No but Ed never explained what happened between him and Stede, he just came home and started living in his depression room (and Izzy made it a point to hide him from everyone). So to the Revenge’s crew all they know is:
1. Ed and Stede went to the army together
2. Ed came back (without his beard) but Stede didn’t
3. Ed is extremely depressed and singing about death
And of course they all know how head over heels Stede and Ed were for each other and they have no reason to believe that they would willingly break up, so I raise you:
The crew of the Revenge thinks that Stede died in war. Like, two days after joining the army
I like the idea that they were all debating about this; and Olu’s like yeah stedes definitely dead; and frenchies like no I bet a witch stole Ed’s beard and stede with it; and roach is like I bet stede sacrificed himself to protect Ed’s beard but he didn’t make it; and it just keeps going like this

Okay I know I’m a day behind but I’ve just read the bit where Dracula’s carriage arrives to pick Jonathan up and the coach driver and other passengers have clearly been hammering along this road, pushing the horses to go as fast as possible to try and make it look like there’s no one to pick Jon up and ‘oh no, you’ll have to come with us to the next not vampire infested town’ and I just think it’s really sweet that they tried collectively to protect this bonkers little englishman with the self preservation instincts of lemming.
Fruits Basket is wild because the premise is “Haha! Wow! These Pretty Anime Men turn into Animals when theyre hugged and then when they turn back they’re NAKED!!! ehe silly anime!” but then you watch it and its like. Every Character on this show is physically, financially, and emotionally controlled by one person with immeasurable wealth and power. the main characters stories revolve around their slow recovery from the trauma of physical/verbal abuse, sexual manipulation, and neglect. there’s a love triangle that isnt even about Who Gets The Girl, but rather each individual’s growth as a human being, understanding that they are worthy of love and compassion, that there are people in this world who will love them, unconditionally, and that they DESERVE to be loved. love EXISTS and nothing about them makes them unworthy of whole, unbiased love. that realization is a pivotal part of their healing and it’s a central theme of the show that comes up for each and every character, whose own journeys follow that same thread of healing past wounds with compassion, love, and friendship.
and then they like. barely ever turn into animals.
