BHA Exfoliating Glow Serum

◇Josie Maran Argan Beta Retinol Pink Algae Serum

My opinion: its totally safe to use ONE product for adults containing phenoxyethanol every 6 hours. That way you wont get over exposure. If you like using more than one product on your face at a time try products that are free of this chemical to avoid harsh side effects. I feel using one or two products with phenoxyethanol wont kill you or even bother your skin ( in my experience) unless you are allergic.

Im totally investing in those products above to avoid over exposure. Lately my skins been very sensitive and red so i want to avoid any and all causes!

Went to Malibu for the first time.

I didn’t get to see the pier though because it’s closed.

First time going somewhere since quarantine.

So many people at the beach weren’t wearing masks. What do they not get . There’s a virus out killing the younge and old and to lessen deaths all you have to do is wear a mask. It’s not hard. Also a couple had like a new born out with no mask or any protection. Not trying to judge but if I had a baby I wouldn’t let my new born out during this pandemic. Especially with out protection. I can’t even see my grandparents because of this and I fear they are going to die soon due to age and I don’t even get to spend time with them v.v but it’s for their safety. This just sucks so hard and some people aren’t even trying to protect themselves and others around them.

Truly Madly Deeply palette by colorpop and shade Roy Gi Biv

Ive been looking for a mostly pink palette that wasnt terrible for the longest and finally found one! Color pop eyeshadows are always so pigmented and never look caked. Im also getting the PUR Cosmetics trolls pop palette, the tiny one. Its all pink. Also its buy one get one free all may ❤ on the PUR website.

My fav colors are the thick glittery ones. There are one of the best thick glitter eyeshadows ive ever applied. They give a clean glittery crease.

You can barely notice the first 2 shades because they blend in with my pale complexion. I need a tan, as well as any suggestions on self tanners for the body and face .-.

I like to put a peel off mask on my cheeks to catch all the glitter and powder that falls when applying.

P.S the purple shades come out as dusty pink and rose shades.

At Home Acylic Nails

Items needed:

You may spend 100$ or more however in the long run your saving 50 to 100$ a month and can replace your own broken nail if you have a nail accident.

• Cuticle remover

• Buffing block

• Nail file

• Nail prep/ dehydrator

• Nail Primer. Alcohol-free

• 2 Dappen dishes or glass cups. Though I wouldn’t want to drink out of it afterwards.

• Acrylic nail brush or just tiny paint brushes. The better the quality the better the nail! Doesn’t have to be expensive just not those nylon or plastic ones

• Lint-free wipes

• Giant/ strong nail clippers and or scissors

• Acylic powder

• Acrylic liquid. It’s recommended to use the medium speed one . Especially if your a beginner. Aka acrylic monomer.

• Nail tips

• Nail glue. Recommend glue- IBD 5 Second Brush On Nail Glue. The tubes tend to get glued shut so I prefer the brush on glues. And I wipe off any glue on the outside to reassure it won’t glue it’s self shut.

• PURE acetone

• Cuticle Oil ( optional )

• Nail top coat and Nail base coat

• Pinching tool ( optional )

• Manicure brush ( optional )

• Cuticle pusher. A 2 sided tool that has a flat end and a knife end. Both sides are very sharp!

• Your definitely going to need a UV LED lamp polish curing Acylic timer light . You can find one for 20$ at Walmart. It’s preferred to buy one with 48w or higher.

Step 1:

Nail Prepping-

1. Apply cuticle remover with a lint-free wipe.

2. Push the cuticle back with the flat side. Be careful.

3. Buff the nail using your buffing block. Remove the dust with the manicure brush or a tissue/ wipe.

Step 2:

Nail Tip Application-

1. Pick out the right size nail tips. Make sure they aren’t too tight or they may pop off.

2. Apply glue to the end of the nail that will meet your nail bed. Don’t use too much or it will get every where. Trust me Ik lol.

Hold down tight for 15 seconds.

3. Cut nails to preferred length

4. File nails to shape them. I prefer squoval and or ballerina tips.

5. File where the nail tip meets your nail bed so it will be smooth. Doesn’t have to be completely smooth. Don’t forget to file underneath the nail tip for a more elegant look. To lessen the under-curve.

Step 3:

Acrylic Time! -

1. Pour the acrylic liquid in one dappen dish and acrylic powder in the other dappen dish.

2. Dip your brush ( paint or nail brush) into the acrylic liquid dish. Wipe the side on the inside top part of the dish to remove excess liquid.

3. After dipping your drush in acrylic liquid your gonna dip it in the acrylic powder. You’ll see it form a cloudy somewhat solid circle of wet powder around the brush. Your gonna wanna wipe it all onto the nail. The amount of powder you use depends on the size of the nail.

