⚫Dolia were large vases or vessels used in ancient Roman times for storage or transportation of goods.
⚫It was a very large jug or container made of fired clay.
⚫Oval in shape, with a wide mouth and rim, it had no neck or handles and, in many cases, could measure up to six feet in height.
⚫Some dolia have a rounded body tapering into a flat bottom, while more frequently, dolia maintained a rounded bottom.
⚫They were lined with pitch or wax in order to contain or process liquids and solid foods.
Dolia were also used in a thermopolium (plural thermopolia), a place where it was possible to purchase ready-to-eat food.
⚫Thermopolia being the forerunners of today’s restaurant, the items served are sometimes compared to modern fast food.

gwebarchaeology:

A pre-Viking woolen tunic found beside a thawing glacier in south Norway shows how global warming is proving something of a boon for archaeology

The greenish-brown, loose-fitting outer clothing - suitable for a person up to about 176 cms (5 ft 9 inches) tall - was found 2,000 meters (6,560 ft) above sea level on what may have been a Roman-era trade route in south Norway.

Carbon dating showed it was made around 300 AD.

A Viking mitten dating from 800 AD and an ornate walking stick, a Bronze age leather shoe, ancient bows, and arrow heads used to hunt reindeer are also among 1,600 finds in Norway’s southern mountains since [global warming] thaws accelerated in 2006.

The archaeologists said the tunic showed that Norway’s Lendbreen glacier, where it was found, had not been so small since 300 AD. When exposed to air, untreated ancient fabrics can disintegrate in weeks because of insect and bacteria attacks.

I’m jumping on Keenan’s modern AU :D

So let’s have a little bit of this sweet archaeologist boi. Well, I promise he’s still sweet. Just don’t use certain movie references to address his profession (although I think he still looks cute when he’s angry)
