Another OC for a Mixels contest! This time, the theme was “desert”, and when I had this idea, I ran with it!

Bovhideis a Spikel. While you’d think this means he’s ultra cuddly with strong defenses, that’s not entirely accurate for him. He’s a little smaller than Scorpi, and some how is even more skittish than the Spikel leader. Luckily for himself, he found a Cowvine skull in the Spiky Desert, there’s tons randomly just lying around if you go deep enough! Now, he has a little bit of protective armor to shield himself. And, if he tucks himself up inside his body, he looks only like the skull, the perfect disguise!

Sorry for the inactivity!! Here’s a little screencap from a class project. I worked with a few people to make the Camaro model, but besides that everything else was created by me! I reused the dunes and cow carcass from an old project of mine.
I’ll post more screencaps when its done rendering. It’ll probably be up on my Vimeo too if anyone wants to see it fully. I never really post my 3D stuff even though it’s a part of my major, so I thought I would change that!! Lol, let me know what you guys think. :)

I did some housekeeping over at the Foxshop Etsy. If you’re interested in my art, now would be a good time to buy. I combined several pieces into bulk listings. Consider it a FIRE… sale. Making room for newer items, coming soon.

After a very inspirational long-weekend in and around Austin, TX, I’m feeling creatively anxious. I want to expand my work a bit, possibly into print (t-shirts, buttons, stickers). I’m not sure Etsy will ultimately be the place for it.

Stay tuned. I’ve got a lot of adventure photos to share from my trip, plus plenty of art to explore.

Being productive! A rabbit to accompany my jumping fox piece, plus a bunch of requests started.

I’m slowly collecting feathers, beads, and string for my dreamcatchers. Just need to soak and round out some sticks to get started.

Added color to these suckers last night. The cow skull somehow got crud on it from my other pieces, so I’ll try to clean that up. Pouncing fox will likely go on Etsy as a set with another animal. Maybe a rabbit? It’s 4" by 6", so hey, it might even fit a frame! (My art is usually weird sizes, sorry)

No new art tonight, as I’ve been doing three separate design projects for friends and clubs. It’s hard being at my computer for 12+ hours a day, but that’s the deal if I want to flex my graphic/web design muscles while maintaining my 9-6 job.

If anything, a brief break in creating traditional art will let my imagination build up some new ideas. I’ve already got a few in-progress things I haven’t shared, so more art is definitely on the way.

Here’s what I worked on this evening:

Cow Skull & Elephant - mounted and ready to go to their new home.

Blue Balloon - I’ve got a plan for this one. Work in progress.

Whimsy Knox - So I wanted to paint Knox, but blue. Ok?

Little Feathers - Just playing around with watercolors.

Desert on Stone - Testing out markets on a stone slab. I dig the effect, but haven’t perfected yet.

Feather on Stone - Again, more practice with markers on stone. I sort of like this one.

Here’s some of tonight’s in-progress pieces and ideas.

I’ve always been quick to complete drawings and paintings, but I have a bad habit of trashing 99% of my work.

I tend to be extremely OCD when it comes to anything I create, which has lead me to abandon most of my artistic endeavors.

Since this project was born out of the need to relieve stress and depression, I’m making it a goal to share almost everything. Even stuff I’m not totally happy with – which is usually everything once I stare at it long enough!

I’m my own worst critic, but hopefully it will help me to improve.
