Kagome knew she was playing dirty. She had lured Inuyasha into a false sense of security. He thought she was working late, and a small, wicked part of her delighted in knowing he was so unsuspecting while she stared at his front door.
She’d learned his nose would catch on quick, so she knocked, holding her breath while the shuffle of feet drew nearer.
The lock went first, then the chain, then the door opened. But it wasn’t Inuyasha on the other side, and Kagome’s heart sank when she came face to face with a stranger who wasn’t her boyfriend.

“Hm,” he hummed, looking over his shoulder towards the crosswalk where they usually parted. “Thought I’d walk you all the way.”
“You’re not going to be late?”
“Nah,” he said, raising their joined hands to place a kiss against her knuckles. “I’ve got time.”

“You’re having second thoughts?”
“What? No, of course not,” she scoffed. “I have too much stuff. Inuyasha said bring anything, but I don’t think he means anything, you know? Where did I even get all this crap anyway?”
“You’re panicking. I’m sure he just wants you there. Endless trinkets included.”
“This isn’t helping.”
“Do you want help?”
Her pacing ceased, and she breathed a sigh of relief. “Yes.”

Kagome froze mid dishwashing. Her head snapped towards Inuyasha, where he leaned against the counter, contemplating her.
She couldn’t place the look on his face, his words were scrambled, and her brain failed to process them. “What?”
“Move in with me,” he repeated, and as the silence stretched on, his mouth curved into that damned infuriating smirk. She couldn’t help but match it, and the plate she’d been holding sank to the bottom of the bowl.
“Okay,” she agreed, and he was on her without a care for the wet, soapy hands raking through his hair.