4. Quickly but steadily bush the wet powder evenly over the nail and nail tip. Wait a few seconds and it will get hard.

5. File the tops of your nails to even out the hardened acrylic powder for a sleeker look! You may need to file the sides if it gets a bit messy hah. Been there done that.

Step 4:

Nail Painting-

Normal Polish:

1. Apply a top coat over the acrylic nail. Air dry for 2 mins or 10 seconds with the LED light.

2. Apply your favorite color of polish. I prefer pink

And your done!

Gel Polish:

Apply sunscreen!

1. Apply nail dehydrator

2. Brush on nail primer

3. Apply a top coat to the acrylic nail. Let it dry any way you choose

4. Apply a base coat . Dry it with an LED light for 10 seconds

5. Choose your favorite gel polish (great deals on amazon and at Walmart) then brush on your first layer. Dry for 30 seconds

6. Brush on your second layer of gel polish. If you need to do it a third time go ahead. Dry for 30 seconds.

(Optional: place a tiny gem on your nail or flower nail stickers)

7. Apply a top coat. Dry for 60 seconds.

Your all done!!!!! And you look great ;) .

How to clean your acrylic brushes:

1. Soak your brushes in acrylic liquid ( aka acrylic monomer) for 1 hour.

2. Rinse with hot water and rub off the now mushy somewhat soiled acrylic powder.

3. Soak your brushes again for another hour.

4. Rise once more in hot water and rub away the mushy powder stuff.

5. Repeat if needed. Don’t soak brushes too long in acrylic liquid or they will fall apart! Also don’t use too hot of water, please. you don’t want to burn yourself.

How to remove gel polish:

1. Buy gel polish remover nail clips

2. Use a lint free wipes and put some pure acetone on them.

3. Put the now wet wipes on your nail and clip the nail clip onto your finger.

4. Wait 30 to 60 minutes then use your cuticle remover( the flat side) to scrape off the gel polish. It should be easy if you have 100% acetone.

And tour done! Now repaint those nails or whatever you did this for !

Did My Own Nails!

Brown with leopard print.

It took 2 hours to finish both hands v.v . I could have probably don’t it in a hour but I wanted them to be perfect . Every time I do my nails they get better and better each time.

Please excuse my red hand. I forgot to put sunscreen on before using the UV ray nail dry . It’s so bad to use a lot so sometime when doing acrylics I just use normal polish instead of gel polish.

Oh my glob. It’s been so long, skinternet friends. yes! I am still alive somehow!

I think it’s maybe been a good year or two since I posted any real content on here. I’m not sure if anyone is still out there, but if you are and you’re reading this, I’m glad you’re still part of the SUNDAYSKIN fam.

No long, detailed review this time around. Just wanted to quickly share two products I’ve been religiously using (and loving).

If your skin is raw, red, irritated and hyper-sensitive to just about everything besides holy water, this is for you. Or, maybe you’re just looking for some good, no BS skincare products to add to your collection — this is for you too.

TOSOWOONG SOS Repair Cica Clinic Zinc Oxide 10% Cream - AKA redness who?

This cream is meant to help heal and calm red, sensitive, irritated skin. You could technically use this as a moisturizer, but it’s so thick that it tends to peel. Not to mention the white cast, lol. Instead, I use this as a spot treatment/mask, which is pretty much how it is supposed to be used.

Whenever I pop a pimple (sue me!), rub my face too much, or just have a red and irritated area, I immediately cover it with a thick layer of this and keep it on as long as I can manage. Sometimes that’s 20 minutes and sometimes that’s 2 hours.

Either way, it seriously calms down any redness that I have so that it is basically nonexistent. I’ve tried so many calming products and this is the first that actually shows a visual difference in such a short time. It’s a godsend for me because even the smallest itch or tiniest pimple leaves so much redness and it lasts FOREVER. If I pop a pimple, I literally can’t go out for the next 48 hours, lmao.

I absolutely recommend this for a super-fast, anti-redness, soothing spot treatment/mask. If it works for you like it works for me, you’ll see and feel calming results almost immediately, and the longer you keep it on, the better the results will be. I grabbed mine off yesstyle for about $25.

AMPLE: N Ceramide Shot Ampoule - AKA your skincare porridge

The internet tells me ceramides are the ultimate barrier-protecting and barrier-strengthening ingredient and that they also help your skin retrain moisture, and I’m sold!

This for me is the most soothing, nourishing product I’ve ever tried and it never once has caused me irritation, stinging, or breakouts, and my skin is so sensitive (even aloe vera sometimes stings! what oddity of nature is that??). If you could describe a skincare product as caring, this would be the poster child. You know when you’ve got a cold, your nose is runny, and it’s like late autumn so it’s grey and rainy af, and you just want a warm, steamy bowl of porridge? This serum is THAT porridge, but, you know, for your face, lol.

