Hey there,

We’ve got news. We’re introducing a new blog view experience for bluespace (dashboard, search, and explore) on web, and we’ll be rolling it out to you soon. You may have seen a sneak peek of it on @changes last week.

What’s changing, exactly?

Before, when you clicked on a blog in your dashboard, explore, or search, it opened up this drawer on the right-hand side of your screen. This didn’t work very well for smaller or wider screens, or indeed on mobile browsers:

With the new viewing experience, blogs will now unfurl in the center of your screen—giving you more space to scroll through their content (while still keeping your scroll position on the dashboard as before):

Why have we done this? What does this mean?

  • These changes address a common complaint: the current sidebar blog view doesn’t utilize the overall space very well. It’s 2022, after all; screens are bigger these days.
  • If you have asks open, the ask button (with its customized text, if you’ve customized it) will appear directly in your header, instead of hidden in a menu as it was before.
  • Extending the width of this blog view affords us the ability to add more stuff, like a sidebar—and maybe some more customizable elements!
  • Might this galvanize you to change things up and update your default blog appearance for something custom? Perhaps. After all, a bold, vibrant, and creative Tumblr is a Tumblr at its best.

What about your blog’s current customized appearance, you ask?

Don’t worry—we understand the time and love you invest in your blogs, and this change does not impact any custom blog themes. This change simply improves how your blog will appear when others view it from the dashboard, search, or explore.

Cali gym milf sent me this!

My tumblr dashboard is such a mess.

No wonder I throw my hands up in the air every couple of years and start a new one.

I don’t even know how to describe ¾ths of the things I am seeing.

FUcking, okay, TUMBLR! I guess you win! Guess I can’t have a GODDAMN BACKGROUND or any of my tools! Good for fucking you, you piece of shit bitch site!

I don’t know how to fix this one. I cannot help. They forced this on us with no warning, everyone hates it, it breaks xkit, its stupid and garbage and I have no fucking idea what to do about it, just sit back and wait for neoxkit to fucking save us I guess.

Good News: they only completely broke the fucking dashboard

Bad News: they completely broke the fucking dashboard

Ah, so the dashboard completely fucking disappearing is a new “feature” then…

And here I thought I fucked something up with one of my FF extensions again.
(Xkit has been choppy at best on my end for weeks now. :V)

With Tumblr’s new dashboard layout, a couple of things appear to be missing from the Tumblr sidebar. These are not Missing e changes. I may look into ways to improve it, but I will likely wait to see if Tumblr is going to fix the issues on their own or if it indicates more changes they will be making.

The“Customize” button is missing in the blog sidebar.

Again, this is not due to Missing e. However, if you go to your own themed blog URL, you will find a “Customize” button with the Tumblr-related buttons in the top corner of the page (for most themes). You can also find the “Customize” button in the settings page for your blog (go to your Tumblr settings, then click on your blog on the left sidebar).

The“Mass Post Editor” button is missing in the blog sidebar.

Another change that is not due to Missing e. In the meantime, you can go directly to your blog’s Mass Post Editor by entering the URL: http://www.tumblr.com/mega-editor/your-username (change “your-username” to your actual Tumblr username).

In the last hour, Tumblr pushed out a new dashboard layout.

Some improvements include restoring a (partial) Tumblr blog sidebar element to the main dashboard.

I will be working this weekend to apply style fixes for Missing e and look into any possible improvements.

Please note that I am already hard at work on these issues:

  • TheQuick Reblog drop-down menu doesn’t show a selection menu for side blogs
  • You may not be able to reblog yourself to the same blog as the original post
  • Mass Delete buttons don’t show up correctly in the Inbox

If you notice any additional functional issues (a broken Missing e feature), please let me know here.

are the photoset dash dimensions still 540 / 268, 268 / 177, 178, 177 or did this change sometime this year ? I feel like some of my stuff looks weirdly stretched.
