Hello vulture community!

Recently, I have been cleaning skulls for some friends and I am having a difficult time figuring out the best way to degrease this skull:

The nose area has quite a bit of grease on the bone and I’m not sure what the best method would be to remove it. The rest of the skull is fine, it’s just that one stubborn spot.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to remove the grease I would be very appreciative! Thank you!!

some photos of chandler, the lastest whitetail deer ive found as roadkill. hes got a peculiar white stripe on each of his hooves ive never seen before. his winter coat is also so soft and gorgeous. ill do my best to honor every part of him i can. ☘

Got this guy today hoping I could find his other antler. I was unable to locate it and upon further inspection of him, his skull was very broken! I just cut his antler off after that.

Another roadkill fatality but I was too late getting to him to save his meat!

Spent all summer cleaning this deer skull, there are still blobs of stubborn grease but I don’t have a set up that’ll work through the cold temps, so we’ll have to wait to address those. Regardless, all the teeth stayed, and I’m really happy with that!

I have a tiny 1 bedroom apartment and the only permanent altar I have is a devotional on top of a drawer, so any divination or spellcraft gets done on my portable altar.

this is just a cheapo folding lap desk from Target for like 25$, it even has USB ports if you have electric wax warmers or if you like to use LED lights on your altar. useful for the spacially limited witch, or even a broom closet witch ♡

all the bones & teeth are ethically sourced (aka I found them in the woods) and the herb bundles all came from my garden (rosemary, juniper, mint).

This design is now done… Those are supposed to be salt crystals covering one half as it’s a deer skull (sort of) and deer like salt

I LOVE this partial buck skull my dad found when he came over to go creeking with me this week! He found all of the best stuff that day, haha! But look at how worn and tumbled this beauty is—bet he’s been rolling around in the creek for many, many years. I’ve never seen antlers worn so smooth except in fossilized specimens. So neat!! Can’t wait to get him cleaned up!

Didn’t think I’d be able to get him this white! Poor old guy was super stained from who knows how many years tumbling around in the creek.

He was also one of the worst smelling skulls I’ve ever cleaned—and trust me, that’s saying something! Smelled like the bottom of a prehistoric pond full of dung and dead things, haha.
