“A light in the dark” - Dragon Age Fanart, inspired by the novel “Asunder” written by David Gaider.

Clean drawing for “A light in the dark”, a scene from the DragonAge novel “Asunder”, written by David Gaider. Let’s see who remembers that moment. :)

Finished illustration of “Rhys”, a character from the Dragon Age novel “Asunder”, written by
David Gaider.

Originally, I just wanted to do a quick design on a character I needed for some personal illustrations. But it turned out, I didn’t only had to design the character, but the destinct robes of a circle mage of Orlais.

Which was less about his character, but more about his origin and the culture that surrounds him.
Hope I made the balancing act between ostentatious Orlais and a chantry institution.

You can find my less shiny design process and thoughts behind this at my Arstation.

Clean Sketch for “Rhys”, a character from the Dragon Age novel “Asunder” written by @davidgaider.

Originally, I planed to just quickly design the character to paint an illustration that would fit more of his personal characteristics, but than realized that he should be wearing a circle robe of an orlesian circle of magi.

So it had to be kind of simple, to say “circle”, but on the other hand it must also say “orlesian”, which is the total opposite, opulent and kind of fancy.

Finally it went a bit more work into that, than anticipated.

Finally managed to get them all together. All of my DragonAge Characters, together with their darlings ❤️
Used these as a warmup each day. Note that I don’t draw these in 15mins or so. I’m still only a mortal Just a bit of it each day, to get going and keep that knife sharp.
