This is an elaboration of this post.gilivhan does a pretty good job of explaining things, but I noticed an error in generation two (regarding the law of independent assortment), so, as a biology major, I thought I could help with this.

so, idk if anyone will see this or care, but here’s what’s happening re: me, my life, my online presence.
1) I’m doing much better, mentally and emotionally, thank you so much for asking! taking a break from tumblr/leaving the fandom was one hundred million billion percent the right call.
2) I know I said I would continue posting fic, something I obviously haven’t done. I’m not obligated to explain myself, but I will anyway. In the months since leaving, I actually started writing my own original fiction. Writing fanfic definitely helped me get back into writing original fiction, which I am very grateful for, but at this point, I think it’s pretty unlikely that I’ll ever post on ao3 again. I’m really sorry if you were reading and enjoying one of my wips, and I thank you for the kudos and the comments and messages, I really do, but I just don’t think getting back into the fanfic headspace is the right place for me to be rn.
3) which brings me to: what to do with this blog? clearly, I haven’t abandoned it forever like I said I would, and lately I’ve been thinking about turning it into a casual writeblr/aesthetic kind of space, since I would really like writing friends (esp folks writing ya) /writing advice, that kind of thing. I’m not sure if I’m actually going to do that, but it’s def an idea I’m tossing around. So, you know, if you feel like you’d be interested in that kind of thing, stick around, and if not, no hard feelings. honestly really surprised more people haven’t unfollowed me? but like in a good way. it makes me feel loved.

Playing catch-up cuz I’ve been exhausted and supremely forgetful recently. FYI I post all my comics in Instagram first and *generally* remember to post them on Facebook SO if you would like to see them sooner you can always follow me over there. ♀️
Also, watching the Obi-Wan series is bringing back lots of memories of being 10-12 and crushing on Hayden Christensen with my older sister. And then getting really sick of Attack of the Clones after we watched nearly every day for a few months (because my sister was and is even more obsessive than me).
Grand Cleric Elthina is honestly one of the most obnoxious people to talk to in the entire series. More than anything it’s the narrative framing and the way that her dialogue often sounds superficially reasonable if you ignore the broader context. Wanting to stay “neutral” and avoid “taking sides” makes sense for some random private citizen who just wants to get by in the hellhole of Kirkwall and stay out of trouble, but Elthina is consistently refusing to rein in her own troops from committing war crimes (up to and including actions actually labeledgenocideandcompared to the goddamn Shoahin-universe) and insisting on not “taking sides” between her own military and the civilians begging for relief and a return to law and order.
If Hawke tells her “You’re useless,” this is how she responds:
“There are many strong opinions in this city, child. It is not my place to decide who is right.”
“You disapprove of me. You think I should send the templars against the Qunari, perhaps? Destroy the mages or set them free?”
That last line bears repeating: “Destroy the mages or set them free?”
‘Oh well, some people think it’s wrong to pack law-abiding citizens in a bona fide slave dungeon, while others literally want to commit genocide against them. “It’s not my place to decide who is right.” Both are equally valid, totally normal opinions deserving of respect and needing to be balanced for the greater good. I am a good centrist politician.’
