Happy (?) Clone Wars Friday! (Why do I say happy? It never is!)

The three Star Wars trilogies parallel in each other in interesting and not-so-interesting ways. One of the less obvious parallels is that a never-before-seen but beloved minor character dies at the beginning of each “dark middle chapter.” Padme’s decoy Corde dies at the beginning of Attack of the Clones; Luke’s gunner Dak dies at the beginning of Empire Strikes Back; and Rose’s sister Paige dies at the beginning of The Last Jedi. These deaths accomplish two things: they set a grim tone after the victorious finale of the previous film, and they establish a main character’s emotional investment in the war.

Both Dak and Paige die in battle, but Corde is assassinated just outside the Senate. Though The Clone Wars have not been declared, this act of aggression was certainly meant to provoke them. I would argue that Corde is technically the first casualty of The Clone Wars – the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Star Wars.

murphy-strike-team:

God fucking damn it. For once in my life could I PLEASE be put in jeans that don’t have tears or runs.

Oh, I know, right!?

It’s even almost impossible to buy jeans that AREN’T ripped.

Maybe I could sell all my torn up ones for a higher price and call it fashion?

Considering the amount of times some of those pair have been through a fight with a weevil or other alien, explosions, or any time I’ve been dragged, I’d say I deserve a few extra quid for the trouble.

Boom.

Turn on your sound for this supercut of explosions from the Predator films!

some-tf-reblogs:

What characters do you want to see get an updated toy in “Transformers: Legacy” series (and potentially other series after that) ?

Anon asked:  Could we have explosion-related prompts please and thank you?

Sure!

  • The residual aftershock
  • Crush injuries from falling debris
  • The punch to the chest feeling
  • The ringing ears and the limited visibility.
  • The worry when not everyone is accounted for
  • The ground becoming unstable beneath them - perhaps crumbling and separating the character.
  • The terror of having to escape a structurally compromised building
  • Continual, unpredictable after-explosions that’s terrorise the surrounding landscape (from broken gas lines, machinery etc)
  • “Hang on… where’s A?”
  • “Was anyone left in the building?”
  • The characters getting tossed backwards (into walls, cars, pillars, other people etc)
  • Characters suffering from PTSD post-explosion - perhaps being triggered by loud bangs etc.
  • The chaos of emergency services trying to figure out what’s going on and how to stabilise what’s left of the building.
  • Characters trapped in tiny air pockets
  • Chemical burns from leaking cannisters
  • Characters falling through floors.

SPOILERS FOR BORDERLANDS 2

“Just give it up, kiddo. Bloodwing’s got ALL the elements at her disposal! Fire! Electricity! Corrosion! Slag! And… ah, damn, I forgot the last one. What the hell was that, again? “

Still one of my best editing job to date… shame that it disappeared like that…
