Who Do You Choose?

Based on this request: Hi, thank you so much that’s so nice of you!! Made my day ahha. In my dr I can never choose between Oliver wood or Fred Weasley, so if you could write a one shot about a love triangle between those two that would be so fun. You could choose whoever you want to end up with reader, I would prefer it to be a surprise. I really don’t mind about gender or house or anything, I’m okay to leave that up to you. I do always picture Fred and Oliver as bad boys but I can’t wait to see who you come up with!! Thanks again :) xx

Here you are! I do not own ANY HP characters. They are, unfortunately, the property of J.K. Rowling.

Warnings: Angsty, mentions of injury…open ending?? I think that’s it.

Pairings: Fred Weasley x reader x Oliver Wood

If someone had told you that you would end up in a love triangle with Oliver Wood and the cutest (in your opinion) Weasley, Fred, you would have laughed in their face. After all, what did you have that others didn’t in order to catch the attention of both boys? And yet here you were sitting between both Gryffindors in the Great Hall as you talked excitedly about the next Quidditch match.

It had taken some convincing, but you simply couldn’t choose between the two boys so you and they agreed that you would sort of date both of them. That way, you could take your time deciding who you clicked with more and neither boy got his feelings hurt. You knew that you would eventually have to choose, especially since you were in your final years at Hogwarts and would be moving on to your future careers. But for now, you enjoyed every moment you had together with them.

“You’re coming to the match, right Y/N?” Oliver asked. You nearly rolled your eyes. Quidditch was Oliver’s one true love besides you of course. “I’d never miss the chance to see my boys in action. Of course I’ll be there,” you stated. Fred beamed, wrapped an arm around your shoulders, and pulled you a little closer so he could press a kiss to your temple. Of the two, Fred was far more openly affectionate that Oliver, who simply gave you a quick squeeze before pulling Fred away from the table to get ready.

Later that day, you sat in the stands, ready to cheer on your boys, as well as the rest of the Gryffindor team. You weren’t obsessed with Quidditch the way Oliver was, but you were always happy to be there for him and Fred. You watched as Oliver blocked pass after pass of the Quaffle and Fred smacked Bludgers away from other players with ease. With every play, you got more and more excited. At least, until it happened.

Fred sped over next to Oliver, whacking a Bludger away and causing Oliver to lose focus for a moment. The Quaffle hit him dead in the stomach, knocking the air out of him. He caught the ball, but lost his balance. “OLIVER!” you cried as he fell from his broom. Your scream caught Fred’s attention and caused him not to notice the Bludger heading toward him. “FRED! LOOK OUT!”

Luckily, Fred was able to sped away quickly and the Bludger missed. Your heart was still beating hard against your ribcage as you forced your way down to meet up with Oliver and Fred. You could hear Madame Hooch scolding Marcus Flint for his obviously malicious throw. “Are you okay?!” you asked, trying not to get hysterical. Oliver had taken worse hits, but the fall scared you. You couldn’t lie.

“You worry too much,” Oliver told you through a groan. You glared playfully at him. Fred was at your shoulder a moment later. “Yeah they do, but that was quite the fall, Wood.” You glanced at Fred. “Are you okay?” you whispered and he wrapped an arm around your shoulders with a cheeky grin. “Course, love. Takes more than a close call to keep me down.”

The two of you helped escort Oliver to the Hospital Wing, where Madame Pomfrey promptly shooed you away. Even Fred’s charm couldn’t persuade her otherwise. So you waited. You knew you were being overly paranoid. After all, Oliver had taken a Bludger to his head during his first match ever. If he could stand that, a hit with a Quaffle and a fall should be okay…right?

“You’re really worried, huh?” Fred’s voice pulled you from your thoughts. There was an edge to his tone that you hadn’t heard before. Jealousy, maybe? “Yeah, I suppose I am.” Fred nodded, his eyes riveted on you. You asked him what he was thinking.

“Would you react the same if it were me?” You blinked in surprise at the question. “Of course I would!” you answered immediately, “Fred, you know I care for you! Just the same as I care for Oliver!” Fred held up his hands in surrender and apologized. You let out a huff and sat down next to him. He took your hand in his. “What brought this on?” you asked him in hushed voice.

“Things are changing. Wood is leaving soon, you’ll leave the year after, then me the year after that. I think that, eventually, you’ll have to choose.” You stiffened next to him and he continued, “Think about it. You’ll be out there with a job and freedom, while Wood will be playing professional Quidditch and I’ll be stuck here another year. You will have to choose one of us…or neither.” Fred then left you alone with your thoughts.

Deep down, you knew he was right. You just wondered why he started thinking about this so suddenly. Had someone said something? Had he and Oliver been talking behind your back? Was he thinking of leaving the relationship first? Or was Fred truly jealous and had hidden it well until your reaction to Oliver’s injury? You didn’t know the answer to any of those questions. What you did know what that you didn’t want to choose, but you also didn’t want to hurt either of them.

Fred was sweet and charming. His mischief always made you smile, even when you were the victim of his pranks. They were harmless after all. You got on with George alright too. Fred had already introduced you to his family and you adored them. Fred made you laugh, always up from the next thing no matter what it was. Bonus points if it could get you both in trouble. Fred kept you on your toes and was openly affectionate in a way Oliver wasn’t.

But Oliver? Oliver was kind and caring. Even if he didn’t show affection in public, he loved to be near you all the time. When you were alone, he loved to cuddle. And he was passionate about so many things besides Quidditch, like he was really good at defensive spells and charms. He was protective without being overly so. He liked to talk about the future with you while Fred wasn’t sure what the future would bring yet. Both boys were two sides of the same Galleon and you loved both of them. And yet, Fred was right. You would eventually have to choose. So, dear readers…who do you choose?

(a/n: I couldn’t choose an ending! So, you get to choose!)

Pairing:  Fredx fem!reader/slytherin!reader

Requested: Hi! A Fred Weasley imagine where he finds a cat animagus and he takes a liking in it. Maybe she’s hurt and he helps her, but she’s stuck somehow. And he’s with her all day, then later during dinner, she falls asleep on his lap, and suddenly she turns back into a person but she’s asleep in Fred’s lap, and everyone’s shocked to see who it is. it’s Draco Malfoy’s best friend who’s in slytherin. Maybe Fred’s always had a crush on her and she likes him back.

