Like the mini skirt, bell bottom jeans were a pinnacle of 1960’s fashion. Derived from early 19th century U.S. Navy uniforms, bell bottoms became one of the most famed pieces in hippie fashion. In the 70’s, Sonny and Cher popularized the pants on their television show.  The bottoms were made of a wide range of materials, but mostly denim, cotton, or polyester. Made in all types of colorful prints, the pants surely made their mark on fashion history.
