welcome home Ophelie, the newest of our family!
she’s a Francois Gaultier fashion lady, probably from the 1880s if her princess petticoat is original (the arm holes look like a style from that era to me, and the combination chemise-petticoat first became a thing around 1877). she has a dress; I just feel like it’s massively tacky. it may be made of antique materials, but it’s this odd mustard yellow with pink trim
her body has some serious damage to the hands and the arms; the fingers are splitting along the seams and, in an attempt to tourniquet off the leaking sawdust, someone tied thread tightly around her wrists. so now her hands are all floppy on loose wrists devoid of stuffing. because someone couldn’t bother to just stabilize the splits
she also has a lot of cracks on her head, possibly from being dropped at some point, but they’ve been repaired
I couldn’t resist that sweet face, so here she is! ready for new hair and clothes and a new life

It’s #MyScene…you know what I mean?! One of my favourite doll lines turns 20 this year, so I decided to come up with new looks for the original 3 dolls released in 2002. #Barbie, #Madison & #Chelsea
(#Nolee & #Delancey are coming too). These girls were all about living it up in NYC, with their sleek city chic style & mature branding. Which look is your fave & did you love these growing up? I personally think Mattel should bring back one of their most well designed, successful & iconic doll lines.

Spinmaster Liv Doll on Mattel Barbie Vespa
Not first choice as a toy, but the dolls are have a good quality and look nice with the glass eyes, if you like the huge head. Wigs can be attached, which is a nice idea.

Hasbro Disney Descendants
Not great dolls, but good enough if you find a good deal. Biggest issue are, as with many other dolls, are the feet with shoes that won’t fit other dolls and the other way around. Clothes are extremly cheaply made, and even lower quality than the late Barbie Fashionistas. Clothes from many other fashion dolls will fit though.If you find a way to get some shoes or your kids are into Disney, they are better than the Princess dolls, since they have articulated joints and more characters. This one was a thriftstore find with hair issues, so she got it cut short.

Casual Queen Mera
Queen Mera of Atlantis from the Aquaman series of 11 inch action figures. I bought the doll cheap after Christmas because the packaging was damaged. I like them because they have fully articulated joints and a more realistic and muscular body shape than the fragile and ill-proportioned Barbie dolls.My daughter likes them as well. She fits in some Barbie tops and wider dresses, Ken’s pants, and modified G.I. Joe clothes.

Asian Barbie Doll
I’m not an expert on Barbie dolls, but I noticed they are not very diverse. Even darker skin tones are hard to get. Unless you want to look your kid’s toy area like a Lenie Riefenstahl movie, it’s not easy to find a descent doll with features other than the classic blonde. So when Amazon suggested this Asian doll I ordered it right away (I usually don’t fall for these ads that easy). It’s fully articulated, which is also great, since many Barbie dolls are not very playable. She doesn’t come with the clothes shown on the photo. The original outfit is a yoga dress. The name is ‘Made To Move Barbie’. This just a sidenote if anyone out there is looking for something like this

The Tough Ladies of G.I. Joe
In the mid 90s Hasbroreleased a series of female 11 inch action figures with female soldiers. Unlike their skinny Barbie sisters, they have a more realistic body shape and are more durable for playing. With a few modifications they are able to wear clothes and shoes from other fashion dolls. The hands are bigger to handle the gear that comes with the male G.I. Joes (and other action figures).

The big reveal!
A 3D printed Aliah statuette!
This is a test 3D print we had made early this month to get an idea of amount of material, size,
and time it would take to offer a small limited run of 3D printed dolls. I also really wanted to get a physical example of the progress that’s been done in re-sculpting our doll.