Warnings: injuries

A/N:  I just want to say that I love this idea and I hope I wrote it well

———————————–

Stupid first years. That had been the only thing on your mind as you limped around the halls. You’d been trying to practice your animagus skills when you’d gotten sidetracked by a group of first years coming around the corner. They’d pet you and you pretended to enjoy it, purring at them and hoping they’d go away soon enough. That had been until one of them decided it was a good idea to pick you up from only one of your arms. With a cry you’d fallen to the ground and you’d been stuck as a cat for longer than you would’ve liked.

“George, look. A cat.” You heard someone’s voice. “I think it’s hurt.” The voice that you’d now realized was Fred Weasley said. “Oh you poor thing.” Fred’s vice startled you when it was right above you. With one hand he scooped you up and pet you between your eyes. You let out a hiss and bit Fred’s finger. “Ow! I’m trying to help you.” Fred whined and settled for carrying you with no other movements.

Out of all the people that could’ve found you, you hadn’t wanted it to be Fred. You’d had a crush on the boy for years, and this is the closest you’d ever been. You were sure Draco would be having a field day if he saw you. He knew just how your animagus form looked, and he’d known about your crush on the older Weasley twin ever since the both of you had become friends. You wanted nothing more than to rub yourself against his cheek as a thank you for him picking you up.

“What’s wrong with her?” George asked, both of the boys looking down at you on Fred’s bed. You stared back up at them, wishing you could somehow communicate what exactly you needed.

“I think it’s the arm? Maybe her paw.” Fred explained, gently probing your arm once again. “Oh!” He exclaimed when he’d finally found the problem. “Poor baby has a dislocated arm.” Fred diagnosed making your heart drop.

You’d hissed when he tried picking you up again, clawing at his hand with your good paw. A dislocated arm most likely meant you’d have a dislocated shoulder in your human form. You remembered the feeling the last time you’d had one and popping the bone back in place was never fun. With both of the twins coming at you at once you couldn’t fight them off, both of them throwing reassuring cooes your way while Fred put your arm back in place.

“See? That wasn’t so bad.” Fred scratched under your chin and you let out an involuntary purr, relaxing into him. “I think she’s saying thank you.” He laughed when you rubbed your head on his cheek. “I think I’ll keep you.” Fred pondered, sitting on his bed and placing you in his lap.  You crawled up his chest, sitting down while you looked down at him.

“What should we name her?” George asked, scratching the top of your head.

“Y/N.” Fred explained making you look at him in shock.

“What? Why?” George asked, voicing your thoughts.

“I don’t know.” Fred shrugged. “She just reminds of her.” He continued, petting your head all the way down to your tail. “What do you say Y/N?” Fred asked, earning a purr in response. “She likes it.” He smiled at his brother.

George made his way out of the room, muttering about how crazy his brother was under his breath. You’d tried changing back so you could thank Fred, but the dull pain when you walked let you know you’d be stuck for a while longer. You laid down on Fred’s chest and got comfortable, giving his chin a lick just to hear him laugh. You’d figured you’d make the most of the time you had left. Fred played with you until George came back in, declaring it was time for dinner.

“You can’t bring her with us.” George protested when he saw you in Fred’s arms.

“Don’t be mean. Poor thing probably hasn’t eaten. I’ll give her some food and bring her back.” Fred explained, both of them walking out of the Gryffindor common room. Fred continued to baby talk to you, and only stopped when Draco started walking in your direction.

“Have you lot seen Y/N?” Draco asked the twins, only for his eyes to land on you in Fred’s arms, a knowing smile forming on his face.

“No, she’s your best friend Malfoy, shouldn’t you know where she is?” George asked, and Draco moved closer to you.

“I just remembered.” Draco smiled. “Where’d you find a cat? I know your parents don’t have enough to get you one.” He explained and you hissed.

“She was limping around and we helped her.” Fred explained, ignoring his comment while Draco reached his hand out to pet you.

“Merlin.” Draco hissed pulling his hand away from you.

“She doesn’t like you.” Fred laughed as Draco shook his hand to stop the pain. “What a good girl.” Fred cooed down at you only making Draco smirk down at you. You would’ve bit him again if it weren’t for Fred holding you, and with a rough pat to your head Draco left.

You curled in Fred’s lap when he sat down in the Great Hall. At first you’d eaten some of the food held out for you, but you soon felt tired. With a purr you’d rubbed yourself against his stomach and your eyes felt heavier. Before you knew it, you were sound asleep in Fred’s lap.

“She’s so cute.” Ginny almost squealed but with Fred’s death glare she kept it quiet. She pet you softly and it seemed like everyone’s attention was on the cat in Fred’s lap.

Fred had stayed seated while the majority of the hall was being cleared out. He hadn’t wanted to wake you up, so all he did was sit and speak quietly to his siblings. Somehow through your nap you’d changed back into your human form, and it seemed on instinct that you curled further into Fred, getting comfortable on his lap and chest.

“Bloody hell!” Fred exclaimed, his hands raising up and away from himself when he finally took you in.

Summary: After getting split up, the worst thing possible happens

———————————–

You were stumbling around the halls of Hogwarts, holding your side. You’d regretted going your separate way from the twins even though it was the plan. There was no doubt you wouldn’t be able to calm down until you found the both of them. Your limp was slowing you down as you walked, and you were sure there was no way you could fight off anyone if they were to come at you at that moment.

“Y/N?” You heard someone ask making you turn around to see Neville.

“Neville.” You breathed a sigh of relief.

“Let me help you to the great hall. Everyone’s there.” He explained, walking over to you and wrapping your arm around his shoulder while he held you up.

“Good, that’s good.” You winced when you both started walking a bit faster than you had been previously.

The walk was silent, neither of you knowing what you could possibly say. You tried focusing on breathing, your side killing you a whole lot more than it had been before.

“I have to go find someone.” Neville explained once you both reached the door.

“Okay, stay safe.” You smiled softly and braced yourself on your good side.