This is a thicker essence texture but it has no sticky or heavy feeling at all. It glides on so smoothly and seeps into the skin pretty quickly; apply it fresh out of the fridge and you might shed a tear! Dry skin types will especially love this just because it is so nourishing and moisturizing, not only on the surface but deep within the skin, if that makes sense. I do one good layer of this every morning and night in place of an essence and serum. It never clashes with my sunscreen, tretinoin, creams, or anything.

This is one I’ll probably always be repurchasing, and that is super rare for someone like me that can barely finish half a product before moving on to something different (guilty!).

If your skin is in need of the ultimate soothing, healing product to repair and nourish your skin from the inside out, this might be the one. The price of this guy varies, so I’d search around to see where you can find it the cheapest. I got my current bottle from Jolse.

Okay, that’s all for now… See you in another two years?

⭐The Best Alternative to Pore Strips⭐

Hi skincare friends~ on today’s agenda is a short review of Peace Out Skincare’s pore strips, the ~better~ alternative to classic pore strips (in my experience).

So, if you haven’t heard yet, traditional pore strips are actually pretty rough on your skin and are very short term in their visual effects, if they work on you at all. When I did use them back in my early skincare days, they never really did anything for my blackheads but take out a few here and there.

I feel like classic pore strips are that thing you used to do in middle school or high school that you thought was cool at the time but now you have nightmare-flashbacks about it and you’re like what in the hell was I doing?lol.

I grabbed these pore strips online after hearing James Welsh talk about them in a video, mentioning how he left them on overnight on special occasions. Lord knows I had that in my digital cart so fast, lol.

These Peace Out pore strips are pretty self explanatory for anyone familiar with a pimple patch like the OG Cosrx patches: they’re like your typical hydrocolloid pimple patches but the size of a pore strip with the addition of pore clearing and minimizing ingredients like Vitamin A.

Which, I think, is pretty genius — I remember when I first discovered how awesome pimple patches were and I wished they’d make a whole sheet mask of one, lol.

I left this on overnight, because applying it (like the instructions say) on cleansed/dry skin and leaving it on for 4-6 hours sort of dwindled my practical options to leaving it on while I sleep.

I definitely slept longer than 4-6 hours btw, so leave it on at your own discretion, as the instructions do clearly say 4-6 hours.

⭐ So, here’s the verdict ⭐

✔️ no dryness, redness, or leftover residue

✔️ no tearing at your skin

✔️ no pain taking it off

✔️ actually clears pores and minimizes their appearance

I was shocked that these actually cleared out my stubborn nose blackheads. Like I’ve used chemical peels and scrubs (yes, I’ve sinned), and I routinely use a retinol product  — but I still constantly have congested pores. These are a win for me, and a definite repurchase.

I’d totally recommend using these strips on special occasions or during your occasional ~extra pampering~ skincare routine with maybe another one of your masks, treatments, or tools to jazz it up.

As of today, 10/19/21, Peace Out’s website is currently doing free shipping on all orders, and I used the code “WELCOME15” that saved me a little on my order, too — not sure if it’s still active when you’re reading this, but definitely give it a go or search online for another coupon code! *Skincare friends rule #13: help your skincare friends save money on skincare.*

Also, as a little side note, I’ve only used this on my nose area so far, as that’s really the only area I suffer from large pores/blackheads. This box also comes with another strip, which I assume is for your chin, forehead, or anywhere else really.

Speaking of which, my packages say “1 nose strip and 1 pore strip,” which is sort of confusing, considering each strip, no matter the shape, is for pores. At first, it made me think that the strip was a 2-step process, but it isn’t. I went on their website and it shows a picture of slightly different packaging reading “1 blackhead strip and 1 pore strip,” which is again weird for the same reasons.

Anyhow, I plan on using all the strips for my nose, regardless of the difference in shape — but you can totally feel free to use these anywhere where you suffer from blackheads or pore issues. Arms? Back? Check? Yep! You do you boo.

Hello skincare friends. So my past post on “10 Things I Used to Believe About Skincare But Now I Know Aren’t True” made me realize that I’ve told you all a few things in the past that I know now were a little off (or alot off, lol). So here’s a list of things I’ve written in past posts or in ask replies that were actually mostly (or totally) wrong. Preliminary note: whoops.

1. “If a skincare product is too thick or heavy, you can mix in a bit of water before applying—it’ll make it lighter and spread easier. This includes sunscreens!”

image

Oh lord Jesus, we’re starting off strong. Diluting an spf with water?! That has to be one of the 10 sins of skincare written in the holy skincare bible. Okay, okay, but wait—most of this is actually pretty accurate: you CAN dilute products with lighter products, or just plain water, for whatever reason. The INCORRECT thing I’ve said here is that mixing spf with water is okay. I’m here to tell 2017 me it is NOT okay, lol. You’re probably better off not diluting your spfs, especially with water, as it will most likely (1) mess with the formula and (2) decrease the protection factor. *2020 self slaps 2017 self*

2. “Try an aloe vera gel for a moisturizer; this is great for ALL skin types, especially oily, because it’s so light but so moisturizing too.”

