Army
The Army defends the land mass of the U.S., its territories, commonwealths, and possessions. It does so through providing forces and capabilities for sustained combat and stability operations on land. The Army also provides logistics and support to other branches. The Army is the largest and oldest branch of the military.

Navy
The Navy maintains, trains, and equips combat-ready maritime forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression, and maintaining freedom of the seas. The Navy is America’s forward deployed force and is a major deterrent to aggression around the world.

Air Force
The Air Force provides a rapid, flexible, and when necessary, lethal air and space capability that can deliver forces anywhere in the world in less than forty-eight hours. It routinely participates in peacekeeping, humanitarian, and aeromedical evacuation missions. Air Force crews annually fly missions into all but five nations of the world.

Marine Corps
The Marine Corps maintains ready expeditionary forces, sea-based and integrated air-ground units for contingency and combat operations, and the means to stabilize or contain international disturbance. The Marine Corps is an immediate response force that can be used to overwhelm the enemy.

Coast Guard
The Coast Guard provides law and maritime safety enforcement, marine and environmental protection, and military naval support. Activities can include patrolling our shores, performing emergency rescue operations, containing and cleaning up oil spills, and keeping illegal drugs from entering American communities.

Republic of China Air Force Cadets, on their way the USA for training, compare instruments with American Coast Guardsmen. They are aboard a US Coast Guard manned transport off the coast of India.

Coast Guard Combat Artist Joseph DiGemma has his violin while two of the cadets hold the Chinese instrument Hu-chin (also have seen spelled Hu-ching). Seaman First Class Arthur Witt is the other Coast Guardsman while the Chinese cadets are unidentified.

Ok, so SpaceXandElon Musk launched Tesla Roadster into space. What a time to be alive, but imagine what can happen years into the future. Here’s my little tribute to that successful Falcon Heavy demo flight :)

Seen here is an 1870 survey of the Lazaretto Point Light Station, which once located in Baltimore Harbor. The light station got its name from the smallpox quarantine hospital that was originally located at the site. The light was constructed in 1831 and by 1863 a depot was established around the tower in order to facilitate the construction and resupply the other lighthouses throughout the bay. Many sections of various lighthouses were manufactured at the depot in preparation for their erection elsewhere. When iron began to be mined at the location, many industrial sites were established, causing people to complain about the light being obscured. In 1914 the light was electrified, however it continued to become difficult to see. The depot diminished in use and by 1958 the depot was shut down and replaced by the Rukert Marine Terminal berth. A replica of the original tower was erected in 1985 by the Rukert Terminal Corporation in honor of Norman Rukert, Sr. The accurate construction of the tower was made possible by original blueprints found in the National Archives.

I need help, y’all…

I’m doing a little research for a story idea.

I need information about the five U.S. military branches (how someone joins, different jobs one may have, basic operations, compare/contrast with other branches, etc.)

But every site I’ve found has been nothing but propaganda stating which branch I should join and how to do so!

It’s gotten so bad, ads on my other apps have been nothing but recruiters!

All I want is straight information, without the sugar coating.

Anyone can help?