With sad eyes you looked around at all the injured and unmoving bodies laid all around the hall. A flash of red hair caught your attention and it made your head shoot up and you couldn’t help the smallest smile that made its way onto your face when you saw George. You winced when you’d tried walking normally and the closer you got the more anxious you became. It seemed all the Weasleys were standing around someone, and you didn’t miss that all of them were upset. You frantically searched the group for Fred and your stomach dropped when you couldn’t find him.

“George?” You asked, your voice wavering. You didn’t want your thoughts to be true, hoping your boyfriend had still been wandering around somewhere in the school. All the Weasleys’ attention seemed to snap toward you, and George quickly walked over to you. “Where… where is he?” You whispered, the answer already written on his face, but you needed to hear it. There was a small part of you that was still holding onto the hope he might be somewhere else.

“Y/N…” George trailed, his voice cracking when his attention averted to Fred’s limp body making your heart shatter and bile rise in your throat.

“No.” You croaked, your knees buckling. “No no no.” You choked out, your knees giving out from under you. Whimpered no’s continued to leave you while you crawled over to him. Your shaking hand made its way up to hold his face. “Freddie.” You sniffed, resting your forehead on his.

Memories of your time together started hitting you all at once. From the first train ride to Hogwarts, to the yearly three person trail that would run into platform nine and three quarters together. Your first kiss at the astronomy tower. The picnics you’d have on the quidditch field. The victory kisses you’d share after games. The time Fred and George invited you over to the borough for the first time. All the late nights the three of you would spend planning everything you’d all sell at the shop. Then you remembered the thing that broke your heart the most. The ring on your finger. Fred’s promise to love you forever, even through all your problems that may come along the way. At the thought, your crying became even harder.

“Y/N.” George’s shaky voice pulled you from your thoughts making you shake your head. “Y/N.” He repeated, pulling you away gently.

You clung to him for dear life, shoving your face in his chest as he held you tightly. You fisted his shirt in your fingers tightly, continuing to shake. George’s cries filled your ears, and this only made you feel worse.

“Y/N, dear.” Molly’s voice made you pull away and turn to her. “You’re hurt.” She pointed out making you look down at your side, but you waved her off sadly.

“I’m alright.” You whispered, crouching down before sitting down near Fred’s head.

“We should get you checked out.” George explained, sitting down next to you.

“You aren’t taking me anywhere but here.” You shook your head, your eyes never leaving Fred. Reaching out, you moved the hair away from his forehead and scooted closer before kissing it gently. “I miss you already my love.” You whispered, grabbing his hand to hold in yours.

George’s arm wrapped around you and you let your head rest on his shoulder. You let the tears fall freely, not bothering to wipe them away since you knew they were only going to get replaced with more. George’s head rested on yours, and the wet drips you felt every now and then let you know he was crying too. Grabbing his hand in your free one, you brought it over so the three of you were connected.

“I love you. The both of you.” You sniffed, looking up at George.

“We love you too. Always have, always will.” He smiled softly down to you, squeezing his hand over yours and Fred’s.

“Okay.” You whispered to yourself, taking a shaky breath while you reached over to the ring on Fred’s other hand. “I’m sorry.” You cried, slipping the ring off and kissing his ring finger gently before placing his hand back down. “Now you can have one too.” You choked out, grabbing George’s hand and slipping it on. “One for me, and one for you. To promise to keep his memory alive.” You explained, pausing when you inhaled sharply to stop yourself from full on sobbing. “To promise that we’ll always be here for each other, no matter what.” You continued, looking up at George’s tear stained face. “And to promise that nothing will change even though he’s… gone.” You explained, looking him in the eye. “And to never go a day without a joke in his honor.” You choked out.

The three of you had planned on living together as soon as you could, and the battle had put a hold on the plan. The three of you always did everything tougher, even going as far as letting George third wheel on dates.

“I’d like that.” George nodded, scooting even closer to his brother.

You all continued to sit and stand in silence. Letting it fully sink in that Fred was truly gone. Before you all left George had leant down to his brother’s ear. No one catching his last words to his other half.

“I’ll take care of her, Freddie. I promise.”

Summary: Fred’s clueless to your surprise dinner and needs everything spelled out for him

———————————–

Your heart was racing, almost beating out of your chest when you looked down at the stick. The positive made your stomach churn, but it could’ve easily been the morning sickness you’d thought was food poisoning. You quickly hid the test under toilet paper when you heard a knock at the door and turned the faucet on to wash your shaking hands.

“Good morning.” Fred yawned, walking up behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his chin on your shoulder.

“Morning.” You whispered, staring at your hands intently while you scrubbed for dear life.

“Are you okay?” He asked, kissing your temple and standing up straighter.

“Yeah.” You cleared your throat and shook your hands to air dry them once you turned off the water. “Just waking up that’s all.” You lied with what you hoped would be a convincing smile up to your husband.

“I have some things to take care of today. Can you help George out down at the shop?” He asked, rubbing his nose against your skin.

“Of course I can.” You smiled and kissed him softly when he pulled away. “I’ll go get ready.” You explained, walking out and taking a deep breath.

You didn’t know why you hadn’t told him right then and there, but your nerves and shock had taken over. You’d walked around like a zombie during the better part of the morning. How were you going to tell Fred? You needed to come up with something good that would make up for not telling him right when he walked into the bathroom. With a sigh you walked over to George who had been sorting displays for the past hour.

“George, I need your help with something.” You explained making the younger twin look at you.

“Yeah, what is it? Is everything alright?” He asked, worry evident in his tone.

“You have to promise not to blab because I haven’t told Fred yet.” You started and George’s face lit up like a Christmas tree.

“You’re pregnant aren’t you!” George explained more than questioned making you hush him.

“Wanna speak any louder?” You hissed and pulled him away from the rest of the customers. “How should I tell him? I couldn’t just say it this morning. Any ideas?” You asked when you got into the office.

“Fireworks.” He stated matter of factly making you look at him with a cocked brow. “I can make a custom one that says it. He’ll love it.” George tried, bouncing on the balls of his feet making you shake your head with a small laugh.

