Sweet Stranger and Me (2016) Whump List

16 Episodes - Watch on Viki

Whumpee: Go Nan Gil played by Kim Young-kwang

Go Nan Gil deals with extreme guilt about something he did in his sketchy past. That seems to be the cause of his episodes which he says are not a health condition but are more like panic attacks. He starts getting better towards the end. **Note: the romance storyline is weird and I personally just watched for the whump.

“Don’t fall now, love.” Whumper whispered, spinning Whumpee out for the tenth time in rapid succession. “We wouldn’t want to fail to keep up pretenses.”

“Please—” Whumpee breathed, stumbling as Whumper jerked them back. “Please, Whumper, I-I’m dizzy—”

“Aw, but we’ve only just begun, sweet. Do try and keep your feet under you— and out—” Whumper spun them out again.

Some good things about injury-based whump

  • Injuries that are so overwhelming the person can’t focus (esp in a still dangerous situation)
  • Injuries so painful/severe they cause fainting
  • Injuries so painful the person pukes
  • Dizziness/weakness from blood loss
  • Fresh injuries that keep getting aggravated too much to heal
  • Old injuries that start acting up
  • Injuries that looked to be healing but then got infected
  • Setting/resetting broken bones (especially in a makeshift setting without proper medical supplies or personnel)
  • Deep bruises that ache to the touch and take weeks to heal
  • Broken ribs that make it hurt to breathe, especially while you’re running away from danger
  • Trying to “power through” the pain, only to end up making the injury worse
  • Someone hurt struggling to take care of someone more hurt
  • Tasting blood and hoping it’s from a bitten lip and not a lacerated organ
  • A character concealing an injury they don’t think is that serious until they collapse because it actually is
  • Lingering weakness or pain even after the main period of recovery
  • Even better, lingering fear of whatever caused the injury

notfeelingsowell:

  • pressing a hand to their forehead to check if they have a temperature
  • pressing the back of their fingers to their cheek to check if they have a temperature
  • cuddles + hair stroking
  • even though it’s technically not a scientifically sound thing, characters getting sick from not wearing enough layers or getting caught in the rain
  • along those lines, one of the character’s who’s soaked through or shivering starts to sneeze a couple times, and their s/o just panicking a little and starting to fuss over them, wrapping them up in blankets and sitting them down in front of the fire and monitoring them to see if they’re symptoms get worse
  • the character being so sick and out of it that they can’t walk by themselves, and they have to be supported or carried
  • the character just looking like the poster of a sick person - pale face, flushed cheeks, bags under their eyes, blankets wrapped up to their neck, and a thermometer under their tongue
  • the sickie insisting that their s/o goes to work but the s/o refuses to leave their side
  • anxious hovering caretakers
  • the sickie having a coughing fit so hard that they sway and almost fall over and their friend/family member/partner has to steady them
  • the sickie waking up from a feverish sleep, expecting their s/o to be gone, only to find them asleep on a chair at their bedside
