Everyone…after having the prequel information mulling around in my head since last night…I’m conflicted as fuck.
Having an origin story of John and Mary makes no sense to me. We already know enough through the flashbacks we’ve had. Also, how would we make this work with John not being a hunter or even know about the supernatural until after Mary’s death? This sounds like they’re opening the door for too many plot holes and I don’t like it. And I mean, let’s be honest–John and Mary were two of the least liked characters throughout the entire series.
I wanted more SPN so badly and having Jensen take the reigns is awesome, and having him narrate is beautiful…but it doesn’t feel right. Maybe if it was about the traumatic childhood they had and about the boys growing up learning to be hunters while taking care of each other…I might feel different. But this just doesn’t feel like the right way to go with it.
Not to mention the whole fiasco with Jared not even knowing about the show until it was announced on Twitter. I’m giving Jensen the benefit of the doubt and assuming there was an NDA or something until the release. Jared said they’ve spoken and that things are okay now, but I know he’s hurting. None of this feels right and I’m incredibly torn about how I’m supposed to feel.
I dont know how many of you are in the same boat I am with all of this…but I’m not as excited about this as I would like to be–that’s for damn sure.
Side bar: this fandom can be so damn toxic. Don’t go after either of the guys for their parts in this. They’re only human and they’re getting insane levels of harassment and shame.

like what jackles and the prequel seem to not understand or care about is that mary and john were forced together by god so that they could give birth to vessels. they were fucking trapped together and they were NOT good for one another. and i’m notone to give a fuck about the sanctity of the plot of the cw’s supernatural, but like. that’s kind of critical to telling a story about those characters pre-series. if that’s not how you handle it, it completely undoes the majority of supernatural’s overarching plot. like. what.
the thing is i would have loved a prequel show if it was JUST about mary. buffy the vampire slayer it. make it a teen drama. set it at her high school. do a crossover with the riverdale verse even!!!