“Thank you for the suggestion George, but I think I’m going to go for something more subtle.” You explained and patted his shoulder.

You’d asked almost everyone you could for any ideas. All the Weasleys already knew you were pregnant thanks to George’s big mouth, and you were shocked that Fred was still in the dark. No one’s suggestions seemed to be helpful. It all sounded like the way they wanted to be told, and Molly even went as far as explaining how she told Arthur. It hasn’t been until Ginny expressed her confusion for ideas you calmed. It hadn’t been until you were grocery shopping that the idea formed, and you couldn’t wait to put it into action.

“How was your day?” Fred asked making you jump and turn around to see him standing in the doorway.

“It was good. I made us a special dinner.” You smiled nervously, earning a smile from Fred.

“You’re the best, I don’t deserve a girl as amazing as you.” He hummed, hugging you and kissing your temple.

“Such a charmer.” You teased, grabbing the plates before making your way to the table. You gave Fred a quick kiss before going back to the oven and set the timer for the desserts you had put in only moments before.

“What is all this?” He asked, making you smile.

“Baby back ribs with baby carrots and baby corn.” You explained, drawing out the baby each time you said it.

Fred thanked you quietly for the food, and began eating. You groaned silently and watched him intently while you began picking at your food. Should you have spelled it out with the carrots and corn on the plate?

“All baby foods?” Fred asked after a while and you held your breath.

“Yes. All baby foods.” You tried emphasizing.

“Makes me feel like a giant.” He joked and grabbed one of the baby corns before plopping it into his mouth.

You could’ve killed him right then and there. You loved the man but he could be clueless to your hints sometimes. You’d tried emphasizing the baby theme the entire night and he was still none the wiser to the bun in the oven. You began grumbling to yourself, stabbing all the vegetables with your fork as though they did something wrong to you. It wasn’t until your dessert of mini cupcakes that you couldn’t take it anymore.

“Oh for the love of Merlin, Fred.” You groaned when you saw the boy giddily digging into his dessert. “I’m pregnant!” You all but shouted making him cough on the bite he had just attempted to swallow.

“You’re serious?” He asked once he got the coughing to settle, hope in his eyes.

“Yes.” You nodded with a smile on your face.

Fred threw himself out of his chair, and the sound of dishes clattering and the table creaking made your eyes go wide. It hadn’t been until you were on your back facing the ceiling with Fred wrapped around you that you registered what he’d just done.

“You just jumped across the table.” You let out a breathy laugh.

“You’re pregnant!” He exclaimed and held you close. “We’re having a baby.” He whispered in your ear making you melt and wrap your arms around him.

“Yeah… we are.” You whispered back, smiling when he pulled you in for a gentle kiss.

  • “If you and I were socks, we’d make a great pair.” Harry explained while you both packed our things.
  • “Probably yeah.” You smiled, throwing the pair you held in your hands at him making it hit his face.

Ron Weasley

  • “Y/N feel my shirt.” Ron demanded making you furrow your brows.
  • “Why?” You asked, but did so, touching his stomach lightly.
  • “Boyfriend material don’t you think?” He asked making you laugh and shake your head.

Draco Malfoy

  • “Well, here I am. What are your other two wishes?” Draco walked up to you, making your eyes go wide. You had been in front of your friends after all.
  • “Nice one Malfoy.” One of his friend’s praised him walking by, clapping him on the back.
  • You hadn’t said anything in front of everyone, but you dragged him away to give him a piece of your mind.

Fred Weasley

  • “Aside from being sexy, what do you do for a living?” He’d asked you when you were paying for the puking pastels.
  • “I… um…” You had tried, your whole face red. You only stared, looking at him dumbfounded.
  • “It’s on the house.” Fred explained, handing them back to you with a wink before walking away to help another customer.

George Weasley

  • “Are you from Tennessee? Because you’re the only 10 I see.” George asked, wrapping his arm around your shoulder.
  • “Do you even know where Tennessee is?” You laughed making George’s smile falter.
  • “No…” He grumbled sheepishly.

Masterlist|Prompt List|Requests closed

2 hours and a trip to the flower store later, Fred stood confidently waiting outside of Y/n’s address. He went over the plan in his head for the date. Go for drinks and maybe catch one of those muggle movies that Y/n always seemed to speak about. He took a deep breath and reached out his fist to knock on the door, but someone beat him to it.

The door opened quickly, and Y/n hurried out, a scene of chaos sounding behind her.

“Hi.” She panted as she leaned against the door as if ensuring it was closed. Fred smiled but his eyebrows furrowed with confusion. “Sorry family is a bit hectic today. Well, every day.” She corrected, blowing a strand piece of hair from her face. Fred nodded knowing the feeling of a crazy family, but he was usually the cause of the craziness, so he couldn’t relate too much. “Aw Fred are those for me?”

Y/n’s eyes drifted to the bouquet in Fred’s slightly sweaty hands. Fred nodded with a smile as he took the moment to appreciate how gorgeous his date looked. Y/n’s hair was styled up and she wore a dress that was not too casual nor too formal, it fit her perfectly and Fred’s eyes may have lingered a little too long on it.

“Um Fred?” Y/n bent down so Fred’s eyes would meet hers and as he realised he’d been staring at her body, he stammered and apologised. “It’s okay. I didn’t fit into this dress for it to not be appreciated.” She winked, and Fred’s throat ran dry, he admired her boldness. But Y/n’s coy expression soon turned to deep thought as she looked at the flowers. “Um, I’ll be right back. Just got to put these in a vase.” She gestured with the flowers, her smile still glowing even though she looked more distressed at re-entering the house. She took a deep exaggerated breath and opened the door.

Fred tried to see inside as a loud scream sounded followed by laughter. A woman was yelling after a crash sounded. Fred almost felt guilt for his own family, knowing that him and George had been just as mischievous if not more so than the boys who ran past the window before pressing their faces against it to better see outside. Fred shuffled his feet as they realised they were watching him.

“Oi you two!”

The two young boys turned sharply around, and Fred could just see Y/n standing behind them, her hands on her hips. The boys quickly ran from the window as Y/n reappeared at the door, looking slightly dishevelled.

