This rant of mine came up in my fb memories today from two years ago and I wanted to share it with y’all.

“Re: Terfs.
Are we really gonna allow Terfs to frame the conversation about bathrooms, and competing in athletics, and trans people having so-called privilege when they were kids and presumed cis ? Is that the conversation we’re having? I don’t fucking care about what bathrooms trans people use, or whether or not they beat cis people in running/races, or if they may have had male privilege when they were kids. Don’t care. Not fucking interested in that ridiculous debate. What I care about is the high murder rate of trans people, especially trans people of colour. The systemic discrimination that makes it difficult and sometimes impossible for trans people to find jobs and housing. I give a shit about the abandonment from their families and how that can lead to them being homeless. I give a shit about what all that stress can do their mental fucking health. I care about them not getting access to the medical care that they may need because some doctors are gatekeepers (and also in the US where healthcare is ultimately a privilege and not a right). I don’t have exact numbers or anything but I know trans people face enormous marginalization that cis people can’t even imagine.
Spare me the “But transwomen have a hormonal/physical advantages to cis women when it comes to sports/athletics” bullshit. Trans people are fucking dying. Don’t allow terfs to frame the conversation. Terfs have whacked priorities.”

My friend commented mentioning the high rate of suicide as well, which is a good point. Y’all, we can’t let terfs frame this conversation. We need to shut that shit down..
