Send me anonymously a song you think matches my vibe

Hello all,

Just stumbled upon this movement by Honey Nut Cheerios (yum) that is spreading the word about the bee population dying out…and they are even offering free seeds to plant bee friendly wildflowers.

Check it out!!!

hi. if you’re a young person or teenager who happens to be following me: write it down! keep a secret diary, a notepad, a blog your parents don’t have access to. write it down. keep a record somehow.

when i was a little kid and both my dad & i were being actively abused by my mom, he was familiar enough w her gaslighting that he instructed me at elementary school age to write down all the horrible things she did/said to me. it would be useful in court when custody was being argued and it would be useful to ME, years later, when my mom would try and convince me none of it happened. i had the proof, often word for word, that it did–and there was no hope in convincing my mom but a lot of hope in convincing myself and holding my stance against her. it was pivotal to advocating for myself and my feelings and eventually leaving her in my dust!

write it down!!! it’s so frustrating to have to deal with this bullshit, whether your parents are outright abusive or just fucking toxic/dysfunctional assholes. but you can do something for yourself and your mental health and that something is writing it down.

Every artist who sees this post should do the following:

- Watch the video.

- Follow the instructions

- Reblog

I can’t stress you enough about how important these exercises are for your drawing hand. You don’t wanna get CTS of Tendonitis and similar stuff that will prevent you from making art or even hold  a pencil.

Okay, this guy is my fucking HERO. I just did these exercises as I watched the video, and already my arms and hands feel better. I have a degenerative tendon disease that prevents my muscles, tendons and ligaments from retaining their elasticity, and so anything that maintains the health of my bendy parts is important.

I URGE YOU. Even if you don’t draw, do these several times a day. Even just sitting at a computer can do serious damage. My dad, who was a rugby player, a carpenter, and now a handyman, suffered from severe carpal tunnel syndrome, simply as a result of sitting at the computer at the end of the day to play a little solitaire. Don’t let it happen to you!

((Guys, I will reblog this like, 5 times a day just so you all will see this. This is REALLY helpful, and it’s quick and easy.))

Wow, these are REALLY helpful. And yes, this is not just good but IMPORTANT for more than artists – if you type a lot, play a lot of video games, do anything that requires lots of repetitive movements of your hands, wrists, and arms (gardening, sewing, factory work), these can help. Even if you don’t yet get pain these are a great preventative measure, because the damage builds up over time. Youth is no protection.

And like he says, you should feel a stretch, but don’t push it too far!

What’s this?

The Star Trek Femships 5K is a new challenge I just came up with this second for people who want to write Star Trek femslash and/or female friendship fic and who also like structure and goals!

Tell me more…

To participate, you claim any pairing of Trek women that hasn’t already been claimed. And then you just… write 5000 words of fic about them interacting in whatever way you like best. This can be one big 5000-word fic, five 1000-word fics, 50 drabbles, whatever you like! Once you’ve written and posted your 5000, you can claim another pairing if you like, and the pairing you claimed becomes free again for another person to claim.

Is there a deadline?

Nope! This is a rolling challenge.

How do I make a claim and see what’s already been claimed and written?

By looking in the handy-dandy masterpost.

Where can I post my fic?

In the AO3 collection, or in the #trekfemships5k tag. If you let me know about it and list all the works for the pairing in one place, I’ll put it in the masterpost too!

What if I want to participate but I can’t decide what to write about?

Check out the prompts post for ideas!

What if I have a question that’s not covered here?

Ask me and I’ll answer it, and then add it to this post for other people to see too.

“Write what you know” isn’t an excuse to only write what you’re comfortable with. It’s an invitation to learn about different things so you can write more diversely.

what am I talking about?

**update: thanks to your generous donations, we have so far raised $260 for these worthy causes… you guys are amazing! Let’s see how much more we can raise by 31 January.**

So, special announcement: two other fanfic writers have generously volunteered to write fic* for the meat raffle, so that anyone donating to Wildlife Rescue or the Red Cross for Australian bushfire victims, or to the AO3, now has not one, but three chances of winning a fic!

I’d like to extend a huge thankyou to Mary S, aka duffydog, and KatLady, for offering their time and talents.

and if anyone else would like to put their hand up and offer fanfic for charity, please get in touch with me.

* the authors have some stipulations about what they will/won’t write, so again, any questions please PM me or email me.