“Sorry.” Y/n fixed her hair up with an apologetic grimace. Fred just laughed.

“Brothers?”

“Yeah. They’re little – monsters.” Y/n saved herself from swearing with a smirk as she went to close the door, presumably before her brothers could run outside but just before it swung shut, a woman’s voice yelled from upstairs.

“Y/n? Who’s at the door?”

“No one Mum, just a friend.” Y/n yelled back, quickly shutting the door before more questions could be yelled. “Sorry, it’s just if I told her you were my date, we’d never get out of here.” Y/n laughed but Fred could tell she was serious.

“Don’t apologise, I know what having a big family is like and having a Mum that wants to know the details of your life.” Fred noted, his smirk never fading as Y/n’s own rose on her lips. “Shall we get going?” Fred held out his hand for Y/n to take which she happily did. They made their way down to their date location, their hands swinging between them as they discussed the ups and downs of families. Fred was careful on what he said, if he said one thing such as the fact that they didn’t need to argue over dishes because magic did all the chores then he would be screwed, and Y/n would be nothing but confused.

At the same time, Fred tried his best to act as any muggle would which whilst wasn’t difficult, he felt as if it was. He felt like he was tiptoeing on each and every subject, scared that something would trick him out. What was worse was that Y/n seemed to notice.

“Are you sure you’re alright?”

“Oh yeah, I’m fine.” He tried his best to feel relaxed, but the truth was he’d never dated a muggle before, witches yes, muggleborns yes but not someone who didn’t have a clue about the whole other side of her world. Fred had thought briefly about telling her, about ripping off the band-aid but he couldn’t, not here at least. Y/n accepted his answer and pushed on with the conversation.

“You know, I feel like I hardly know much about you. Tell me something that I couldn’t guess.”

Fred had to stop himself from scoffing a laugh and instead took a breath whilst Y/n smiled expectantly. The truth was the she didn’t know a lot about him and it wasn’t just due to the short amount of time in which they had known each other. “Um, well=” He panicked, thinking of the first thing that came into his mind. “I’m really into magic.” Fred cringed whilst internally screaming at himself.

Y/n’s eyes widened a little in surprise but her soft smile never faded. “Like card tricks?” She was trying to laugh which Fred found adorable and he was just glad she hadn’t thought of wand waving but instead the muggle kind. Fred nodded. “Well, you’re right.” He furrowed his eyebrows down, his heart beating rapidly, suspecting that at any moment he was going to be caught out. “I wouldn’t have guessed that.” Y/n laughed, and Fred sighed in relief before joining in.

He also told her about the pranks that he loved to pull with George and the thrill he got from seeing someone laugh because of him. Y/n told him in return about how she only worked at the post office to get by and was hoping one day to be (your/dream/job). She hated the work, but she loved interacting with people of all kinds and feeling like she was helping them in same way. Fred thought she was the most amazing person he had ever met, and he couldn’t help but stare at her beauty.

“What?” Y/n nervously tucked a hair behind her ear and smiled bashfully under Fred’s stare. He immediately shook his head, realising he’d been staring.

“Nothing. It’s just- has anyone told you how amazing you are?” He rested his chin on his hand as his elbow was propped up on the table. Y/n blushed a deep scarlet colour and meet his sweet gaze, a small bit of surprise behind her expression. She just smiled and shook her head. “Well you are.”

Fred could have talked to Y/n all night, smiling and laughing, listening to her stories and she listening to his. They wanted to keep talking so much in fact that they decided to skip the movie and just walk around the streets of London for a while. Their hands intertwined again, and Fred smiled to himself as he felt a jolt of happiness in his stomach, something he didn’t feel with most of the girls he had dated. Y/n’s hand fit perfectly in his, he thought as he stroked his thumb across her hand. He could only hope that Y/n felt the same way.

They came to a stop by a public garden. Y/n smiled at the flowers that bloomed; roses of all different colours, daisies, sunflowers which were only visible by the array of fairy lights that surrounded the garden. It felt magical. There was short silence only broken by the rush of water pouring from the fountain.

“It’s beautiful isn’t it?”

Fred nodded, trying hard to focus on the scenery before him rather than the girl next to him but he failed. His gaze drifted to meet hers and was surprised to see her already smiling at him.

“Fred,” She looked nervous almost. “I know we haven’t known each other that long but it feels like we have. I know it sounds stupid-.”

“No.” Fred was quick to dismiss her worries because he felt the same. Y/n smiled, her lips quirking as she bit her lip. “it’s not stupid.”

They inched closer together, the strangely near-empty streets of London fading from their view. Fred’s hand came to rest on her jaw ready to pull her in close, so their lips could finally meet. Y/n’s eyes closed, a smile edging on her lips. And then Fred felt the pot of guilt for lying bubble over inside his mind, he paused. Y/n opened her eyes slowly to see what was wrong.

“Fred-?”

“I’m sorry, I just-.” He had to tell her, Fred could stand lying to many people for the sake of a joke, but he just couldn’t lie to Y/n, he couldn’t. “I have to tell you something.”

Y/n looked at him with concern, hoping that this was just a joke, one that Fred was so famous for pulling in his stories. “What is it?” She could almost sense the inner conflict within him, the way his mind was working faster than he could process to make a decision.

Fred thought to himself that maybe he was just self-sabotaging another relationship, one that actually had potential to be more, to be what his siblings had – what he wanted. His distracted gaze met Y/n’s and he swallowed the words that had been on the edge of his tongue. “Just how much I want to kiss you right now.” He passed his nerves off as a confident smile, hoping that Y/n didn’t notice. And if she did, then she did a good job of pretending she hadn’t.

“Well I’m not going to complain.” Y/n’s smile brightened before turning into more of a smirk and Fred couldn’t help himself anymore as he looked down to her lips. He pushed all the feelings and conflict away and just focused on closing the gap between himself and Y/n.

When their lips met, it was like someone had set off a round of fireworks in his stomach. Y/n gasped a little into the kiss before smiling and kissing back. One of her hands rested at the back of his neck whilst his free hand went to her waist, pulling her in impossibly closer. They pulled back after a short while and before they both got carried away. Both wore bright grins as they rested their foreheads against each other’s.

