Forged copper arm torc. I just love the magical warm glow of forged copper. This was forged to shape and detail stamped using chisels, no dremel. I prefer the look of stamped in runes to rotary carvings. . There was very minimal grinding - just a lite grit to soften some of the edges and a quick run on the buffing wheel to get some of the high spots to pop. . My favorite thing about this one might just be the triangle stamping along the outer edge. If you look carefully you can see where it subtly pushed out the edges in little bulges. They were then cleaned up with the flat side of a small ball pein hammer. . I finally finished my secret copper shirt project I’ve been working on for months! I made this shimmery magical beauty from pure copper wire. 15 pounds of copper that I wrapped into coils and then saw cut into 15,440 links! I assembled it all one link at a time with my trusty pliers and time machine! I’ve used all my little fitting tricks in this one: I used a standard Euro 4-in-1 pattern and cheated in extra rows under the arms on each side to create breathing room for the rib cage. I spliced the sleeves on on the bias to make them fit right on the shoulders. I even stepped up the wire gauge for the neck so that it has a nice sturdy 16 gauge set of three rows as the collar. The rest of the shirt is 18 gauge wire. It was a joy to make this one of a kind piece! Now I’m on to the next wild project! What’s your idea I can make a reality?
I made this amazing meditation blanket for one of my favorite customers. It’s a flowing mountain of pure Copper. I made, saw cut, and hand assembled all 11,742 links! It is 29”x19” and it feels SO COOL! It has the magic within it, trust me I’m a wizard ♂️
Here’s a wild one I just finished! It’s a solid copper 4-in-1 t-shirt I made for a very cool electrician. To make it, I used scraps of 4/0 copper wire (19 strands of 12 gauge in each) that he provided! The process was like this. I un-spiraled the wire strands, wrapped each around a 1/2” diameter rod, cut the links by hand from that coil, and then assembled all 4,000+ links. This beast weighs about 28 pounds!
Blake Lively’s dress is an homage to New York City and the Statue of Liberty.
The draping represents the Statue of Liberty and the transition is a reference to the oxidation of the statue. The skirt is embroidered with the signs of the zodiac as an homage to the celestial painted ceiling of Grand Central Station. The bodice of her gown is a nod to the architecture of NYC, in particular, the Empire State Building. Her crown has seven tiers and 25 stones like Statue Liberty’s crown has seven rays and 25 windows.
This hand mirror and brush set is in the Art Nouveau/Art Deco style and was probably made around the 1950s. Soft pink guilloche, art deco design in enamel on the back, copper metal handles and real bristles.
In great vintage condition, the mirror is undamaged although there are some aging signs where the handle meets the head on the back.
TIARA ALERT: Blake Lively wore a paraiba tourmaline, diamond, and copper tiara by Lorraine Schwartz for the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on 2 May 2022.
I was hoping Lorraine Schwartz would put out a photo of the tiara but no luck yet. It’s a really interesting piece made from copper that has been partially oxidized. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a copper tiara before. The gemstones are paraiba tourmalines and light brown diamonds. The diamonds almost have a pinkish tint but that could be the color reflecting off the copper. It’s inspired by the State of Liberty so the tiara has seven spikes and twenty five gemstones to represent the windows.
