This is hilarious…

I know some of the people in his credits, and he’s an Austin person, too?

Another beetle pixel art from me. This time it’s a darkling beetle while also being a representation of the deserts of the American Southwest where it can be found.

Hi, sorry I haven’t been posting much lately. Have this pixel art I made today. It’s a trio of asian beetles, alongside the year an established population was identified in the United States. The style is very purposefully reminiscent of a pinned insect collection. I originally intended to add pins, in fact, but these species are small enough that accurately sized pins obscured them more than I wanted. Regardless, I hope you enjoy!

Blue Carpenter Bee - Xylocopa caerulea

Undoubtedly the Blue Carpenter Bee, Xylocopa caerulea (Hymenoptera - Apidae) is one of the most striking among the carpenter bees. It is a large bee, close to an inch in length, with a hairy blue thorax, black abdomen, and long black eyes.

These Asian bees are non-aggressive. They nest in wood, and are semi-solitary, it is that they don’t have hives like honey bees do, but sometimes several queens will share a common entry hole to their nest. Since carpenter bees nest in dead wood, they sometimes do damage to the leaves of old houses, and can be pests. However, they are important pollinators of both native and agricultural plants, which more than makes up for the occasional damage they do to already-rotten wood. Being large and strong bees, the flowers pollinated by these bees may have an especially strong architecture.

I’ve been going through some heavy stuff lately, and finally had a moment to sit down and open

I’ve been going through some heavy stuff lately, and finally had a moment to sit down and open some belated Xmas and bday gifts from you guys. I think it was one of those things where I was meant to wait to open these specific gifts, as it seems they were opened (given) at the precise time.

Thank you @looking_glass_insects for the beautiful Swallowtail Butterfly display! I love the way you displayed it in a cigar box alongside a super cool pulp mag! This will be hung in my bedroom alongside my other specimen collection! If you guys are into cool stuff like this, definitely check out their work and support their small business!

Thank you so much to the wonderful person who took the time to source all of the photos of the late Stan and I and put them on a beautiful tumbler. It was incredibly touching. For those of you who have been around for a long time, you know how much he meant to me and that he truly was a dear friend of mine. I will treasure this

Thank you to the person who sent me the lovely card, the funny jokes, and pooper scooper for the cats They were in need of a new one hahaha!

You guys gave me the feels with your wonderful expressions of art, your beautiful words, the smiles you brought me, and kindness you shared. Today was the day to open these and I am so very grateful for you guys.
