i finally got over my writer’s block for chapter 57 of make them gold and honestly it’s wild from start to finish and i love the chaos involved. also it’s where draco’s redemption starts, aurelia gets into a fist fight, and everything starts to fall apart for our dearly beloved, asterope.

This wasn’t the first time Marinette bumped into Adrien. It wouldn’t be a big deal if it wasn’t for Tikki slipping out of her purse and catching Adrien’s attention.

Whenever Adrien imagined sharing a hotel room with Ladybug…it wasn’t like this. It was supposed to be on a desert island somewhere, they were supposed to be happy, and he always figured he’d actually know Ladybug’s real name by then.
Instead, Adrien’s injured and Ladybug’s insistent on hiding him away from Hawk Moth. Plus, as if finding out he’s been fighting his father for years isn’t enough, Adrien’s pretty sure Ladybug’s been acting differently since she found out who he is. What he is.
And Ladybug…has no idea what to say to make things better.
Aunt Alya and Uncle Nino were right next door and the security system was on. The children had been asleep when Paris’ heroic duo had snuck off into the night. The duo thought that the kids would remain that way until after their return from once again saving Paris.
As hoarse coughs wracked Marinette’s body, Barkk felt sorry for her Guardian. She was one of the most hard-working, dedicated, passionate and caring Guardians she had ever had, and she knew the other kwamis felt the same. And with Trixx’s girl also out of commission, the kwamis agreed that the best course of action would be to contact the Guardian’s partner, Chat Noir. Tikki had mentioned he was a lovely holder (Sass agreed with her on that one) and that he cared for the Guardian deeply - on both sides of the mask. So, naturally, he was the obvious choice.
All the kwamis were intent on helping the Guardian, but when, during their brainstorming session, Xuppu made a comment that had Stompp retorting, the search for Chat Noir became competitive. They all already knew that Adrien Agreste was Chat Noir (Sass had slipped in out one time on accident), but the matter was getting him here.
Her ears and tail lowered as she heard another bout of coughing start up again. This was getting them nowhere. It didn’t matter whose idea was better, the Guardian needed him here now.
“I’m just going to Fetch him,” Barkk said, voice rising above the squabbling kwamis.
Despite the way his heart twisted with fear and his mind begged him to run, Adrien didn’t dare, knowing he could not express his anxiety under any circumstances. Since he was young, his father had told him that fear was a form of weakness, and if he ever let that guard down, he’d be brutally hurt.
Or worse, killed.
Adrien had abided by that rule all his life, like an iron fist that would strike down on him any time he shivered, stumbled, or cried. Hence, when his father had told him the Dark Lord ordered a visit during his Christmas holiday, Adrien had to prepare himself for it. No fear could be shown to the Dark Lord.
A lot of things have changed over the years but Marinette knowing how not to overwork herself is not one of them. Thankfully, she now has Adrien to help her.
Static sounded in Ladybug’s right ear, followed by her best friend’s voice. “Okay, Ladybug, I’m getting intel that the target is heading in your direction. Prepare to get into position.”
She thought she looked a little sad, honestly - standing in the rain, the hand that isn’t holding her yoyo clutching a freshly-picked red rose, so tightly that if it weren’t for her supersuit, she was sure that the thorns would have nicked her palm, spilling drizzles of crimson onto the storm-coloured rooftop.