Fred soon offered to walk her home and she grinned as she nodded. Their hands joining were almost automatic now as they walked the short distance to Y/n’s house. The walk back was full of idle chatter and coy glances, neither of them wanting the night to end and feeling like teenagers.

They stopped at the door. Y/n still wearing a large smile as she turned to Fred, her hand disconnecting from his. Fred almost pouted at the loss of her warm hand in his.

“Thank you for tonight. I had fun.”

“Me too.” Fred smirked, his hands slipping into his pocket. “I’m so glad I found you.” He said the words with utter confidence and sweetness because they were nothing but the truth. Y/n seemed surprised, but she didn’t falter instead moving in closer towards Fred and kissing his lips again.

“I am too.” Y/n pulled back with a glare, but it wasn’t aimed at Fred, it was aimed towards the front window. “I better go. I’ll see you soon?” She added hopefully, turning her attention back to Fred.

“You can count on it.” He winked and quickly held her hand just, so he could kiss it. Y/n sighed contently before going to open the door. Fred went to walk away with one last smirk but before he could even reach the stairs, he heard, “Y/n kissed him!”. He laughed knowing it was her little brothers and smiling as he heard Y/n yell at them. He could only imagine what his own family would be like once he told them about Y/n and how happy they would be for him.

Fred gave a dramatic sigh and rested his chin on his hand. He looked out of the store window, watching people pass as George closed the door and turned the sign around to let passers-by that they were closed for the evening. He walked back to notice his brother heaving another sigh. George rolled his eyes.

“Mate, come on. I’ve never seen you this hung up on a girl before let alone one you’ve just met.”

“Yeah well. She’s different.

“You spoke to her for like 5 minutes.” George laughed as he started to do inventory. Fred walked with him around the shop, scribbling notes on a piece of parchment.

“Yeah but it was enough time to know that she’s amazing.” Fred frowned again, knowing that he’d probably never meet her again was a sad thought. George stared at Fred, his eyes narrowed in suspiciously.

“You haven’t been ‘testing’ that love potion again have you?” George asked. Fred shook his head.

“No. And that was one time. And it was your fault!” Fred reminded his twin gently. George just smirked and nodded, unconvinced. He remembered the time he had gotten revenge on his brother after he’d dyed George’s hair bright green by making one of their friends give Fred a drink doused with love potion. He’d chased after the girl for about 1 hour (as it had been a week test version), he’d also been very angry with a very amused George.

Fred spoke some more about the mysterious Y/n as they finished up inventory. George rolled his eyes again and got ready to interrupt.

“Look, you know what Mum would say about all of this?”

“That fate would find a way if it was meant to be?” Fred shrugged with an irritated look.

“Exactly. Now, stop complaining and gushing over what’s her name and let things be.” George had never felt wise but in that moment, he felt rather proud of himself. Fred reluctantly nodded but his expression tensed as George’s words processed.

“I haven’t gushed over her. And her name is Y/n.” Fred said matter-of-factly. George just smirked and raised an eyebrow before making his way upstairs to get some rest.

The rain poured down hard on the streets of London. People rushing under covers and bus stops. Loud traffic beeped its way through the streets. Fred hated muggle London. He hated it even more when he was sent to the muggle post office because George just couldn’t find the product they needed anywhere else but from a muggle supplier. A fact that Fred doubted highly because they had magic at their fingertips meaning anything was possible. George had also asked Fred to go with a smirk and a knowing look, he knew there was something else going on, but Fred was too tired and annoyed to figure it out.

He shook of the rain as he entered the warmth of the post office. Normally at a post office, he’d expect owls around every corner, but muggles had a strange way of communicating, insisting to do it themselves through a system.

There was a fairly large sized queue for the desk, so Fred waited. He thought about how much more efficient owl post was, there was no complaints (unless it had been errol delivering something) and there was much less talking about sending something, plus it didn’t cost any money. Fred rolled his eyes as someone slowly counted out there change at the window. Whilst it didn’t take too long for the queue to go down in size, the motion of waiting with the bonus of being soaked to his skin from the rain had pushed him into annoyance.

“Next please.”

Fred sighed in relief as he finally made his way to the woman behind the desk. “Hi, I have to-“ Fred looked up and felt surprise cloud his annoyance.

“Oh hi.” The sweet voice he had been longing to hear again entered his ears.

It was Y/n. Y/n with the beautiful, warm (y/e/c) eyes. Upon seeing her, Fred felt himself smile for the first time that day.

“Hi.” He replied in a voice filled with disbelief that this was real. “What are you doing here?”

“I work here.” Y/n said clearly with a small giggle as she tapped her name badge. Fred nodded with a tinge of embarrassment.

“Right. Right.” He’d almost forgotten where he was and what he was doing. “I have to pick up this parcel.” He handed Y/n the letter, suddenly feeling a lot warmer even though his clothes still stuck to his skin.

“Okay.” Y/n read the letter and disappeared for a second, coming back a moment later with the parcel and her lovely smile. “Here you go.” Fred thanked her, and they smiled at each other for a few moments before someone cleared their throat loudly behind them. Fred resisted turning to glare at the person behind him.

“I best go.” Fred didn’t want to leave but he didn’t want to wait and see if someone would start a fight either, so he left. He wasn’t more than 4 steps away when Y/n yelled out.

“Wait!” So, he did. Y/n apologised to the customer, knowing it went against staff protocol, but she didn’t want to miss the opportunity. “I’m just about to go on my break. Do you want to grab coffee or something?” Y/n smiled hopefully, and Fred would be a fool to turn her down, so he nodded.

He waited in a comfy armchair whilst Y/n finished. It wasn’t long before she came out from behind the desk and pulled him up by the hand. She flashed him a smile as she walked out of the post office with Fred in tow.

They ran through the rain to a small coffee shop which Y/n said was one of her favourites. Fred had never tried coffee before, it wasn’t that he hadn’t heard of it – he just didn’t get the appeal, but he surprised himself as he took an instant liking to it. Y/n settled for a hot chocolate instead saying that it was a much better choice of drink in her opinion.