Well, this one isn’t totally off point. Aloe vera IS super light, but it’s not really thatmoisturizing. I’d correct myself and say plain aloe vera gel probably won’t provide you the sort of deep, nourishing hydration ALL skin types need, even my oily skin friends. AKA no matter what skin condition you have, you need a sufficient amount of hydration/moisturization, and aloe vera alone probably won’t give you that.

3. ”Try to find simple, natural products because these will be best for your sensitive skin.”

image

“Simple”? “Natural”? Let me stop myself right there. Here are two formulas to take down in your notes ladies: natural does not always = gentler and simple does not always = gentler.Got it? So I think less-experienced me assumed that products with simpler ingredient lists and “all-natural” ingredients automatically meant the product would be more gentle and maybe even just generally better for you—not true (but good try). Actually, and this is a plot twist, sometimes more “natural” products are MORE unpredictable in how they’ll react to the skin. Even Darth Vader is quaking okay.

4. “It’s good to have an external exfoliator to use a few times a week.”

Oh brother, here we go. So scrubs are a pretty ~disputed~ product in the skincare world, especially the ones with particularly large and/or jagged granules. Some people loath them, some swear by them, some are in between. My mindset is that while scrubs have some possible benefits when usedcarefully, they have their definite, proven disadvantages. The primary purpose they have—exfoliation—can be amazing for the skin, however the method scrubs provide exfoliation through—scrubbing/rubbing/scratching—isn’t always so great. You gotta use them right and carefully, and even then there is still the possibility they’re being more harsh with your skin than necessary. Anyone that reads my more recent stuff might know that I now prefer chemical exfoliants like ahas, bhas, and so on. Compared to scrubs, you can find different forms, methods, and strengths of chemical exfoliants, so I’d even say they are more customizable to you and your skin. Granted, everyone is different (if you didn’t know this already, well, welcome to Earth). The final verdict: you do you, but just remember to be gentle to your skin, because you only have one—unless, you know, you’re planning on being in Face/Off 2.

5. “A good clay mask is a must for oily, acne-prone skin!”

image

God I think I’m gonna hurl at the sight of that exclamation point. Okay, so yes. It’s true clay masks are generally a good item to have in your skincare collection—they can help alleviate acne, improve skin texture and tone, help detox/clear pores and so on and so forth, but I think my recommendation here specifically for oily skin types is founded on an inaccurate belief: oily skin types should use products to dry out their oils. This is wrong and can ironically just intensify the oil production on your face. An oversimplified explanation: if you purposefully leave your skin dry or don’t provide enough hydration/moisture, your skin is likely to overproduce oils to compensate. What you should be doing instead, my oily skin friends, is hydrating your skin and keeping it balanced. Here’s the oily skin paradox: often giving more moisture to your oily skin can alleviate the overproduction of oils. Shook? Me too girl, me too.

6. “You’re younger, so I think a simple routine will be best for you.”

This recommendation was to a young anon (preteen-ish I think) looking to start their first routine. I think when I wrote this I was probably just trying to say that a more simple routine would fit this anon’s situation better but the problem between the lines is that it gives off the impression that younger people automatically shouldonly be doing simple routines. But the truth is, once you are able to become aware/conscious of your skin’s health and of the idea of skincare, your age really has little to do with how simple or complex your routine is. Other factors like your daily life, health, skin condition, etc. are what will matter. I mean, yeah, maybe a “simpler” routine is generally a better fit for the characteristics/lives of young people, but it’s definitely not a universal fit. Anyone that goes around saying things like “he’s/she’s too young to have that many products/those kinds of products in his/her skincare routine” is probably basing their comments on misguided perceptions about age and skincare. C’mon son!

7. “Because you have acne you don’t want to use so many products, especially serums, that will make your skin congested.”

This is an oddly specific and clearly overgeneralized suggestion for something that varies wildly based on so many factors, including the person. Let’s break it down, shall we? There are two main claims here and they’re both inaccurate. (1) Using “many products” doesnot universally make your skin more congested/cause more acne. (2) Serums donot universally make skin congested. I’m really not sure where my head was at for this one.

Well there you have it! Most of these weren’t that bad… right? Maybe next round I’ll go with “Things I’ve Said About Skincare in the Past That Were Actually, Totally True” because I gotta give myself some credit lol. And, just a little FYI, I’ve obviously taken these past recommendations/comments out of context and most were cut to emphasize/highlight the clearlyincorrect parts. This was for the purpose of discussing why these things aren’t the best advice. Anyhow, until next time, this was your ~most favoritest in the world~ skincare blog, SUNDAYSKIN.
