A couple of weeks ago I received a £100 donation via bank transfer, and I’ve been trying to work out how to get Crowdfunder to show that but today I gave up and adjusted the goal down from £1,300 to £1,200 instead. Which means the dashboard now looks like this:
Only £30 and 3 days to go - and if we hit the goal I’ll write up and publish the UK results report.
I’m so excited that 63 people love the Gender Census enough to put Real Money down for it.
Nice one! ✨ Thank you so much everyone! Anything extra will probably help cover Crowdfunder fees, and anything over that will go towards survey-related costs (hosting, software, domain, stuff like that).

I was away over the weekend, and yesterday I noticed that the funding had gone into my bank account but I’d just gotten home and I was recovering from being away, so today (just now!) I ordered the new laptop AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
So what with some nice people sending me money outside of Crowdfunder, and fees, and me getting the price of the laptop wrong (because I didn’t clock the “from” in “from £1,249.99” and the more powerful one was £1,449.00), here’s how it went:
Raised through Crowdfunder: £1,430.00
Sent elsewise: £100.00
Total: £1,530.00
And then:
Crowdfunder fees: £63.83
Amount received after fees deducted and donations outside of Crowdfunder added: £1,466.17
Cost of [more powerful] laptop: £1,449.00
Remaining: £17.17
I feel like a doofus for not triple-checking the laptop price, I’ve made this mistake on crowdfunders before (like, not realising that I needed to add 20% to the survey software price for the VAT), and I probably will again, ugh. :D But thankfully all costs are covered and my laptop is due to arrive 15-20th October, in 10-15 days!
It’s all very exciting, I’m really looking forward to my laptop not randomly turning itself off when I open it in the morning!
So much gratitude to everyone - looking forward to getting the UK results report made!

It’s here!!
The new laptop is here and it’s very swish. I’m enjoying the bigger screen and the nice dark grey and everything happening when I click/press, instead of 0.8-45 seconds later! Thank you everyone!

There are 19 days to go, and the project is 72% funded - about £350 remaining!
A big thank you to everyone who has donated, it’s kind of amazing to be so close to the target (£1,300) considering how little promotion I’ve done - this week has been very intense, for various unrelated reasons!
Also a big thank you to everyone who’s spread the word here on Tumblr, and also Twitter. When you want to help and you’re not sure how, sharing the link with people who might be interested is always a good bet!
I forgot to mention the perk in the original post: if this laptop gets fully funded, I intend to process and write up the UK results. I wasn’t sure whether I would have the energy to do that this year, but I want to give something back, and up-to-date information for one country where the landscape of trans issues is changing so quickly seems like a good way to do that!

Hi all! I recently launched the fundraiser for my second short film, May Be Unholy.
This dramedy is about an atheist who’s briefly convinced that witches (and divinity) are real, all because of a prank gone wrong.
I’m making May Be Unholy for many reasons. I’m largely inspired by my own relationship with divinity and how that has changed throughout my life, having been raised quite religious and then learning to redefine that relationship as I got older. Two, I absolutely love witch lore and am inspired to learn more about it, especially the historical and psychological parallels of “witch hysteria.” Three, I just want to see more films where women and non-binary folks can be chaotic and fun and imperfect. I feel strongly about comedy and spectacle being a universal experience for everyone.

Lùmina is a bright, colorful italian graphic novel project by Emanuele Tenderini andLinda Cavallini, authors of many titles previously published by names such as Sergio Bonelli, Delcourt, Ankama, Mondadori, Hachette, Les Humanoïdes associés, DeAgostini, Panini.
The book’s genre is in between sci-fi and fantasy, mainly inspired by Miyazaki, who you’ll certainly recognize in the vast landscapes and open spaces. Wonderful creatures and charismatic characters will be involved in one of the most amazing adventures ever told in a graphic novel.
The plot unveils around the story of two children, Kite and Miriam, brother and sister, who find themselves thrown in a parallel world calledLùmina.
This will be one of the first comic books in the world to be coloured with the hyperflattechnique (link) and printed using hexachrome, a six-color printing process (link).
The book will be available in Italian, English and French.
We decided to bring this project to life through the crowdfunding community, as we believe that the straight connection between the authors and the readers is the strongest factor during the publishing process.
Plus, we are sure that the only way the comics world can be brought to a higher level is through the support of its ultimate investors - the readers.
These are the final five days of my 90% funded Kickstarter to expand my Sassy Kitty Pins line of products in 2018, and the big item on this is the CMYKitty Purse and Coinbag! I also offer all my enamel pins, stickers, patches, and added keychains, lanyards, luggage tags, t-shirts and tote bags… all the new merch for 2018!
So this is my current situation. I go in for surgery tomorrow morning (5 May 2022) for the orthopedic specialists to try to add pins, screws, plates, silverware, glassware, maybe a kitchen sink, etc. to try to keep my ankle rather ankle-shaped.
I registered for the surgery online. You have to make some sort of payment prior to treatment if it’s been scheduled like this, and this is what popped up:
Not that this is just the cost of the surgery.
It does not include the ten hours in the ER, will not include any medications, or follow up appointments, or therapies, or mobility aids, or anything else of that nature. I’m also expecting to be out of work for at least 6 more weeks… after missing this whole week.
I set up a gofundme to get some help. More of the “how it happened” is available through the link. The goal for the crowdfunding is only enough to cover the surgery and (approximately) the time off work.
I would really appreciate any help y’all can give - even if it’s only spreading the word around.
