Cove watches as Jamie hops across the sidewalk with a look of concentration on their face and frowns to himself when he doesn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. “What are you doing?” he asks.
Startled, Jamie loses their balance and does a little wiggle as they try to find steady feet. “I can’t touch the cracks!”
“What? Why?” Cove asks, even more confused than before by the look of fear that crosses Jamie’s face.
“Lizzie said if you step on a crack, you break your mother’s back,” Jamie whispers, eyes widening as they look down.
Cove also looks down to see his feet firmly stepping on a crack in the sidewalk and instantly tears burn his eyes. “Jamie…” his voice wavers as he looks up at his friend.
“I-I’m sure she’s fine!” Jamie panics as Cove begins to cry, and Jamie rushes him into their house to have their moms call just to make sure.

I’ve been having a lot of fun playing through Our Life: Beginnings & Always. I was playing on android but I couldn’t get the wedding DLC to work so I caved in and am now playing it on my old surface after pigging out on all the other DLCs lol. Cove is such a cutie tho, so I don’t regret anything. :>
Some of my favourite moments from each of the steps in this beautifully written story. Hard to pick one, there’s so many sweet moments, other characters included, but I will always be biased towards the romance. Just can’t help myself. It is just a little, very unfinished preview of something I’d want to finish someday. I really want to do a proper tribute piece, this game is made of pure, genuine love, and I am so thankful I got to experience it. I seriously cannot praise it enough.
I’ve never fully watched Steven Universe but I’m very familiar with some moments in the show, and I suddenly got hit with the need to try this style. Borrowed Cove and my MC ‘Annie’ from Our life, and the scene from the episode “Alone Together”!
Too many thoughts about “Our Life: Beginnings & Always”. 10/10 would relive a childhood where I sneak out with the neighbor to go play on the beach before summer ends.
