-> When an ornithopter crashes in Fremen territory, you feel compelled to nurse the handsome stranger you find inside back to health.

TW/CW: mentions of death. detailed injury, angst, oral (f receiving), p in v sex. Not beta read.

The figure that occupies the head of your dinner table, whose shoulders are broad, imposing, and carrying an impossible weight of duty was once a stranger who fell from the sky.

Memories of that pivotal day are seared into your mind as though someone had left a branding iron out in the scorching Arrakeen sun and pressed it to the grey swirls of your brain. The violent vibrations of the ornithopter colliding with the dunes beyond the sietch in which you lived had shocked you from your slumber overnight, causing you to dart from your bed for fear of another Harkonnen attack. Despite it being only a handful of months since the oppressive regime of House Harkonnen had departed your beloved home world, you still feared them.

While it was almost unquestionable to you that The Baron would launch an attack upon his cousin, Duke Leto Atreides having been gifted Arrakis from the Emperor himself, the shell shock that persisted beyond the Harkonnen retreat often left you fearful for your life when loud noises emerged from the desert plains. Only the repeated muffled knocks of thumpers and, ironically, the swish of sand being moved aside by the enormous bodies of the sandworms Shai-Hulud brought you any semblance of comfort that all was as it should be.

this was absolutely stunning– I have no words to describe how much I love this, you wrote it perfectly. The feeling of the cruelty of the desert, the emotions reader is going through (which im not gonna lie i really related to) and the way Leto is just so soft, understanding, all of it made me so happy but also so sad because of the ending I will be reading this again and again, thank you so much for writing it <3333

It won’t be Tolkien this time, but take it easy. Silmarilion will always be with me before all the books. This is where I have oc and this is where my most important environment is. However, recently I really liked the Dune universe and you have to explore new worlds. I am shocked because I do not like scifi but this book captivates me from the very beginning ! It is far from Tolkien, but some of the themes are fascinating. One of the characters that convinces me a lot is Lady Jessica. I just finished reading the first book in the series. I already know that I will reach further. And I had to draw her and Duke Leto! Although I feel that one fanart will not end with one. When it comes to her outfit, although I am at the beginning of reading, at the very beginning, the presented Bene Gesserit reminded me of a combination of geisha with trained female assassins and I thought about the dress cut in the style of the rich lady of the eastern regions. A little bit Arabic. I also gave her a scarf on her hair.

i finally receive my dune books : i get the first 3 books of a 1984’s french edition, the cover are stunning
i can’t wait to start reading them

Just so you know, I’m only watching Marvel’s Moon Knight for Oscar Isaac. That man is SO FINNE-

I know that man is old enough to be my dad, but I would RISK IT ALL FOR HIM.

I was BLESSED today with a commissioned work from my favorite artist @miranhas-art and you GUYS, LOOK

LOOK AT IT

I love everything about this. The expressions, the eye contact, the grapes!!, the POSE!! She even drew my favorite summer dress

Mari is an absolute genius and has this way of drawing touches and subtleties of intimate emotion that make my heart YEARN. I’m so amazed at how she was able to capture the encompassing aura of Leto (not to mention the TUM and THIGHS wowww, she even got the RING in there!!) I let her decide from a list of options of scenes to draw. And let me tell you, my mind could NEVER have come up with something so playful and sweet. I’m completely smitten with this and I may be biased of course but I think it’s her best work yet.

Thank you, Mari, you really made my day

[also I believe her commissions are still open so y’all should jump on it while you can]

I present you Letoyueh

I am concerned that most people and social justice warrior watching Dune this fall will completely miss the point

So far some of the complaints that I’ve seen is that Dune:

- is promoting the white saviour complex (and if you’ve read the book or have any knowledge about Paul or the BG, you know that’s not true)

- is homophobic (well, it was published in the 60s, what do you expect? watching something on screen or reading about it doesn’t mean that it’s automatically good or moral; you can process things through your own thought filter and understand this isn’t a good thing; we have to understand this is an adaption so it doesn’t reflect the views of the crew, cast, director etc)

- doesn’t try to make new stars by hiring unknown actors (i feel like that would be a terrible decision especially if you can have household recognizable names that bring value, experience and attention to your piece; would you watch a movie if you didn’t know any of the actors? maybe, but that’s not everyone. it’s as if these actors didn’t earn their roles; i feel like with this one people are running out of things to complain about)

- apparently people shame DV because he wanted his movie on the big screen and not on a atreaming service? Which director wouldn’t want his work to be fully appreciated in the cinema (and yes, i assume he understands we live in a pandemic and the tickets and the whole experience is more costly)

- that Paul is played by a white actor? Personally I always saw Paul as a white-coded character especially since Jessica is pale and the Atreides come from the Greeks

- that characters played by POC actors will die? I don’t understand this complaint: it’s literally what happens in the book. Yes, I understand the implication that POC characters always die on screen, but if they weren’t POC at all, then that would be cause for another discourse so people just can’t be pleased (I must sound very ignorant whilst saying this and I’m sorry but it’s a bit far-fetched)

- that a lot of characters seem to be missing from the adaption based on the trailer; this I can understand, but we also need to understand that this movie represents only half of the first book in a six book series and that it will cater to non-fans as well who will most likely be a little overwhelmed; on this topic, since we’ll be seeing very little from the book, then it’s possible people won’t pick up on Paul’s villanous arc or the BG’s eugenics hence reinforcing the view that Dune promotes the chosen one trope and the white saviour complex

- that despite being inspired from Arabic/ Oriental/ Middle Eastern culture, it doesn’t have a lot (if any) people of this descend play any characters on screen; i’m sure there are reasons for that (honestly I’m afraid they were looking for POC but not middle eastern necessarily eg: Zendaya, the actor who plays Stilgar) but I digress since I agree a little but I definitely won’t boycott or hate the movie without ever having seen it based solely on this

Sorry for the rant of I offended anyone. It just angers me when I see people hating on Dune for the most outlandish and ignorant reasons without ever giving it the benefit of the doubt
