summary: With the arrival of their Hogwarts letter, it meant that the Malfoy twins were off to Diagon Alley. Asterope Malfoy, marred by an encounter with a werewolf, has been the shame of her family so a trip to Diagon Alley meant being left in the care of their Squib maid. However, she will soon find out that being left with the Squib maid meant she could get away with things that her parents would never let her do like befriending the Weasleys and getting a pet cat.

“Oh, I am,” Aurelia says, “I think Draco should be at Madam Maulkin’s right now, can we go there … I wanna rub it in his face that my wand is cooler than his is!”
“I don’t think he’s got his wand yet, wee moon,” Mae says.
“So, why would that stop me from bragging about my wand?”
“What if his wand ends up being cooler than yours?”
Aurelia snorts “As if… So, can we?!”

Neville inhales sharply, leaning forward and eyes fluttering shut, he wants to kiss her so badly. Aurelia smiles at the serene expression of Neville’s face before leaning in and kissing his nose then she quickly pulls away. Neville grins goofily, placing his hand over her bandaged hand and suddenly Aurelia’s eyes widen and she pulls away, jumping to her feet “Oh, shit!”

i finally got over my writer’s block for chapter 57 of make them gold and honestly it’s wild from start to finish and i love the chaos involved. also it’s where draco’s redemption starts, aurelia gets into a fist fight, and everything starts to fall apart for our dearly beloved, asterope.

Aurelia Black, had come out of the Triwizard Tournament a winner and survivor alongside the famed Harry Potter. Dealing with not only the loss of her dear friend but the return of Lord Voldemort as well, Aurelia is holding everything together with a piece of thread and it’s on the verge of snapping. She’s not sure just how much longer she’ll last but once she takes a look at the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, she knows it’ll take a miracle for her to make it to the end of the year. And if she’s not going to make it through this year, you bet, Aurelia will take that pink toad down with her.
Everything has changed, Aurelia has changed and she’s afraid that she’s too far gone at this point and once that thread snaps, it’ll be too late for her. And she supposes this is oddly fitting, considering her name and what it means — the sun-faced star, the golden one — perhaps Robert Frost was right when he wrote Nothing Gold Can Stay. The main book is called MAKE THEM GOLD it is set during Goblet of Fire, it’scompleted. Then there’s the direct sequel called NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY and that is almost completed but so far there’s only sixteen chapters published, the rest are in the drafts. There’s also a prequel that’s set in the same universe called WATCH ME WHILE I BLOOM but that’s on hold at the moment because of writer’s block.

… Aurelia goes back to her work only to be interrupted hardly ten minutes by none other than Neville, he gives her a sheepish look after poking her shoulder “Hey, Ari, can you help me with this, uh, question here?”
Nervously, Aurelia glances at Neville and the parchment in his hands. His round face is bright red and his hands are shaking, she nods her head “Aye, sure what is it?”
“Why are you ignoring me,” Neville says quickly, almost in one breath but he gives her a determined stare.
Aurelia blinks, smiling slightly “Wow that was — wow, well played, Plant Boy.”
Neville gulps but the sly smile on Aurelia face makes the bold question on the tip of his tongue easier to say “I think the, um, answer is supposed to be, uh, longer than that.”
Aurelia laughs, smiling widely, she gives him finger guns and wink “I’m sure you’re right, Plant Boy but Sinistra is staring at us and I’m sure she knows just as well as we do the answer isn’t one she wants discussed on her watch.”
“After class then,” Neville says, it’s not really a question, Aurelia can tell he wants answers and he deserves them but she can’t give him truthful ones.
“Aye, after class, Plant Boy.” Aurelia agrees, smiling fading as she instantly regrets saying yes to this. What if he knows, what if Lyra actually told him and he’s going to —