They talked for the whole half an hour of her break. It was easy to talk to Y/n – she was funny, friendly and sweet. Fred told her about himself (minus the fact that he was a wizard of course) and she returned the conversation. Every little thing he learnt about her made him like Y/n even more. And Fred doubted whether he would ever get enough of seeing her smile because it was truly gorgeous.

As they parted so Y/n return to work, they did so hesitantly. Neither wanted to stop speaking.

“It was really nice speaking to you Fred.” Y/n smiled hopefully and as Fred returned the kind words, she leaned in and boldly kissed his cheek. Her lips were warm on his still rather cold skin. Fred smirked as she pulled back, a red blush painting her cheeks. “Funny how we keep running into each other, huh?”

“Yeah it is.” Except Fred didn’t think that their meeting today was exactly coincidental. “Maybe we should do it again, sometime.” Fred wasn’t hesitant in his words, Y/n smiled widely and nodded. She quickly scribbled on a note and passed it to him.

“It’s my address in case you ever want to write to me. Maybe we can arrange a second date.” Y/n slyly added with a coy smile. Fred smirked wider with a nod before faltering briefly at her words.

“Wait, this was a date?” Fred’s eyebrows furrowed.

“Oh well, only if you want it to be.” Y/n looked more nervous as she spoke, her gaze flitting to anywhere but Fred. He thought on it for a moment and then shook his head. Y/n’s face fell.

“No. I just mean if it’s a first date – you’ll know it’s a first date. Also, it won’t be as rushed.” Fred hoped he sounded as smooth as he intended. Y/n’s smile returned to her face and it was enough to tell him that he was doing okay.

“Okay then, I expect an amazing first date Fred Weasley.” Y/n said boldly. Fred was slightly taken aback but continued smirking at her as flirtatiously as he could. She winked before exiting the small coffee shop. Fred started after her amazed at Y/n’s beauty in every sense of the word. As he walked away he couldn’t wipe the smile off of his face even as the rain continued to lash onto his skin and even as he thought about how George must have somehow planned this. And Fred had every intent of questioning his brother, not knowing whether he wanted to hit George or hug him. He found a safe space away from prying muggle eyes and apparated home, still with a smile plastered on his face and the feel of Y/n’s lips ghosting on his cheek.

———-

George didn’t apologise or make an excuses for himself. He admitted that he’d co-ordinated the meet up perfectly and that he was only giving his twin the kick he needed to stop pining over Y/n and make something more of his crush.

Fred felt powered to prove to George that he was perfectly capable of making a move, so he wrote to Y/n, ignoring his slightly shaking his hand as he wrote. He posted it the muggle way through a strange red box and it was only then that the nerves of what he had just done set in. He’d just asked Y/n on a date, he rethought his wording and knew he sounded stupid, desperate and in a weird way overly confident from his need to prove himself. He peered back into the slit in the red box and peered inside but there was nothing to see except pitch black. He looked for an opening, he even considered smashing the stupid muggle contraption before realising it was no use, the letter was impossible to reach and by tomorrow would be on its way to Y/n who would probably laugh and throw it away. Fred had never felt worse about himself and he didn’t know why.

He was normally fine flirting with girls and asking them out but there seemed to be something different about Y/n and it wasn’t just the fact that she was a muggle.

Fred waited for a reply and George as usual mocked his distant stares out of doorways as if willing Y/n’s reply to magically appear. And then Fred realised that he hadn’t given her an address to write to and in addition to that he was sure that muggle post didn’t typically come to Diagon alley. Fred had a new plan, running to the muggle post office and asking if any letters had been sent. He arrived sweating from nerves but mainly from the exhaustion of actual running. He calmed himself down not wanting to attract attention to himself.

The queue wasn’t long, consisting of one or two people before it reached Fred. He stood next in line ready to chase down the probably non-existent letter that would be addressed to him and then he heard a voice, a familiar voice that made Fred’s heart race ten times faster.

“Fred? What are you doing here?”

He turned around, coming face to face with Y/n dressed in her uniform from the other day. She wore a smile that put the sun to shame, it was that bright whilst Fred stammered like an idiot because he’d forgotten that she works here and now he would look like a fool demanding a letter with his name. Unless-

“I-I was just thinking that I never gave you an address to write to and I wasn’t sure if you got my letter but-.”

“I did.” Y/n’s eyes glimmered with a happiness as she blushed and tucked her hair behind her ear. Fred smiled back.

“I realised you couldn’t respond to my question, so I thought maybe you’d written to me without an address.” Fred felt like he wasn’t making sense and neither it seemed did Y/n who tilted her head in confusion.

“Why would I do that? Then you’d never know my answer was yes.”

“I thought that- wait,” Y/n smirked as Fred processed her words. “Yes?”

“Yes.”

“Holy shit.” Fred muttered the curse under his breath, but Y/n caught it and giggled.

“Soooo…. Are you free tonight?” Y/n’s smile crooked to one side cutely as she swung on the balls of her feet nervously.

“Yeah.”  Fred nodded a bit too quickly, his eyes wide and gleaming with excitement. Y/n smiled, kissed his cheek and told him what time she got off of work. “Great! I’ll pick you up at 6?”

Y/n nodded before she was called away by her colleague and with a grimace she left but not before flirtatiously touching Fred’s arm with a smile that held promises of seeing him later.

Looking around up the train station that he had entered so many times felt different now, yet it looked exactly the same. This time it wasn’t him rushing through the crowd with his Mum moaning about muggles or lugging his trunk along as everyone’s attention turned to an owl hooting through a cage or worse Ron’s rat.

“Fred?!”

He reverted his attention from reading ‘Kings Cross Station’ to his twin in front of him.

“Yes, Georgie?” Fred asked in a mockingly sweet tone. George just smirked and nodded his head towards the packed station.

“Come on, we’ve got a train to catch remember.”

“You make it sound like we’re going back to Hogwarts.” Fred laughed, patting his twin on the shoulder before taking the lead into the station. “Come on Roxy.”

His small 11-year old niece ran after him. She started to enthusiastically speak about Hogwarts and Fred was reminded not only of his siblings but of himself and George at her age. It was all new and exciting to her, it was cute.