It’s almost as if a spotlight had materialised around her, because she was all he could look at.
So, like any sane person would do, Adrien decided that he isn’t going to run his fingers through her hair. No, he’s just going to walk up to her and start a perfectly normal conversation as if he isn’t her superhero partner who also happens to be wildly in love with her.
For this year’s @bugheadsecretsanta, I was lucky enough to get one of our amazing admins on the @bugheadfamilydiscord,@tory-b! I have had such a blast writing Christmas fluff (I know, it’s a shock) and especially with a prompt including something so very important to my life.
Prompt: Betty and Jughead have a hard of hearing daughter named Virginia Jane who they help celebrate Christmas.
Betty stretched out on the bed in Kevin’s guest room, a smile plastered on her face as she remembered how the night before ended. Jughead had been a perfect gentleman - had even asked to kiss her before she lurched up to take matters into her own hands.
She’d felt like her entire body had exploded into hundreds of butterflies when their lips touched and it felt liberating to do the things she was always taught would send her straight into hellfire. Suddenly, Veronica came bursting into the room as Betty closed her antiquated flip phone from sending Jughead a good morning text.
“Excuse me, Miss Cooper! When were you going to tell us that you kissed that hunk of gorgeous man last night?”
“Listen, I–” he started, trying to think of the right words to say, “I don’t want you to look at me any differently than you did that first day in the park, before you knew I was famous.”
“I don’t, I promise,” she replied, taking a deep breath and reaching out to touch his arm lightly. “It’s just, I’ve never had anyone give me this type of attention before so I guess I’m just a little confused by it. It’s all very new for me, I’m not entirely sure how to take it.”
Betty chewed at the inside of her lip nervously, waiting for him to respond. He placed his hand over top of hers and stroked it with his thumb with a small smile on his face. His skin was warm against hers and she felt that familiar sensation that she’d experienced in her dreams again.
“Take it however you want to,” he replied. “But just know that it means that I really, really like you, Betty. I have for a while now.”
It had been two days since the incident and he was still trying to get over the discomfort he’d been feeling since she ran away from him. He had tried to go after her but between the hoard of fans and the speed at which she fled, Jughead had no way of keeping up with her. He cleared his throat and pushed the magazine back towards them.
“Oh. She’s– she’s just a girl I met at the park…” he trailed off when he saw the look on his sister’s face. She could always see through his bullshit attempts at lying (she called it their twin superpower) and she arched her brow at him expectantly.
“What, Jell? Really! I just–,” he paused and scratched the back of his neck nervously. “I literally ran into her at the park and we talked. I bought her lunch as an apology and things were just fine until the masses recognized me and swooped in on us.”
“You met some rando girl in the park and you just decided to take her to lunch?” she looked at him in confusion and continued, “And what do you mean you literally ran into her? Is that the line you’re going with? Since when does Forsythe Jones go around picking strange chicks up in parks?”
He lifted his beanie off of his head and ran his fingers through his hair before securing it back in place as he watched Betty roll up her yoga mat and secure it inside the giant tote bag he hadn’t noticed against the tree. Jughead waved his arm in a sweeping movement to have her lead the way. He tugged gently on Flapjack’s leash and he followed between them easily.
The entire scene felt so normal, which was strange in his line of work, but he liked it. It felt like it had been too long since he had the opportunity to simply be Jughead . He didn’t have to be ‘on’ right now - in entertainment mode, or on the defensive. He was just being himself.
It reminded him of college when his fame fizzled into the background and he was just like everyone else. He’d give anything to have that sense of normalcy again, but for now, he’d take these few minutes with a pretty girl.
Betty then dropped her knees and arms, so her chin was grazing the mat. She paused there for a minute, trying not to lose count of her breathing. She dropped into cobra before pushing herself back up, in one fell swoop, again into downward dog.
She stayed there longer this time, simply listening to the world around her while her eyes closed. As she opened them, ready to lunge herself forward, a little ginger cat ran between her arms and legs, startling her.
Before she could get herself upright, a small white and tan puppy came bounding behind the cat. The next thing Betty knew, she was turned over, flat on her back with more weight on her than she knew what to do with.
“Oh my God! I’m so sorry! Are you–?”
When she opened her eyes, she was met with a pair of the most beautiful blue eyes she’s ever seen. She blinked up at this mysterious man, her jaw slack.
“Beautiful,” Betty thought she heard him breathe out before catching himself, finally clambering to his feet and offering his hand to help her up.
