Merfolk researcher Harry Potter has been looking for signs of merfolk along the coast, and a very handsome merman has been watching him from afar. (A short, silent comic with Little Mermaid vibes.)
In the sanctuary’s high light he stood, with plaster-smudged fingers and brush in hand, and glazed the wall gold. And I watched him painting from between the pews, his lips parted in concentration, and his arms corded in muscle. And I wondered if he touched me, this young god before me, what would happen?
Harry turns. Malfoy leans against the doorway to the back garden under the halo of a gaslamp dangling overhead. The warm glow of the flame casts him in a golden light, and he’s framed on either side by trailing grapevines cascading over the garden walls. So soft, Harry thinks, where the Malfoy in his mind once seemed so sharp.
It took three days before the first hints were on the news, and a week before Harry spotted the first Infected on his own street. A month until there was no chance of stopping the panic, and six weeks until the government and Ministry fell. Then the TV stopped airing anything but a standby with the message ‘Stay safe’, and the world as he’d known it ended forever.
Ten weeks later he got an answer from Hermione. “It spread. There’s no way back. We love you, Harry. Take care.”
Harry Potter owns a pub and hasn’t thought about Draco Malfoy, who hasn’t been seen in the magical world in the past nine years, once. Two-thirds of that sentence are true. Harry is content with his life. Really, he is. Sure, the life of an ex-professional athlete is a bit slow, but that’s what he’d wanted when he retired from Quidditch to run his own bakery. Now, he gets to spend his days doing something that he loves in the company of his family and friends. He’s fine to let one day bleed placidly into the next, until Draco Malfoy turns up at his bakery, causes a scene about his pastries, and is maybe, probably, definitely up to something.
This is a story about two people boldly chasing their happiness in spite of their fears, overcoming the chokehold of a difficult past, and learning how to communicate by whatever means necessary, be it rhymes or recipes.
Harry is happy. He has his cat cafe and his hobbies. He has his friends, and Dolly Parton, and a shirt with a cowboy frog on it. It’s all a man needs, really.
He doesn’t need to obsess over a magic-less, anxious Draco Malfoy coming into his cafe after disappearing from the wizarding world years ago. He doesn’t. Not even if the cats like Malfoy. Not even if Malfoy is soft, and funny, and a little bit neurotic. No matter how much he wants to obsess.
When this season’s purple courgettes are woefully thin, Draco Malfoy thinks it amounts to small beans. Next thing he knows, the Department of Standards is over-run with leeks, Brussels sprouts all sorts of legislative difficulties, and somebody appears to have put a roquette under Harry Potter. Can Draco seize a marrow victory? Or will his plans for peas be squashed?
All along, Kingsley Shacklebolt finds himself pining for the good old days, when, instead of governing, all you had to worry about were Dark Lords and imminent death.

I HAVE NO CHILL WHATSOEVER (insertLMM’s gif). So when @m0srael asked if I could design a lavender and gold “dating app called Allure that Fleur designed for creatures-seeking-creatures” (which is like… the best idea ever???), I pretty much lost my mind, jumped in, started looking for mockups & AI art & marketing material, and thought about nothing else for half a month.
This is what I came up with! There was the issue of making sure Harry and Draco wouldn’t recognise each other, which somehow lined up with both my current wombo art obsession and the fact that, technically, an app can have photo filters to hide one’s face and make the experience more anonymous (why is this not a feature on RL dating apps? Asking for a friend).