“Where’s Angelina?” Fred asked George who had been left to carry most of Roxy’s luggage.

“She’s meeting us there. Did you not hear a word I said before we came in?” George asked but he already knew the answer.

“No, not really.” Fred shrugged with a smirk. George sighed and began to explain that Angelina was meeting them there because of her sister or something. Fred just nodded along.

Eventually, they reached the barrier. Roxy’s innocent little face looked worriedly up at her Dad. It had been 11 years and it was still weird to Fred that George was a Dad now. He watched as George bent down to her level and told her it was fine and all she had to do was run at the barrier. Roxy turned to Fred with a look as if to say ‘seriously?’ and he nodded with an amused smirk. She shrugged and then with a wink she was gone.

The twins both went through and as soon as they saw that familiar scarlet stream engine with a bustling crowd of young witches and wizards, so many memories flooded back. Roxy ran to meet her mother as did George. Fred was just about to go and greet Angelina when he heard a familiar voice call his name. He turned to see his Mother rushing towards him with open arms. She had soon engulfed him a warm, tight hug.

“Mum, what are you doing here?” He didn’t mean to sound so surprised, but he genuinely was. Fred broke the intense hug.

“I came to see off my grandchildren for their first day.” Molly put her hands on her hips and nodded as though it was obvious. Fred nodded and smiled. He had a feeling he knew what was coming next.

“Speaking of…?” Molly tilted her head forward and gave her son a meaningful look. Fred pretended to act confused and not know what she was on about. “You know full well what I’m on about, Fred.” He rolled his eyes, not even trying to hide his annoyance. Every year since her first grandchild had been sent off to Hogwarts, she’d spoken to him about this. Okay, so he was one of the only one of her children to not have settled down yet. He didn’t need reminding and Charlie would tell her the same thing, but the difference between Fred and his older brother was that Charlie was happy living a life with Dragons. Fred, believe it or not, wanted someone to settle down with. It was just that he hadn’t met that person yet. He’d had a series of relationships, but they hadn’t ended well. He’d almost wished his siblings hadn’t been so successful in finding a stable relationship and home life so soon, then there would be less pressure on him.

“You’ll find her, Freddie.” Molly patted his cheek lovingly and he smiled back but simultaneously felt embarrassed much like he had done all them years ago when he was a student. Fred nodded. “You know who I ran into just this morning?” Fred tried harder to hide his annoyance this time. Molly was just about to try and play matchmaker before George came back over with his wife and daughter who gave her grandmother a large hug. Fred had never been more thankful.

The train whistle blew before anyone could process the time and suddenly there was a rush to board the train. Roxy’s luggage was quickly loaded on by Fred and George before she bid goodbye to her parents and then to her Uncle and boarded the train. She smiled with a goodbye wave and Fred swore he heard a little sniffle from his twin. He couldn’t blame George though because as much as Fred might say it, the water behind his eyes was definitely not from the steam.

They left the platform soon after the train had turned the corner. “So, did she give you the same speech?” George laughed knowingly as they came back into the main area of King’s Cross. Fred nodded prompting more laughter from both George and Angelina.

“Not the whole thing mind you but enough.” Fred sighed.

“Classic Mum.” George shook his head fondly. “She did the same thing to all of us though.” Fred nodded at his twin before they moved the subject on. But Fred was still distracted, caught up in thoughts of how happy everyone else seemed to be and feeling like he just hadn’t found ‘it’ yet. Just as he was telling himself that the joke shop was going brilliantly and that should be his sole focus for the time being, someone walked straight into the back of him. He turned sharply ready to yell at whoever it was, but he was stopped quite suddenly when the person turned around.

“I’m so sorry! I was just walking backwards to see the train times and I wasn’t looking where I was going.”

The girl spoke apologetically and quickly. Her voice was kind and soft but what really caught Fred off guard was how beautifulshe was. She had gorgeous (y/h/c) hair that framed her face perfectly and when he met her eyes which were a shining (y/e/c) colour, he instantly got lost in them. Her cheeks blushed bright pink and his must have been the same. She bit her lip and directed her gaze to the floor.

“Sorry again.” She mumbled, looking more bashful with each passing second. Fred just smirked amusedly and outstretched his hand, keeping his cool.

“Fred Weasley.”

The girl looked back up, shocked at the introduction and his outstretched hand. She kindly took it with a nervous sort of smile. “L/N. I mean Y/N. Y/N L/N. Sorry.” She laughed at herself and shook her head, the blush seemed to be more from embarrassment now.

“Don’t apologise. It’s cute.” Fred shrugged and put his hands in his pockets as she released her grip. He grimaced at himself, had he really just called her cute within the 5 seconds of knowing her? Their eyes met again and there was something there that Fred couldn’t place. The colour of her cheeks turned from pink to scarlet as they noted each glint in the other eyes.

An announcement was made over the PA system saying that a train was going to start boarding on platform 10. Y/n looked back to the where the train schedules were and looked back to Fred with an urgency in her expression.

“I have to go, that’s my train and there’s not another one for 2 hours.” She looked apologetic.

“That’s alright, I should get back to my brother anyways-.” Fred turned to see George but instead only saw the passing crowd. “Well I should find him.” Fred corrected himself.

“Right. I guess I’ll see you around or something, Fred wasn’t it?” Y/n asked and was pleased to see Fred nod. She shrugged looking unsure as she backed slowly towards her platform.

“I actually have a shop in London.” Fred noted proudly, not realising what he was fully saying.

“Oh maybe I’ll pay you a visit!” Y/n laughed and Fred wasn’t entirely sure if she was joking or not. She began to walk away. Fred’s brain clicked that he was most likely speaking to a muggle, a very pretty muggle at that but still it was someone who didn’t know about magic and it probably wasn’t a good idea to invite her to a magical joke shop.

“Wait, no! Um, it’s probably best if I find you. My shop is very hard to locate.” It wasn’t technically lying because diagon alley would be hard to find for a muggle. Y/n nodded and then with a small wink she ran off towards her train. Fred was left in astonishment at the girl he’d just met. He’d known her for not even 10 minutes and already he was entranced.
